Active Platforms Copper Cable Management Solution Installation Instructions ADCP-80-378 • Issue 1 • 5/2009 Introduction The Active Platforms Copper Cable Management Solution provides cable management functions for CISCOTM 6509 equipment mounted within a frame or enclosure. This publication provides instructions for installing and using the copper cable management solution. 1 Verify frame/enclosure dimensions. The cable management solution is designed around CISCO 6509 equipment to be installed on a frame or enclosure with the dimensions shown below. NOTE: 2 Verify cable management components. The ADC cable management components required for this procedure are shown below. Verify that all the components are on hand in the specified quantities. Doors, side panels, and other accessories are not shown here. For details, contact the manufacturer of the frame or enclosure. 40 IN. (102 CM) MINIMUM 28 IN. Adjust the front and rear mounting flanges to the specified dimensions. NOTE: The spacing shown for the front flanges is critical. Without the proper spacing, it will be impossible to mount the front cable management panels in the recommended location. Cable management, access, and fill capacity will be insufficient. 4 Install cross over trough, active equipment, and 2RU blank plates. Mount cross over trough in bottom rack location or first two rack spaces. Directly above it, mount a 2RU blank plate and above that mount active equipment support rails (refer to 6509 documentation). Slide in active equipment on support rails. Do not torque down right side active equipment mounting flange. Mount second 2RU blank plate in rack space directly above active equipment. Ground in location shown. REAR TOP VIEW OF FRAME REAR FLANGES 16.25 IN. (41.3 CM) PLACEMENT OF ACTIVE EQUIPMENT SHOWN IN GREY FRONT FLANGES 10.5 IN. Install one horizontal slack storage panel directly above the top 2RU blank plate, with radius opening to the left. Install the remaining slack storage panel with opening to the right. Ground in locations shown. Install the linecard vertical cable guide on the lower right side of the frame as shown below. Attach the cable guide to the right front vertical mounting flange. Remove screws from the active equipment mounting bracket as needed. Replace screws to secure to the mounting flange. Torque down all right side mounting hardware. Ground in location shown.
