Data Sheet | 1 Application Monitoring Simplify and optimize application performance Slow applications impact company productivity and frustrate end users. Companies spend lots of time and money to diagnose and fix problems only to have them happen again. The new model of multi-tier and virtualized IT architecture provides many benefits but poses performance monitoring and management challenges. These tiers are interdependent on one another and a failure in one tier (e.g., database) affects all the other tiers (e.g., web, java, middleware). Traditional tools can’t keep up with changing infrastructure. They cannot determine the root cause of the problem or provide actionable performance insight into fragmented systems. IT and Operations personnel need application performance visibility across all IT domains and actionable alerts to prevent downtime, lost revenue and frustrated end users. Stratus’® Application Monitoring product provides this and more. We’ve partnered with eG Innovations to round out our everRun Solution with Application Monitoring. This application monitoring tool is an automated root-cause diagnosis technology that automatically pinpoints performance issues throughout the entire application environment with accuracy. IT and Operations personnel can quickly diagnose and resolve bottlenecks to prevent downtime, increase productivity and reduce support and infrastructure costs. Key Benefits • Prevents problems with detection, alerting and reporting • Pinpoints issues with automatic root cause performance diagnosis, automatic topology and dependency discovery and mapping • Easily integrates and extends with new customized network and application elements • Provides remote access with 100% web-based architecture • Monitors multiple systems from one management console • Integrates with trouble ticketing system for every workflow Get Application Performance Visibility Boost productivity and user satisfaction by identifying and preventing application performance issues before users and business are impacted. Diagnose and Resolve Problems Quickly Reduce support cost and complexity by automating and accelerating the discovery, diagnosis and resolution of application performance issues with pre-emptive monitoring and automatic root-cause diagnosis. www.stratus.com Application Monitoring for everRun Enterprise Prevent Application Downtime Application performance can be impacted by the performance of the hypervisor, VMs, network devices, and other IT hardware. everRun’s Application Monitoring covers every layer and tier of your infrastructure from one central monitor station, and performs automatic restarts if needed to further minimize outage durations. Data Data Sheet Sheet | 2 resolve them. Customers can purchase additional licenses to add in-depth monitoring of additional applications. The everRun Enterprise Application Monitoring platform supports 150+ applications including popular web applications, Java middleware, databases, infrastructure services and messaging servers. Application Monitoring Dashboard How It Works The basic package includes a license to monitor a pair of x86 based servers running Stratus everRun Enterprise. In-depth monitoring of one key application is included. SNMP traps from network devices can be received and correlated with the performance of the servers and the application. The monitoring solution also pings the application and network devices for acknowledgment that all is well. If a proper response is not received, the application is automatically restarted or a script is run to automatically remediate the problem. For network devices, alerts are immediately sent indicating the type and location of the problem, so administrators can quickly everRun Application Monitoring — Available Packages 1 application included Basic Package VM1 Additional Application Monitoring purchased separately VM2 VM3 VM4 VM Monitoring included in base Ping Quorum servers Additional Package Proactive polling of network devices Stratus everRun® Enterprise x 86 Server Switch(es) Manager & Reporter Additional Package x 86 Server Additional License – Receive Up to 50 SNMP Traps from devices www.stratus.com Application Monitoring for everRun Enterprise Data Sheet | 3 The Basic Application Monitoring Package Contains Everything Needed to Monitor 1 everRun System and the Associated VMs Plus 1 Application. This free version of Microsoft SQL database has a limitation of 8 GB in terms of database growth. eG requires one virtual or physical system with the following hardware and software configurations: However, for monitoring 2 servers, eG recommends the free version of the Microsoft SQL Server®. Hardware Requirements for the eG Management Software (Virtual or Physical): Best Practices for the eG Database Configuration: 1. Two processors: 2.1 GHz or higher 2. 6 GB of RAM 3. Two logical volumes: C:\Volume for the operating system with 40 GB disk space AND 1. B lank SQL database (Name: egdb) to be created prior to the install 2. The eG Management software also requires a local SQL account (Name: egdbuser) with DBO (Database Ownership) privileges for the eG database 3. eG Database Recovery model should be configured to “Simple” D:\Volume for the eG data with 50 GB disk space Find Out More For more information, or to purchase Stratus products, call 1-800-STRATUS, or visit www.stratus.com.
