Access Control The Access Control options allow the administrator to control how typists access the program and give the typists flexibility with different login options.
Allow Self Registration
Typing Instructor will allow first-time users to enter their name directly into the typist database from a typist workstation with the Self Registration feature. If this option is not selected, only Administrators can add users to the user database. If the Self Registration feature is disabled, the first-time users will receive an error message and will not be permitted to log in.
Require Password
Typing Instructor does not require a password with the User ID at the time of login. Administrators can set up a password requirement by clicking the Require Password option. With this option set, a user without a password will be prompted to enter a password at the time of first login. The user will not be permitted to use Typing Instructor until a password is entered. The password will be required for each subsequent log in.
Login Style
The Standard login selection will not display a list of names. Autocomplete displays the student names in a drop-down list.

Typing Defaults The Typing Defaults allow the Administrator to set a variety of settings for all workstation typists. The Typing Defaults are Goal WPM (Words Per Minute), and Allow backspace.
Note: These defaults will be applied to each new typist that logs in for the first time.
Goal WPM — The Goal Words Per Minute is the typing speed a typist is trying to attain during their typing activities. Typists will begin at a low speed, such as 5, 10 or 15 words per minute.
Challenge the typist by setting a Goal WPM that is slightly higher than the typist is capable of attaining. The Goal WPM is used for passing tests and determines the speed of the games in typing plans.
