AR Cabinets AR Cabinets One collection -various applications Thorough and uncompromising surface treatment Our tight cabinets offer protection against harmfull environmental conditions for electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Assembly method is chosen accoording to equipment to be fitted. The equipment, components and the racks can be assembled on the mounting plates, shelves, swing frame or mounting rails. Standing freely on the floor, the cabinets are fit for individual mountings as well as row assembly. Because we perform the entire surface treatment by ourselves, we can ensure its high quality. The basis for the ultimate corrosion protection is the decreasing process where the cold-rolled steel is cleaned. The clean sheet is then phosphated which gives the surface a thin phosphate coat. This improves the adhesion of the paint. Finally the cabinets are being powder painted. In the own the paint is being polymerized forming a viscose and enduring surface which complies to the M4 special tolerance tests and requirements. Welded frame A solid base for the cabinet is a welded frame. It has proved its durability both in practical applications and dynamic bearings tests. The cabinet´s tightness ond solid structure is due to the wellthought-out frame solution. It is built up with rapid-fastener walls, doors, adjustable base, mounting plate and a roof with an eye bolt. The result of the executed vibration tests are available if needed( sine wave IEC 68-2-6, research reports TEL 7176, TEL 7210). Versatatile usage with accessories With accessories you can widen the application range of the cabinet outside the instrumentation. To prevent overheating inside the cabinet there are a variety of fans, heat exchangers and refrigeration equipment. Besides the standard configuration, we have some mechanical solutions to offer according to customers needs, for example openings, special dimensions of the cabinet and materials as stainless steel and aluminium. Acknowledged quality work around the world The AR- Cabinets are manufactured of excellent raw materials according to the standard norms. The manufacturing accuracy is according to the common tolerance in punching techniques( SFS 4012).The dimensioning complies to the SFS 2528, 2667 and 2972 standard requirements as well as SESKO recommendations. Our products are widely used in the different fields of Industry. The flexibility of our standard cabinet significantly lengthens lifespan of tailored solutions. Too high a temperature inside the cabinet leads to unreliable operation of the equipment. Filter on the bottom, elevated ceiling on the top The following cooling methods are utilised in the cabinets: **) Approximately 5 – 10 % less power exits from the surface of components installed in the cabinets than indicated. A filter is used both on the top and on the bottom of the cabinet to maintain the IP rating. An alternative is to use a filter on the bottom (page 20) and an elevated ceiling on the top, but in this case the IP rating is lower. • Mechanical ventilation. A filter fan is installed at the bottom of the cabinet and a filter on the top. The IP rating remains unchanged (page 20). • Heat exchanger is a suitable air conditioning method for demanding conditions. The IP rating remains unchanged. • Cooling unit is the only method which lowers the temperature inside the cabinet below the outside temperature. The IP rating remains unchanged. This will lower the IP rating of the cabinet. The area of the air openings and the free surface area of the elevated ceiling are the main factors affecting the ability to emit greater dissipation power. The surface of every cabinet radiates a certain amount of heat to the environment. The following parameters are essential when calculating the radiation of heat up to +50 °C differences in temperature.. • “Free” surface area of the cabinet, surface that is not restricted from any side. • Heat radiation capacity of painted steel W/m2 K • Air conditioning outside the cabinet • Component density inside the cabinet, risk of thermal locks Only the first item can be calculated accurately. A commonly used value for the second item is 5.5 W/m2 K for cabinets installed indoors. The impact of the last two items can only be estimated. 2000 30 1500 Heat loss Ps (W) • Unforced, natural ventilation. The amount of heat power radiated from the cabined can be read from the table or calculated. The estimated values can be multiplied by three in case of cabinets installed outdoors due to the free flow of air on the outer surfaces of the cabinet. Circulation of air inside the cabinet is often prevented by the equipment installed. The impacts of these heat locks can be avoided by means of careful engineering and/or installation of an internal fan. Mechanical ventilation of air inside the cabinet also increases internal conduction and balances heat differences between different parts of the cabinet. If air is not circulated, heat will accumulate in the top of the cabinet. 20 1000 900 800 700 600 500 400 re tu a er s os l ΔT K) 15 ( 10 p em 7,5 T 5 300 200 Heat radiation from a freely standing cabinet Conditions: installation indoors, no air flow K = 5.5 W/m2 K 150 100 1 1,5 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Heat emitting area of the cabinet (m2) AR Cabinets 17 Calculation formulae Ps Pv ΔT Ti Tu A k V q = Heat loss emitted from the cabinet surface (W) = Total dissipation power of the equipment installed (W) = Maximum allowable temperature difference between the inside and outside of the cabinet (°C) = Internal temperature of the cabinet (°C) = Surrounding temperature (°C) = Total heat emitting area of the cabinet = Conductivity factor, painted steel sheet ~5,5 (W/m2K) = Air volume flow (m3/h) = Heat power of the heat exchanger (W/K) Emission of heat from the cabinet Ps Ti Ti Ti = = > < ΔT = ΔT x A x k Tu + ΔT; internal temperature of the cabinet without air conditioning Tu –> ΔT = Ti– Tu; heat transfer from the cabinet Tu –> ΔT = Tu– Ti; heat transfer to the cabinet Pv Axk tai Ps Axk Filter fans Ti = Tu + ΔT, Ps = ΔT x A x k; internal temperature of the cabinet 3.1 x Pv 3.1 x Pv ; heat loss radiating from the cabinet not taken into account V 3.1 x Pv Pv – Ps V = 3.1 x , ΔT = 3.1 x ; heat loss radiating from the cabinet taken into account ΔT V Pv Pv  – A x k ), ΔT = V , combination of the two V = 3.1 x ( ΔT + (A x k ) 3.1 Further information on heat exchangers and cooling units from Sales V = ΔT , ΔT = Definition of radiating surface Temperature difference ΔT (K), Heat loss Ps (W), Heat emitting area of the cabinet Atot (m2) Free-standing cabinets Single cabinet: Atot = 2A1 + 2A2 +A3 Row cabinet, N cabinets: Atot = 2NA1 + 2A2 +NA3 A3 A1 A2 Cabinets standing against the wall Single cabinet Atot = A1 + 2A2 +A3, when the cabinet is standing against the wall and the neighbouring room is warmer than the room where the cabinet is located Atot = 2A1 + 2A2 +A3, when the cabinet is located 5–10 cm from the wall and the neighbouring room is cooler than the room where the cabinet is located Row cabinet, N cabinets: Atot = NA1 + 2A2 +NA3, when the cabinet is standing against the wall and the neighbouring room is warmer than the room where the cabinet is located Atot = 2NA1 + 2A2 +NA3, when the cabinet is located 5–10 cm from the wall and the neighbouring room is cooler than the room where the cabinet is located 18 AR Cabinets Natural and mechanical ventilation Exhaust filter Filter fan Natural ventilation Mechanical ventilation Natural ventilation is a suitable cooling method when dissipation power is low and the cabinet has been located in a spacious, cool room. An advantage is the low maintenance requirement. Mechanical ventilation is an efficient way to emit excessive heat from the cabinet. It is an inexpensive, lowmaintenance solution.
