Purchase from a trial • Choose Activate from the Help menu and follow the on-screen instructions. • After activating Soundbooth you will prompted to install additional codecs that come with the purchased version of the product. Click OK to the message that appears and wait while these files are installed. After installation you will need to restart Soundbooth in order to use the full functionality of these codecs which includes import and export of MPEG video.. Note: If you decide to purchase a different product than you installed for the trial, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the software. For example, if you download and install a trial of Adobe® Creative® Suite 3 Design Premium, but you decide to purchase only Adobe® Illustrator®, you will need to uninstall the trial version of the Suite before installing the standalone version of Illustrator that you purchased. For more detailed information, visit www.adobe.com/go/tbinfo Volume licensing customers cannot purchase from a trial directly. After evaluating a Creative Suite 3 product, you must uninstall the trial and install the product using the volume licensing media and serial number. Refer to the “Uninstall your software” section of this document for instructions. Please contact your reseller or authorized Adobe licensing center to place an order for a volume license. To find a reseller in your area, go to http://partners.adobe.com/resellerfinder/na/reseller.jsp. Electronic licensing
Adobe software may include electronic license (e-license) management technology to ensure compliance with the Product License Agreement. When present, this technology prompts you to verify the license of your product within 30 days after you start it for the first time. If prompted, verification is mandatory. The on-screen prompt may ask you to activate the software. This verification process does not collect, transmit, or use any personally identifiable information. To learn more, visit the Adobe web site at http://www.adobe.com/activation. Activate software: 1. If the Activation dialog box is not already open, choose Help > Activate. 2. Follow the on-screen instructions. Note: If you want to install the product on a different computer, you must first deactivate the software on your computer. To deactivate, choose Help > Deactivate. Registration information When you install your software, be sure to register to get up-to-date product information, training, newsletters, and invitations to Adobe events and seminars. You will also receive a complimentary benefit such as the new Hypatia Sans font and a Dreamweaver Plug-In. Known issues Please refer to Adobe Support for additional late-breaking information and known issues for all Creative Suite 3 applications. Repairing installation on Mac When choosing to do a repair or re-installation on Mac OS, a dialog will appear stating "Please insert Adobe Soundbooth CS3 to continue installation". When this occurs you will need to insert your original Adobe Soundbooth CS3 DVD or re-mount the Adobe Soundbooth CS3 image that you downloaded after purchase. Once you insert the DVD or mount the image, press OK to continue with the installation. ASIO driver vs Soundbooth Windows Sound For the highest level of compatibility, Adobe Soundbooth automatically assigns your default Windows sound card as its default inputs and outputs. If your audio hardware supports the ASIO driver model, we recommend that you choose it in the Audio Hardware preferences dialog instead of the Soundbooth Windows Sound, as this will give improved performance in most cases. Note: Soundbooth CS3 will not be able to launch if you have Total Recorder installed on your machine. Total Recorder is an application that creates virtual inputs on your computer that Soundbooth does not support. To resolve this problem you will need to uninstall Total Recorder. DirectSound® support on Windows Vista Some audio devices do not show up within the Soundbooth Windows Sound device driver on Windows Vista due to changes in the core of Directsound itself. In these situations, using the ASIO driver for the soundcard is suggested and will work properly within Soundbooth. If an input on a sound device is not set as the default for that device within Windows Vista, Soundbooth will present a warning dialog for each unavailable input chosen in the Soundbooth Windows Sound driver. We suggest only selecting the input you intend to use within Soundbooth.
Also make sure this input is also set as the default for the specific device within the Windows Vista control panel. Optimize your system for recording Recorded audio can contain audio dropouts in certain situations while processor intensive applications are running. This is particularly noticeable with USB hardware such as microphones. Try closing other applications such as anti-virus, software firewalls, and browsers that may be obtaining information from the Internet at certain intervals. If that does not help, turn off the Aero interface on Windows Vista while recording as it is also processor intensive. AutoComposer behavior Within the Autocomposer, the "Intro\Outro" setting for a score may be overruled if the variation for the score is set to "Automatic". Automatic is meant to allow easy manipulation of the length of the score, but depending on the length, there may not be enough audio data to retain the Intro and Outro. Multichannel file support AIFF files that contain multiple streams of audio cannot be imported into Soundbooth. This includes 5.1 .aif and .aiff audio files. Video Formats The XVID AVI compressor is not supported within Soundbooth and may cause the application to hang or crash. When saving AVI files, please use a different compressor for export to avoid this problem. QuickTime support QuickTime must be installed in order to open or save .mov files. This means you will need to install QuickTime on your Windows operating system in order to obtain this functionality. QuickTime files which have a filename with 60 characters or more on Windows XP or Vista cannot be imported. This is a limitation of QuickTime on Windows. Cleanup hard drive space Soundbooth CS3 will create several files within your user folder that help speed up the import process of audio and video files. These files can be shared by all DVA products to help optimize the import process across the applications. However, in some cases this can lead to the consumption of a large amount of hard drive space. If you would like to delete these files to clear some hard drive space: Windows XP: • Open Soundbooth and go to Edit > Preferences > Media. Click any of the three buttons offered in this dialog to remove the files they associate with (see tooltips for descriptions). • Another option is to manually delete these files by deleting the "Media Cache Files" and "Adobe Soundbooth Preview Files" folders in this location: [WindowsLocation]:\Documents and Settings\[YourUserName]\Application Data\Adobe\Soundbooth\1.0\. • If you had previously saved files to this location, please be sure to move them to a safer location before deleting this entire folder. Windows Vista:
• Open Soundbooth and go to Edit > Preferences > Media. Click any of the three buttons offered in this dialog to remove the files they associate with (see tooltips for descriptions). • Another option is to manually delete these files by deleting the "Media Cache Files" and "Adobe Soundbooth Preview Files" folders in this location: [WindowsLocation]:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Soundbooth\1.0\. • If you had previously saved files to this location, please be sure to move them to a safer location before deleting this entire folder. Mac OS: • Open Soundbooth and go to Soundbooth > Preferences > Media. Click any of the three buttons offered in this dialog to remove the files they associate with (see tooltips for descriptions). • Another option is to manually delete these files by deleting the following folder: /[YourUserName]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Soundbooth/1.0/. • If you had previously saved files to this location, please be sure to move them to a safer location before deleting this entire folder. Note: These files are not harmful to delete and will be re-generated the next time you open the audio or video files they associate with. Once these files are removed however, Soundbooth will require more time to open the original audio or video files while the audio is re-conformed.
