ANDROID Wi-Fi Hotspot guide: C Spire provides a user guide to activate your Android Wi-Fi hotspot to share your wireless phone’s data connection to another Wi-Fi enabled device. How to activate your Android phone’s Wi-Fi Hotspot to enable tethering: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
From the home screen of your Android, press the Menu key. Touch Settings Touch Wireless & networks Touch Tethering & mobile hotspot You will see a screen similar to the following. Touch Portable Wi-Fi hotspot to enable tethering and your device’s Wi-Fi hotspot will be activated.

Touch Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings to manage your Wi-Fi hotspot. You can configure the following Wi-Fi settings for your device: o SSID – This is the name of your Wi-Fi hotspot connection. Select this from your Wi-Fi enabled device to connect. You can also rename this connection.
o Security – Select Open if you do not want to use a password to connect to your phone’s Wi-Fi hotspot. Select WPA2 PSK to require a password to access your phone’s Wi-Fi hotspot. C Spire recommends using WPA2 PSK to ensure unknown users do not access your data connection. Password – only used when Security type is set to WPA2 PSK o Max Users – set the number of user connections you want to allow access your Wi-Fi Hotspot. o
Advance users may configure other options, but not required for establishing a WiFi Hotspot connection.
To connect to your Android device’s active Wi-Fi Hotspot follow your Wi-Fi enabled device (laptop, tablet, etc.) instructions to connect to a wireless network.
