Operational Considerations Use the following information in your operational planning for the ADVC G-Series.
Important Note: Operating Dip/Rotary Switches TURN OFF the ADVC unit before operating dip or rotary switches. If these are operated while the unit is turned on, the unit may freeze or output incorrectly.
New Features of Service Pack 1 This Service Pack adds the following features: ADVC G1 •
Supports limited depth range in RGB to YUV conversion.
•
Converts from 60p or 60i to 59.94 or 50 series format to support VGA output.
•
Horizontal position adjustment for analog HD component input via USB control.
•
Supports 1080/59.94p format for analog component input.
•
Converts 1024x768p to 1024x720p
ADVC G2 •
Supports 1080p30-23.98 to 1080PsF30-23.98 conversion
ADVC G3 •
Allows individual screen rotation (L/R) for 3D view via USB control
All models (including ADVC G4) •
All units can be controlled via USB (requires SDK, supplied separately by Grass Valley)
Dip/Rotary Switch settings ADVC G1
Dip Switch SW1
Enable/Disable switching depth-range function. SW1 is common to use this function and specifying SD pedestal. ON: Enable OFF: Disable *This function is only available when selecting either HDMI or DVI input
SW2
Enable/Disable retiming function for 60p/60i footage input. SW2 is common to use this function and specifying component level. ON: 60Hz to 50Hz OFF: 60Hz to 59.94Hz *This function is only available for 60Hz footage input via either one of HD component, HDMI or DVI.

Update History The following issues are fixed or improved in this version. Color bleeds while up-converting (ADVC G1) Description
Color bleeds when 720p footage is up-converted to 1080i via DVI-D or HDMI.
Color bleeds using HDMI to SDI (ADVC G1) Description
Color bleeds when using HDMI input / SDI output.
Output has incorrect aspect ratio (ADVC G1) Description
Output video had incorrect aspect ratio when SD footage is up-converted.
Blinking front LED during conversion (ADVC G1) Description
Front "UpConv." LED would blink when set to PC output.
Analog audio output is always +4dBu (ADVC G2) Description
ADVC G2 would always output +4dBu level from analog audio output if video and audio has been input before turning on the G2 unit.
Video delay using SDI input (ADVC G2) Description
If input sync is chosen for SDI input, video is delayed by approx. 2 frames.
Connected audio D/A converter cannot convert the audio (ADVC G2) Description
Certain third-party audio converters could not convert the digital audio signal output from the G2.
Connected equipment cannot convert the embedded audio (ADVC G2) Description
Certain third-party equipment could not convert SD-SDI embedded audio signal output from the G2.
Audio noise during HDMI input (ADVC G2) Description
Audio noise occurred when certain video resolutions are input via HDMI.
Audio and video out of sync (ADVC G3) Description
Audio and video became out of sync.
DARS/Word Clock output is incorrect when using tri-level sync (ADVC G4) Description
DARS/Word Clock output incorrect when using tri-level sync.
Connected equipment cannot process DARS (ADVC G4) Description
Certain third-party equipment could not convert tone signal in DARS output from the G4.
Design Limitations Cannot convert DVI-D signal from PC (ADVC G1) Description
If a DVI cable is connected to the G1 before turning on the PC, the G1 cannot convert the DVI-D signal. We have confirmed this issue on DVI-D signal from AMD RADEON Express 200 graphic card.
Workaround
Connect the DVI cable until OS screen appears and then switch the cable connection to the G1.
Horizontal line appears when inputting UXGA or WUXGA (ADVC G1) Description
Horizontal line sometimes appears if converting from UXGA or WUXGA to 1080i or 1080p footage.
Workaround
Convert to 720p footage when inputting UXGA or WUXGA.
First pixel on left side is black when DVI or HDMI input (ADVC G1) Description
Vertical 1-pixel line appears on left side of screen when DVI or HDMI input.
Workaround
None.
No video output and audio noise are occurred in down conversion (ADVC G2) Description
If 1280x720p23.98 footage is down-converted, there is no video output and audio noise occurs.
Workaround
None. Restart the G2 unit.
