GENERAL INFORMATION The No. 665 Power Transfer Unit supervises the AC power being supp.lied to Ademco’s No. In the event of an AC power failure, 660 Digital Dialer Receiver and the No. 661 Printer. the No. 665 automatically switches both the receiver and printer to a standby wet cell battery. MOUNTING
THE CABINET:

Open the cover of the No. 665 cabinet and remove the two spade lugs from terminals 3 and 4. (See Diagram 1 I. These wires connect the relay sub-assembly to the printed circuit board and must be removed before attempting to take the wired panel out of the cabinet. Remove the six screws that attach the printed circuit board and relay sub-assembly to the cabinet. Carefully take the printed circuit board and relay sub-assembly out of the cabinet.

Connect terminals 1 and 2 of the, No. 96 to the No. 1320 transformer supplied with the unit and plug it into a nearby 24 hour outlet. The 6 volt rechargeable standby batteries built into the No. 96 power supply plus the 12 volt wet cell battery connected to the No. 665 power transfer unit will provide full standby power for the telephone company coupler during an AC power failure.
POWER CONNECTIONS: THE NO. 660 RECEIVER, THE NO. 661 PRINTER, AND THE TRANSFORMER FOR THE NO. 665 POWER TRANSFER UNIT MUST BE PLUGGED INTO THEIR RESPECTIVE AC OUTLETS FOLLOWING A DEFINITE PLtiGIN SEQUENCE. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ATTACH ANY OF THESE UN ITS TO AC UNT I L READ I NG THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS. 1.

Locate the 24 hour AC outlet nearest to the No. 665. Be sure the current to this outlet is not interrupted by a switch or by a circuit breaker when the office is closed for the day. Make preparations for the AC connection. Attach the No. 1321 Plug-in Transformer to the No. 665 Power Transfer Unit using terminals 1 and 2. At least 18 gauge wire should be used for this connection. -DO NOT PLUG THE NO. 1321 TRANSFORMER INTO THE AC OUTLET AT THIS TIME.

It also provides continuous DC power for the No. 661T (Thermal) Printer to maintain the electronic clock circuitry. In the event of an AC power failure, the No. 665 automatically switches the receiver to a standby wet cell battery. When power is restored, the No. 665 automatically switches it back to AC operation and begins recharging the wet cell battery. The No. 1. 2. 3. 4.

Note : If l-his AC subsequently fails, internal clock circuitry in the No. 661T takes over automatically during the outage.
