LEAGUE STRUCTURE: The fall, winter & spring sessions of indoor soccer consist of six or seven weeks (depending on number of teams) of league play. League games are scheduled on Sunday evenings with games beginning as early as 5:30 p.m. and as late as 9:30 p.m. Teams play seven a side with a minimum of two females on the court at all times. Games are held in the Lindbergh Center at Hopkins High School. The playing surface is a spring wood floor, approximately 170’ x 100’. The dates of league play for the three sessions are as follows:

October 29 – December 10 (no games on November 26) January 7 – February 18 (no games on February 4 due to Super Bowl) February 25 – April 8 (no games on April 1)
LEAGUE FEE: $525 per team due at the time of registration There is no individual registration available. Individuals looking for a team may contact the Recreation Services office at 952-939-8203 to be placed on a list of available players. Names from the list will be passed onto team managers looking for players to complete their team. LEAGUE T-SHIRT: A red/white reversible mesh t-shirt is the required uniform for league play. Players who do not own the league t-shirt must purchase and pick-up a t-shirt at the Recreation Services office in Minnetonka City Hall during regular business hours (M - F, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.). Cost of the t-shirt is $15. T-shirts will not be available for purchase and/or pick-up at the game site. REGISTRATION START DATE: Registration for all new and returning teams begins August 4. The registration deadlines for each session are: Fall - October 13; Winter - December 15; Spring - February 9. ROSTERS: Teams must submit the official Recreation Services Team Roster form to the Recreation Services office by 4:30 p.m. on October 27th. The Team Roster form is included in the soccer registration packet or can be downloaded from the city of Minnetonka website: www.eminnetonka.com. The roster form must include the name, full address, and phone number(s) for each player. Only players on a team’s roster will be allowed to participate in league games. GAME SCHEDULES: League schedules will be emailed to participants the week of October 16th. WEATHER HOTLINE: In the case of inclement weather, call the Recreation Services Weather Hotline for updates on the status of the evening’s games. The Weather Hotline # is 952-939-8355. PLAYOFFS: No playoffs will be held. Standings will be kept for the league and posted weekly on the city of Minnetonka website – www.eminnetonka.com. T-shirts will be awarded to the team with the best record at the end of each session.

Adult Co-Rec Indoor Soccer – 2017-18 Registration Information CONDUCT VIOLATION POLICY: The following incidents will be assessed a $20 per violation fee: 1. Unannounced Forfeit – To avoid a fee, forfeits must be reported to Ann Davy, Program Manager, by phone (952-939-8357) or email (
[email protected]) by 3 p.m. the day of game. 2. Player Ejection 3. Unrostered Player Players will be notified by Recreation Services if they have been assessed a conduct violation fee. Payment of the violation fee must be made by 12 p.m. on the team’s next game day. EQUIPMENT: Players must wear shin pads, knee-high socks, and the official league jersey (red/white reversible tshirt). If needed, the league t-shirt can be purchased for $15 and must be picked up at the Recreation Services office in Minnetonka City Hall. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: 1. Participants must be at least 18 years old and out of high school to compete in the indoor soccer league. 2. Players who are currently suspended from participating in other sports communities are ineligible to compete in Hopkins-Minnetonka leagues. 3. The participation of an unrostered player in any league game will result in forfeiting that game to the opposing team. The Program Manager shall determine whether other games the player participated in shall be forfeited also. 4. Opposing managers, as well as Recreation Services, may initiate checks on eligibility. Showing proof of a player’s identity by photo id may be required at game time. 5. Players cannot play on more than one team participating in the league. LEAGUE RULES: The adult co-rec soccer league will generally follow FIFA rules with the following exceptions: 1.
Players must wear shin pads, knee-high socks, and the official league jersey (red & white reversible t-shirt).

Game length is two 24-minute halves. A maximum of 7 players are allowed on the court (six plus goalie). Teams will be allowed to play with a minimum of five players.

Teams not having at least two females on the court must play down one player. If teams pick up a player from another team, they must forfeit the game but will be permitted to use players not on the roster.

Substitutions are allowed "on the fly.”
5.
No slide tackling or rough play allowed. Players may not leave their feet.

Goalies catching the ball must release the ball in play within 4 seconds by rolling, throwing or punting it with the condition that it touches any field player before it crosses the half-line. An indirect free kick on the half-line is awarded to the opposing team for infringement of this rule.

Teams are permitted to kick the ball over six feet high only if a player is making a pass. If they are simply clearing the ball, it cannot go over 6 feet high.

Balls kicked out of play (side lines) will be restarted using a throw-in by the opposing team (no goal may be scored). The ball can be played forward or backward. Defending players may not stand closer than 6 feet from the ball.

Balls kicked out of play on the end line by the defensive team will be restarted using a throw-in from the corner by the opposing team. Defending players may not stand closer than 6 feet from the ball.
10. Balls kicked out of play on the end line by the offensive team will be restarted as if the goalie caught the ball (see #6 above). 11. As there is no clearly marked goal box area, it will be the referee’s judgment in determining when a flagrant foul or handball is committed in the goal box. In these situations, a penalty kick will be awarded with the ball marked at 8 yards. Adult Co-Rec Indoor Soccer – 2017-18 Registration Information 12. On all infractions, the ball, when put in play, must be passed to a teammate. There will be no direct kicks. All infractions will result in an indirect free kick with the ball being played either forward or backward from the point of infraction. 13. On all indirect free kicks, the defensive team must stand at least three yards away from the ball until it has been kicked. 14. Any player, other than the goalie, who uses their hands to prevent a goal, will serve a three-minute penalty. The team will play shorthanded during this time. 15. Any physical play will be discouraged even to the point of having players sit out for repeated offenses. 16. If a player receives a red card he/she may not be replaced for the remainder of the game. 17. Players ejected from the game for an unsportsmanlike act will receive a one game suspension. A second ejection by the same individual will result in suspension for the remainder of the season. 18. This is an ADULT league. All participants must be at least 18 years of age or older and out of high school. 19. The Hopkins School District has adopted a Tobacco-Free policy. No tobacco of any kind is permitted on school property, including the parking lot. PLAYER CONDUCT: 1. The conduct of teams playing in Hopkins-Minnetonka Recreation Services leagues must be above satisfactory. Managers must set examples of fair play and sportsmanship for their players. The HopkinsMinnetonka Player Code of Conduct is as follows: “At no time shall any person lay a hand on, shove, strike, use abusive language, or threaten an official of the Hopkins-Minnetonka Recreation Department on park or school property.” Such incidents will require persons to be suspended until the Program Manager considers the case. Maximum penalty shall be suspension from local league play for one season or up to suspension for life. The umpire’s authority at a game shall not be questioned. They have been instructed to enforce the league rules. The umpire has the authority to remove a player, coach, or manager from the game for violation of the rules. Players removed from the game for unsportsmanlike conduct will not be allowed to compete in the following game and a $20 conduct violation fee will be assessed. A second ejection from a game by any one player will result in suspension for the remainder of the season. 2. Profanity on or around the playing field, even casual profanity, is not permitted. 3. Please be respectful of the game facilities and remove all litter from the area surrounding you and your team before leaving the game site. 4. Protests are not accepted. This is a recreational league and the goal is to have a good time.
