SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE MOBILE KEG TRACKING
by AnotherRound Apps
KegID is an innovative asset tracking and inventory solution enabling visibility of individual kegs, pallets, and turns throughout the distribution and consumption cycle. The solution leverages industrial barcoding tags and scanners integrated with smartphones and tablets to track the possession of kegs between brewers, distributors, and retailers. Awareness of each keg’s location and status allows you to decrease loss, increase accountability, optimize cycle times, and maximize the use of your kegs.
A BREWER’S TYPICAL CURRENT KEG STATE
Kegs are lost and stolen every day costing brewers, distributors, and retailers millions of dollars. Individual kegs are not identified, thus cannot be truly tracked. Brewers are unable to identify specific kegs as being lost or overdue; the most they have is quantities of keg movement from invoices or incomplete, manual logs to combat missing float. Lack of keg identification translates into lack of accountability; it is human nature to keep better track of items people know are documented as in their possession. Brewers don’t have easy, real time keg inventory visibility Brewers and distributors can’t analyze and optimize turns Empty, unused kegs decrease asset utilization, sales, and consistent tap usage at bars; even a 25% increase in keg usage dramatically impacts a brewer’s bottom line.
THE PROCESS 1. Slap an industrial barcode on your clean, empty shells. We order industrial strength barcodes for you (or use the barcodes already on your kegs). 2. Equip your team and your distributors with the KegID app and Bluetooth scanners hooked up to your phones and tablets. 3. Scan the keg at every change of possession. For brewers using wholesalers, we can setup your distributors for a nominal fee to scan your kegs if you get agreement from them to do so. If you are using pallets, you can scan the pallet and track all of the kegs within the pallet. 4. Capture who you are sending the kegs to and from and assign their contents and batch number. 5. Run real-time, reports to analyze cycle times, process gaps, aged keg receivables.
*Process will vary based on your sales and distribution model.

Overview
PRICING We charge a monthly fee based on the number of kegs in your inventory per brewer. The base fee per brewers starts at $100 a month for up to 500 kegs. Each additional keg above 500 is 10 cents a month a keg, so 1500 kegs would cost you $200 a month ($100 base plus $100 for the additional 1000 kegs). For larger floats, we provide a graduated pricing model that reduces the per keg price. Pricing for distributors purchasing KegID for their brewers is customized based on each situation (base price per brewer plus total kegs). The monthly fee includes the use of the software (app and website), unlimited users, real-time Excelbased reporting, software upgrades, and great support. Your contract is month to month, so cancel anytime if you are not satisfied. We believe our software and support will keep you around, not a longterm contract. For more complex implementations of KegID, setup costs and additional monthly fees will be incurred.
UPFRONT COSTS Your setup costs consist of barcodes, scanners, and potentially smartphones or tablets.
Barcodes You’ll need to tag all of your kegs with barcodes if they do not already have 1D or 2D tags on them. The 2D (QR Code) barcodes are our standard, unless you choose our lowest cost scanner option below (Socket Mobile 7Ci/8Ci), which only scan 1D barcodes. Our tags are photo anodized aluminum foil with a very strong 3M adhesive. We chose these tags due to their durability and ability to handle varying temperatures. The barcodes are $0.60 apiece unless you request a custom numbering system.
Smartphone or Tablet (Apple and Android) Finally, you need to ensure you have smartphones and/or tablets to use for the scanning. We suggest purchasing a dedicated, inexpensive tablet for the brewery/warehouse. A good tablet to consider is the Google Nexus 7 tablet (http://www.google.com/nexus/#/7). For Apple users, the iPad Mini is a good brewery solution. Also consider a protective cover when purchasing. We do not support many low cost Android tablets. Many of these tablets include generic Bluetooth radios that provide inconsistent pairing results with the scanners. A rule of thumb is to stick with Apple, Google, and Samsung hardware.
Scanners The barcode scanner is your second expense. We recommend you purchase one for the brewery and potentially one for each delivery truck. We have multiple versions of scanners in addition to the smartphone cameras that we have fully tested and recommend. Refer to the table below to evaluate your options.

Pallet Label Printers For pallet label printing, there are three options: 1) Use a Wi-Fi enabled printer on your network. Note: this needs to be AirPrint-ready if printing from an Apple device. 2) For larger operations, use a Wi-Fi enabled Zebra label printer. We recommend the Zebra ZT220 wireless printer. KegID is fully integrated with Zebra printers allowing for automated printing. 3) Leverage your existing WMS pallet labels that KegID can scan and assign kegs to. Contact us for more information.
