ASM Bracket Guide The Emotiva Pro ASM Bracket offers a safe and secure way of mounting your Emotiva Pro Airmotiv 4 or Airmotiv 5 Powered Monitor to a wall or beam. The ASM Bracket is constructed of heavy-gauge steel to provide a solid and vibration free mounting for your speaker; the tough textured finish is attractive while protecting the bracket from wear and corrosion; and the included plastic dress panel hides messy wall fasteners from view. Each ASM bracket ships in three main parts (the base plate, the support beam, and the plastic dress panel). In addition, each includes the hardware to assemble the two parts of the bracket and to mount the speaker to the bracket (four Phillips-head screws, four washers, and four lock washers). Because the type of hardware required to securely mount the bracket to a particular wall or beam will depend on the specific materials involved, procuring appropriate wall fasteners is left up to the customer. Figure 1: Support Beam, Base Plate, Dress Panel, and included hardware NOTE: The combination of bracket and Airmotiv weigh several pounds, and various mounting angles may increase the load on your wall fasteners to several times the dead weight of the speaker and bracket. Only attach the bracket to solid surfaces. Be SURE to mount the bracket to your wall or beam with hardware that is secure, and is appropriate for the weight load and type of surface you have. If attaching to drywall, be sure to screw the bracket to a beam with long screws or use anchors rated for heavy loads. DO NOT use light duty screw-in anchors or attach the bracket to thin or unsupported wall surfaces. ALWAYS use all four wall fasteners (use all four locations). WARNING: Mounting speakers above head level may pose a risk of serious injury unless appropriate mounting hardware is used, and unless the surface to which they are attached is solid and secure. The base plate of the ASM Bracket may be mounted with two different orientations (angled up or angled down) and, for each, there are two different attachment angles available for the support beam. This provides a total of four different possible mounting angles for the speaker. In addition, the speaker may be rotated several degrees (left-to-right) in its attachment to the support beam. Together this gives you quite a bit of mounting flexibility. Most users will choose one of the two downwards mounting angles. NOTE: Whichever angle and mounting position you choose, the support beam MUST be mounted to the base plate so that the flat surface is towards the top (and the open side of the U-channel towards the bottom). The speaker MUST be mounted on top of the support beam, sitting solidly on the flat side, in an upright position. NOTE: The mounting orientations which result in the speaker being angled upwards MAY NOT be used when mounting the speaker on a flat wall (there will be insufficient clearance for the back of the speaker). These angles may only be used if the speaker is mounted at the top of a low wall or partition where there is additional clearance. 3-3/4” Dress panel 2-3/4” AIRMOTIV 4 OR AIRMOTIV 5 5-3/4” SUPPORT BEAM BASE PLATE 4-3/4” Included screw, washer, lock washer (2 places) BASE PLATE User provided mounting fastener (4 places) Included screw, washer, lock washer (2 places) ALLOW 1/8” CLEARANCE IN ALL DIMENSIONS FOR DRESS PANEL Figure 2: Exploded view of ASM Bracket and assembly / installation WARNING: The ASM Bracket and Airmotiv Powered Monitors are ONLY intended to be mounted vertically, and upright, with the speaker “sitting on top of” the bracket. DO NOT mount the speaker upside down (hanging from the bracket) or sideways. Doing so may result in unsafe operation and the risk of personal injury. (The attachments on the speaker itself are designed to be used this way. DO NOT hang the speaker upside down or sideways from ANY mounting bracket or arm.) You may prefer to assemble and mount the bracket and speaker using one of two possible sequences. Which you choose will depend on your specific situation. You may: 1) Attach the Base Plate to the wall or beam and attach the Dress Panel to it 2) Attach the Support Beam to the speaker 3) Attach the already-assembled Support Beam and speaker to the Base Plate 4) Loosen the screws attaching the speaker to the Support Beam, rotate the speaker to the left or right if necessary, and re-tighten the screws or you may: 1) Attach the Base Plate to the wall or beam and attach the Dress Panel to it 2) Attach the Support Beam to the Base Plate 3) Attach the speaker to the already-mounted ASM Bracket assembly 4) Rotate the individual speaker to the left or right as necessary before tightening the screws that secure it to the Support Beam NOTE: The Dress Panel covers the wall mounting fasteners, and is attached to the Base Plate using semi-permanent pressure-sensitive adhesive. The Dress Panel MUST be attached AFTER the Base Plate is attached to the wall or beam. If you need to remove the bracket from the wall, the Dress Panel will have to be pried loose, and you will require a new piece of adhesive tape to reattach it. There IS clearance to attach the Dress Panel AFTER the Support Beam is attached to the Base Plate. NOTE: Be sure to mount the Base Plate in the direction you prefer BEFORE attaching the Dress Panel; and be sure to orient the Dress Panel correctly (to match the contour of the Base Plate) BEFORE pressing the Dress Panel into position.
