The operation of the ISDN interfaces as TE or NT can be set with a DIP switch. This allows the user to either connect two telecommunication installations (cross connection) or extend existing ISDN S0 buses for ISDN telephones. Optionally, the S0 buses can be supplied separately, individually and short circuit-proof with 40V S0 supply voltage. For the transmission via optical fiber cables, various fiber optic modules with a transmission range of up to 60 km are available on special request. 1. 1. Features - Conversion from 4 x S0 to optical interface - easy to use - extensive LED diagnosis - no configuration necessary - solid, stackable, EMC compatible aluminum housing - interference immunity - long working life 3 Access Multiplexer for ISDN User Manual 1. 2. Interfaces Service: ISDN 4 x RJ45 sockets for S0 interfaces. Line: SC socket for single-mode or multimode optical fiber connection. 1. 3. Additional Data Supply voltage: 5 V DC 3%, residual ripple 50 mV, external power supply Current consumption: 600 mA Ambience conditions (operation): Temperature: 5 to 40 °C Relative humidity: 10 to 90% (non-condensing) Ambience conditions (storage): Temperature: 0 to 60 °C Relative humidity: 5 to 95% (non-condensing) Dimensions Desktop Unit(L x W x D): 185 x 120 x 40 mm Chapter 2 Device Overview 2. 1. Function- and Display-Elements 4 Access Multiplexer for ISDN User Manual Status and control elements: Clearly visible LEDs indicate the presence of power, link activity, and status of the terminal device, loop and error status. Speed and operating mode of the individual interfaces can be set with DIP-switches ”MODE“. Optical interface: The optical interface can also be found on the front panel of the AMX4S0. Depending on the device model, it allows the connection to multimode or single-mode optical fiber. Front Panel View S0 interfaces: The physical connections for the available S0 interfaces are on the back panel. The device is powered via adapter (lockable connector). Back Panel View 19“ panel frame 1 HE: Dimensions (HxWxD): 4,4 x 48,3 x 0,3 cm One 1-HE panel frame can accommodate up to 3 desktop units. For assembly, remove the plastic panel in front and mount the desktop unit by using the 4 screws included in the delivery. 2. 2. Red Function On: ISDN layer 1 of the respective S0 interface is active Flickering: data or voice transmission On: indicates errors that prevent normal functioning Interfaces The following interfaces are available: o The LINK interface is for connection to the optical fiber network o 4 x ISDN S0 interfaces o Power to the AMX4S0 is supplied via the power socket. The socket is equipped with a locking mechanism to prevent accidental unplugging of the adapter. 2.3.1 Line-Interface (Fibre Optic) This interface is for connection to the optical fiber network. The connections are marked ”TX and RX“ and its LEDs indicate the operational status of the optical interface. 6 Access Multiplexer for ISDN LED Colour LED Group LINE L1 Green Act Yellow User Manual Function On: the optical line is operational Flickering: activity on the line Types of fiber optic interfaces: o Multimode-Duplex-SC o Singlemode-Duplex-SC o Singlemode-Bidi-SC (T15R13) [Transmit/Receive wavelength: 1550nm/1310nm] o Singlemode-Bidi-SC (T13R15) [Transmit/Receive wavelength: 1310nm/1550nm] 2.3.2 ISDN S0 Interface (RJ45) The 4 RJ45 sockets are configured and labeled in accordance with the ETSI standard of the ISDN interface. The allocation of the interfaces and their sequence needs to be observed on both sides of the line during installation. 7 Access Multiplexer for ISDN User Manual Pin 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 2.3.3 Function TX+ Transmit Line RX+ Receive Line RX- Receive Line TX- Transmit Line Power Socket Pin 1 2 3 2. 4. Connection of ISDN Telephones to AMX4S0 In this case it is an extension of the S0 buses via an optical fiber link. 10 Access Multiplexer for ISDN User Manual The clock frequency is forwarded from the telecommunication installation via the optical fiber link to the ISDN terminal devices connected. Setting of the DIP switches in location (1) with the telecommunication installation (PABX) must be as follows: Setting Function TE configuration (S0 I/F 1-4) Setting of the DIP switches in location (2) with ISDN phone must be as follows: 11 Access Multiplexer for ISDN User Manual Setting Function NT configuration (S0 I/F 1-4) CAUTION! As the ISDN S0 interfaces here are operating in NT-MODE, the ISDN S0 cross cable (blue cable) must be used. Chapter 4 Safety Regulations Only qualified persons should install AMX4S0. Do not open the aluminum housing or the wall plug adapters. Warranty is void if seals are broken. Keep FiberSprinter-S0 dry and clean. Please use the dust covers for the optical interfaces if no fiber is connected to it. Arcutronix AMX4S0 optical systems use semiconductor lasers as transmission sources. Infrared laser beam is invisible and has the potential to harm your eyes. You should be aware of corresponding laser safety regulations. Avoid looking into the laser beam from a short distance. All of arcutronix AMX4S0 series are Class 1 laser systems in accordance with international laser safety standard IEC/EN 825-1. 12 Access Multiplexer for ISDN User Manual Chapter 5 CE-Conformity Herewith we declare, under reference to the EMC directive 89/338/EEC, that assembly mentioned below in its original version traded by us, is designed to comply with the applicable EC directive. Any changes on the unit not agreed upon with us will void this declaration. Type of equipment: ISDN/FiberOptic-Converter Designation of equipment: AMX4S0 For the evaluation regarding the directive, the following standards were applied: EN 55024:2002-11 Information technology equipment, immunity characteristics –Limits and methods of measurement EN 55022:2003-09 Information technology equipment, Radio disturbance characteristics, Limits and methods of measurement. 13 Access Multiplexer for ISDN User Manual 14
