Active Monitor AM 150 - How-To 10 reasons why you need an AM 150: 1.) Because of the various advantages, active technology is standard in the professional market since years. Now (because of the big issue „streaming“) it’s time to establish active technology in the home market. 2.) The AM 150 is fully active, so you don’t need any power amp or integrated amp. 3.) Each driver (woofer and tweeter) is driven by a separate power amplifier, so Biamping is already integrated. 4.) Active technology permits optimal adaptions of the filter circuits to the acoustics. 5.) Through active technology, sub bass reproduction out of small cabinets can be realized much easier. 6.) No long speaker cables necessary, so no influence to the sound and no electrical losses anymore. 7.) The AM 150 may be directly connected to any signal source, whether it is analog or digital. 8.) The digital S/PDIF signal may be daisy chained from one speaker to another. 9.) Adaption of the sound to different acoustical environments by means of three selector switches (see next page). This is only possible with active technology. 10.) Attractive price. Adjusting Aid: Open installation: If the speaker is installed in an open environment, the bass range should not be damped. The basis for experiments should be the default positions (ACOUSTIC SPACE = 0 dB, HF TRIM = 0 dB, LF CUTOFF = FLAT). In fairly damped rooms (e.g. with carpets, curtains, many plants etc.) the treble can reasonably be increased by means of the HF TRIM switch (HF TRIM = +2 dB). Nearfield installation (e.g. on a mixing console): The settings for the nearfield installation can be chosen similarly to the open installation settings. Alternative: In some cases it might be useful to cut off the sound reproduction in the lower frequency range (rumble filter) by means of the LF CUTOFF switch. The treble should be adjusted according to personal gusto.. Close-to-wall installation (e.g. on a speaker stand or on a wall console): When placing a speaker close to the wall the sound pressure level especially in the bass range is increasing. This often leads to a smeary or bubbly bass sound. In this case it is recommended to adjust ACOUSTIC SPACE to -2 dB or even to -4 dB. Installation in a rack / on a shelf: For the installation in an on-wall-rack there are similar rules as for the close-to-wall installation (see above). On the other hand, for free in the room located racks (partitions) there are similar rules as for the open installation.
