4.0 Synergy Matrix Management Software Equipment Interconnect Diagram
Figure 1-Interconnect Diagram A typical Synergy Matrix setup consists of a Synergy.net application server, multiple optical switches such as the Extreme Summit X670 G2 or Cisco Catalyst C3850, multiple Barco Nexxis encoders and decoders and the NMS server for each switch. Synergy Matrix software is installed on the NMS server. As an example shown in Figure 1, the Synergy.net application server as well as all Synergy CCUs reside on the facility network. On the facility network, a separate VLAN is created for each switch. The requirements for configuring Synergy Matrix VLANs include the following: 1. Each Matrix VLAN has its own unique subnet and gateway, which are also different from the facility subnet and gateway. That is, the Synergy.net application server and CCU consoles residing on facility network shall be in a different VLAN than every unique VLAN configured for each optical fiber switch. 2. All devices in each Matrix VLAN shall have the same access level as all devices on the facility network. Ideally, this would include Internet access. 3. The facility provides DHCP service to all devices in the Synergy Matrix VLANs. This will ensure all devices connected to the optical switches are visible to the facility’s IT staff. 4. For each VLAN the DHCP range shall start from x.x.x.20. If more than one optical switch is needed, then Extreme VIM or Cisco QSPF+ cables shall connect the switches. Arthrex recommends connecting port 1 of each switch to its VLAN Ethernet wall jack using a SFP+ module and connecting port 2 of each switch to the NMS server. All other connections (i.e. decoders, encoders) to the switch will be made using 10GBase-SR SFP+ modules in combination with LC2 Multi Mode Duplex 10Gb fiber cables. 950-0070-00 B

Possible Cause
Corrective Action
Source is powered off.
Turn on video source.
Encoder is powered off.
Turn on encoder.
Encoder fiber is not correctly connected.
Secure the encoder fiber connection to the switch.
Source video feed is not correctly connected to the encoder.
Secure the source video output to the encoder.
The source is fed to the wrong OR ports on the switch.
Check the encoder fiber output goes to the correct OR ports on the switch.
Display is powered off.
Turn on display.
Decoder is powered off.
Turn on decoder.
Decoder fiber is not correctly connected.
Secure the decoder fiber connection to the switch.
Display is not correctly connected to the decoder.
Secure decoder output to the right input connector of the display.
The decoder of the display is connected to a wrong OR ports on the switch.
Check the decoder fiber output goes to the correct OR partition on NMS switch.
Display is set to a different input channel. No video source is routed to the display.
The display settings are wrong.
Set the display input to match the connected decoder. Route a desired video source to the display. Set the display settings to the following:
Full Mode
The display shares a decoder with the other display. Both channels of a decoder are occupied.
One display use only one channel of a decoder, if PIP or PAP is desired for this display then make sure not more than one monitor is attached to one decoder
Faulty fiber/cable connection.
Secure the fiber / cable connection.
