American Dynamics Fibre RAID Storage Quick Start Guide (Page 1 of 2) 1 4 What’s in the Box Standard Items Panel Connectors 3. Connect Power, Fibre and Ethernet cables as shown on the back panel Be sure to use an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) Back Panel Be sure to use surge protection for power supply and provide appropriate grounding Always follow appropriate safety precautions Optional Second Controller Always power on the peripheral devices (e.g. storage) before powering up the host PC (e.g. NVR) 15 x Hard Drive Modules Rack Mounting Kit (Packed in Separate Box) 5 Power Up After all cables are connected, proceed to power ON the Fibre RAID Storage (and any Fibre Expansion Units). The power switch for two redundant power supplies are located on the back of the unit. A1 Fibre RAID Storage Chassis Serial Cable 2 x Localized Power Cords B2 B1 C2 C1 A1 Connect the power cord A2 Connect the power cord B1 Connect FC1 to NVR’s Fibre HBA Card B2 Optional: Connect FC2 to NVR’s Fibre HBA Card C1 Connect eth0 to Client Network for Management C2 Optional: eth1 A2 Wait a few minutes until the HB LEDs on the back of the unit start flashing. 6 Log in to the Unit On the client computer, launch the web browser (Microsoft Internet Explorer is the recommended browser) and enter the IP address (default is 192.168.0.1) of the Fibre RAID Storage Unit. Is the Unit Functioning as Described? Quick Start Guide and Documentation Disc 2 Required Accessories (not in this box) PC with Fibre Card NOTE: The WWN number located on Fibre Card is required 1. Attach Rack Mounting Kit for the Chassis if you plan to install into a standard 19” IT Rack. 2. After installing the Chassis (note the cable length from Chassis to NVR), proceed to unpack and install the Hard Drive Modules in the CORRECT ORDER: Starting from the left-most drive bay, HDD #0 is first to be installed Starting from the right-most drive bay, HDD #14 is to be installed YES! The Fibre RAID Storage unit is ready to be configured. Use the following information to log in: Default Username: admin Default Password: admin CAT 5e/6 Ethernet Cable for Management Fibre Cable & Transceiver (for Fibre Connectivity) 3 Optional Accessories NO! Fibre Host Bus Adapter (HBA) Kit* for PC If you cannot connect with the browser verify that the IP address is correct by using the ping command from a Command Prompt window. Verify the network connections, IP addresses and subnet masks on the client. (Dual-Port HBA, Fibre Cables, Transceivers) American Dynamics Fibre Expansion Storage Unit* For additional storage (up to 3 can be daisy-chained to the RAID Unit) *Contact your American Dynamics Representative for more information. NOTE: If adding Fibre RAID Expansion Unit, refer to the Users Manual before continuing SAS cable is used to attach Fibre RAID Storage to the Fibre Expansion Unit SAS cable is used to attach Fibre Expansion Unit to additional Fibre Expansion Units (up to 3 can be daisy-chained to the RAID Storage) If you have checked all these items and the unit fails to power up, or you repowered your unit and the unit still fails to operate properly, please contact your American Dynamics Representative. © 2008 Tyco International Ltd. and its Respective Companies.
