˗ Remove the band’s cap and plug the charging plug into the charging cable ˗ Plug the charging cable into a USB port on a computer (A full charge takes ~80 minutes) * Average battery life is about 6-7 days * Go to Home Screen on page 3 to see how to check battery life
Power Adapter
Option: ˗ You may also charge your band by connecting charging plug to charging cable then to the power adapter. Plug the adapter in any standard wall outlet.

You may use “Sleep” mode to track your sleep patterns. [1]

When the band is in ‘Sleep’ mode, press and hold the “Mode Button” once to switch back to “Awake” mode

AWAKE/SLEEP MODE For Connect Diabetes project, we focus on diet and physical activity behaviors, so we recommend that your Jawbone UP24 band should always be in ‘Awake’ mode to automatically track daily steps, distance, and calories burned
2. UP24 App How to Download UP24 UP Go to Google Play Store and search for “UP24”

band After the download, choose “OPEN” How to Sync Your Band with UP24 App Once UP24 app is installed, use your Jawbone-associated email and password to “sign in”
After signing in, tap

to pair your band with the app
Select “UP24” band to sync Follow the instructions to sync your band with UP24 app
You will be notified when your UP24 band is successfully paired with the app Click “OK”

2. UP24 App The main use of UP24 app in this study is to monitor: (1) your diet and (2) workout activity Home Screen: this is the main page of the UP24 app

Tap the “+” sign to log your meals, workout, and weight.
For the purpose of this study, we recommend that you use “Meal”, “Workout”, and “Weight” functions

2.1 Logging Your Food Tap the “Meal” icon
on Home Screen to start
This section provides a summary of options for logging the items you eat and drink We recommend using: 1. “Searching” food item by name 2. “My Library” 3. “Scanning” barcode
If you forgot to log your previous meal……… You can change meal date/time with any recommended food-logging methods See last screenshot in 2.1.1, 2.1.2, and 2.1.3
Tap “+” sign to reveal logging options: SCAN, TYPE, and SNAP
Scanning: Log food items by scanning the barcode
My Library: Choose an item from a list of your most frequently logged items
Searching: Find food item by name, or type restaurant name to find food items on restaurant menu

Camera: Log food by taking a picture of your food/meal, or select pictures from your picture gallery

2.2 Logging Your Workout ˗ Your band automatically tracks and records your steps throughout the day ˗ To track and record a specific workout session, such as running, yoga, biking, the best and most reliable way is to set the band in “Stopwatch” mode first, and the band will sync with your UP app later. See 2.2.1 on this page If you forget to set “Stopwatch” mode to track your workout……… ˗ Option 1: it is possible that the band could still track and record your workout through the band and UP app. See 2.2.3 on page14 ˗ Option 2: if the band does not track and record your workout, log your workout manually. See 2.2.4 on page14 2.2.1 Set UP®24 Band to Track Your Workout: To Start “Stopwatch” Mode: To End “Stopwatch” Mode: Press the “Mode Button” first, then quickly press and hold it again until the band vibrates Make sure the light flashes If the light comes up, repeat the step to start “Stopwatch” mode
Press and hold the “Mode Button” once until the band vibrates The band will switch to ‘Awake’ status
After your workout: ˗ Sync your band with UP app by placing the band near your device to allow connection ˗ A recorded activity should appear in your UP app. See 2.2.2 on page13 and log your tracked workout [12]
2.2.2 Tracked and Recorded Workout: You set your band in “Stopwatch” mode to track your activity before your workout, and a recorded activity appears in your “UP” app after syncing the band 2.
