AO-SHRED01 QUICK START GUIDE WHAT’S IN THE BOX One Paper Shredder, One Quick Start Guide FEATURES AND OPERATION Shredder head and waste bin Place the shredder head onto the waste collection bin, ensuring they align correctly. If the shredder head is not orientated correctly on the waste bin, the shredder will not operate correctly. Operation and usage - Do not feed more than 8 sheets of standard 80g A4 office paper or 1 credit card at once through the shredder - Smaller items like envelopes, credit cards or receipts should all be passed through the center of the feed slot. - It is safe to feed paper with staples through this machine, however to prolong the life of the unit it is suggested that staples be removed where possible - Do not feed paper clips through the machine as they will jam the machine and cause irreparable damage. Operation mode switch AUTO: REV: OFF: This mode will start and stop automatically when an item is inserted into the paper feed slot This mode is used to clear paper jams. Cutters will immediately engage in the opposite direction until another mode is selected. This mode powers the machine off. This position is recommended when emptying the waste bin or when the shredder is not in use for prolonged periods of time. Safety protection - This shredder is equipped with motor overload protection. - The unit should be allowed to cool down and not used for 30 mins, if used continuously for two minutes. - Power may automatically be cut to the unit if: > The unit is operated continuously at maximum capacity for longer than 2 minutes > Overloading the unit such as shredding more than 8 sheets at one time > Paper is not fed squarely into the feed slot. Safety power-off If the safety protection has cut power to the machine during use, you should: - Switch the shredder off and unplug it from mains power. Wait at least 30 minutes for the overload protection to reset. - During this time you can tear off or cut any excess paper from the top of the shredder where possible - Plug the unit back into mains power and put the unit into REV mode. Carefully pull the remaining paper from the cutting heads. - Once the unit is free from jams, place the mode switch back to the AUTO position and continue normal use Note: Particularly difficult jams can be dislodged by moving between the AUTO and REV settings Maintenance - Regularly emptying your waste bin helps avoid shredded paper jamming the cutters from underneath. - When you empty the shredder waste bin or clear a paper jam, please make sure the unit is switched off and unplugged from mains power Warning: Do not use this product for any other purpose aside from those explained above. Keep loose articles of clothing and foreign objects away from the shredder while in use. This device is not suitable for use by children under the age of 15. 1 AO-SHRED01 QUICK START GUIDE FAQ Q1. A1. A2. A3. A4. My shredder does not work after paper is inserted. Check that the power cord has been connected properly to the shredder and also to mains power The motor may have over-heated. Wait for about 30 minutes or until the safety switch has engaged power back to the unit. The paper feed may be jammed. Reverse the paper feed and remove any jammed paper The shredder head is not placed properly on the basket. Place the shredder head securely on the basket and in the correct orientation Q2. A1. A2. The shredder does not shred paper Too much paper may have been fed through. Check to see if you have exceeded the rated capacity of paper The paper size inserted may be larger than the paper entry and has folded over causing a jam. Reverse the shredder and take the paper out. Q3. A1. I have finished putting paper though the machine but it will not turn off There is a sensor in the centre of the paper feed slot that either turns the unit or off when triggered by inserting paper. If a piece of paper has lodged itself around this sensor, the unit may not turn off correctly. In this case follow the paper jam procedures above being careful not to damage the sensor For further product information and instruction please visit our product web page at www.laserco.net or email [email protected] Please note: As continual improvements are made to this product, slight operational differences may occur.
