PREPARING FOR USE AND OPERATING _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
ATTACHING / REMOVING THE PRESWEEP To Attach the Presweep... The presweep mounts to the front of the 2052 Hydro-Retriever™ with two pin weldments. 1 Park the machine on a level floor. 2 Turn the machine off and set the parking brake. 3 Push the presweep to position in front of the machine. 4 Adjust the height of the presweep if necessary, to match the height of the mount weldments and linkage on the machine, by turning the jack handle (1) (clockwise to raise or counterclockwise to lower). 5 Pull the cotter pins out from the pin weldments. Once the presweep is aligned with the machine place the pin weldments through the tabs to secure the presweep to the machine and insert the cotter pins. 6 Raise the jack wheel all the way off of the floor (by turning the handle counterclockwise) once the presweep is attached to the machine. The rear jack wheel is only for transportation and should not be down while the presweep is connected to the machine. 7 Connect the hydraulic hoses (A) to (A) and (B) to (B). Then connect Hose (C) to the large fitting on the presweep and the hose from the presweep to Fitting (D). 8 Connect the electrical harness from the presweep to the electrical outlet on the machine. To Remove the Presweep… 1 Follow the above attach steps in reverse order. Be sure to connect the hose (C) to the fitting (D) this completes the hydraulic circuit from the scrub brush motor to the broom motor, and is required for machine operation without the presweep. Also thread the CPC cover over the electrical outlet on the machine to prevent any debris from getting in it.

OPERATING THE PRESWEEP The presweep’s function is to pickup and collect debris on the floor before the machine wets and scrubs the floor. The side brooms direct the debris into the path of the main broom. The main broom throws the debris into a hopper. The vacuum motor impels air through a filter system to minimize the amount of dust generated by the presweep. To Operate 1 Start the engine. 2 Place the Brushes/Broom On-Off Lever (14) in the ON position. This turns on both the machine’s broom and the presweep’s main broom. Note: If desired the machines main broom and scrub brushes can be left in the up position to clean using only the presweep. 3 Push the Main Broom Switch (25) to the ON position to lower the broom to the floor. 4 Place the Side Brooms Switch (24) in the ON position to lower and start the side brooms. 5 Place the Dust Control Switch (23) in the ON position to turn on the vacuum motor.

MAINTENANCE _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
MAIN BROOM ADJUSTMENT The presweep has a floating broom system. The broom will automatically adjust to the wear of the bristles. Broom level is the only adjustment that should be made. To Adjust the Main Broom Level… 1 Drive the machine to an area with a level dry floor and apply the parking brake. 2 Lower the presweep’s main broom (switch 25) and place the Broom Lever (14) in the ON position. Do not move the machine. Allow the broom to run about 1 minute. This lets the broom polish a “strip” on the floor. 3 After 1 minute, release the parking brake and move the machine out of the way to see the polished strip. 4 With the presweep still attached to the machine, turn the engine off. 5 If the strip is tapered, open the cover on the presweep. 6 Locate the broom motor on the left side of the presweep. 7 Loosen Screws (E) and Nuts (F). 8 Adjust the level of the broom by rotating the Broom Motor Arm (G). 9 Rotate the broom motor arm up if the left side of the broom pattern was wider or rotate down if left side of pattern was narrower. 10 Tighten hardware (E & F). 11 Repeat step 1 to see if the pattern is now correct. Readjust following above steps if necessary.

MAIN BROOM REPLACEMENT / ROTATION
WARNING!
Actuator
Shut off broom before entering this area. Do not work in this area with engine running. Since the main broom motor always turns in the same direction, the bristles on the broom eventually become curved, reducing sweeping performance. Sweeping performance can be improved by removing the broom and turning it around (end-for-end). This procedure, known as “rotating” the main broom, should be done once every 30 hours of operation. The broom adjusts automatically, as the broom wears the actuator nut will rise in the broom motor arm’s slots (see figure at right). Check the position of the nut with broom lowered. When the nut reaches the top of the slot there can be no more wear, once this happens and inadequate sweeping performance is evident the broom should be replaced. To Rotate or Remove the Main Broom… Broom Motor Arm 1 Open the right Side Access Door (3) on the presweep. 2 Remove the Broom Arm Nut Weldment (H) from the hex arm weldment. 3 Swing the Broom Arm Weldment (I) aside. Pull the broom out through the door opening. 4 Follow steps in reverse order to install a new broom, or rotate the broom by placing the opposite end into the presweep first.

MAINTENANCE _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
SIDE BROOM ADJUSTMENT / REMOVAL The presweep has two side brooms to direct debris into the path of the main broom. To Adjust Side Broom Pressure… 1 Park the machine on a level floor and set the parking brake. 2 Turn the machine on and lower the side brooms by placing the Side Brooms Switch (24) in the ON position. 3 Observe the side broom while it is running. The bristles from the “11 o’clock” position to the “3 o’clock” position (about 1/3 of the bristles) should be touching the floor, on the left broom. The bristles from the “9 o’clock” position to the “1 o’clock” position should be touching the floor, on the right broom. 4 If the side broom requires adjustment, loosen Lock Nut (J) and turn Bolt (K) clockwise to lower the brooms or counterclockwise to raise the side brooms. 5 Re-test after each adjustment. After the broom is properly adjusted, retighten the Lock Nut (J). To Remove Side Brooms 1 Remove the (3) Screws (L) under each of the brooms.

MAINTENANCE _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
EMPTYING THE HOPPER The presweep hopper will need to be dumped regularly, time between emptying depends on the floor conditions. To Empty Hopper… 1 Release the two Hopper Latches (9), one on each side, that hold the hopper assembly (7) in place. 2 Pull out on the Hopper Lock Assembly (11) and tip the Handle (8) forward. Release the Hopper Lock Assembly in the second or third hole. 3 Pull out on the Wheel Lock Assembly (12), and tip down the Rollout Wheel Assembly (10). Release the Wheel Lock Assembly when it is aligned with the lower hole. 4 Place your foot on the bar that runs between the two rollout wheels, then pull up on Hopper Handle (8) until the hopper separates from the presweep and the rollout wheels are on the floor. 5 Wheel the hopper assembly to a disposal site and dump out the debris. 6 Replace the hopper by following the steps in reverse order. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
HOPPER DUST CONTROL FILTER The presweep’s dust control filter should be cleaned regularly to maintain the efficiency of the vacuum system. Follow the recommended filter service intervals for the longest filter life.
CAUTION! Wear safety glasses when cleaning the filter. Do not puncture the paper filter. Clean the filter in a well-ventilated area. To Remove Filter… 1 Open Cover (2) on the presweep. 2 Open filter assembly clamps. 3 Remove the filter assembly cover, and remove the filter. 4 Clean the filter by following the decal on the top of the filter. Listed below are the methods to clean. A – By Tapping Tap gently on flat surface with dirty side down. B – With Air Direct compressed air (100 PSI Max.) through panel opposite air flow. C – With Water 1. Soak 15 min. in warm water. 2. Rinse until clean (40 PSI Max. Water Pressure). 3. Air dry (do not use compressed air). 5 Follow steps (1-3) in reverse order to install the filter. If the gasket on the filter is torn or missing, it must be replaced. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
