NOTE: Before installing, consult local electrical codes for wiring and grounding requirements. Cover * Caution: Do not push "PC'" button before the Auto Mode is completed! Bolt Nut-1 Set Screw Bolt Nut-2 Fixture Wire Mounting Screw Cross Bar Wire Nut Lock Nut Screw Wall Box Fixture Sensor Coupling Lock Nut Stem Green Grounding Screw Grounding Wire Figure Wall Plate House Grounding Wire Tail Installation Steps Bell Set Finial 1. Secure the lock nut to the stem, you can adjust the length of the stem with the lock nut. 2. Secure the stem to the coupling on the fixture. 3. Attach the tail and bell set through the stem, then secure with the finial. * Optional Assembly: (see the figure) If you don't need the tail on your lantern, please secure the finial to the fixture directly. 4. Thread the 2 screws to the cross bar, and secure with 2 lock nuts.(You can adjust the length of the screws.) 5. Attach the cross bar to the wall box by using 2 mounting screws. 6. Make wire connections with wire nuts: ---Black wire from fixture to black wire from power source. ---White wire from fixture to white wire from power source. ---Attach the grounding wire and house grounding wire to cross bar with the green grounding screw. Carefully tuck wires back into the wall box. 7. Attach the fixture to the cross bar by inserting the screws, then secure with 2 bolt nuts-2. 8. Install a bulb. (Please do not exceed the maximum capacity, which is recommended on the package) 9. Set the cover to the fixture by inserting the set-screws, then secure with the 2 bolt nuts-1. 10.Turn power on at fuse or circuit box. Advanced Features of Your Lantern Important for Your Safety 1. Elegant lantern...ideal for your front door, backyard, garage, patio. 2. Lights your way at night when you are home, working only upon detection. 3. Optional photocell function to enable operation from dusk to dawn in fully automatic. 4. Manual overriding via wall switch to keep the light on 6 hours. 5. Detector rotates to achieve a wide angle of 260 degrees from 5' up to 40'. 6. 6000 volt surge protector to prevent the damage to sensor from lightning storms. 7. High quality ASIC chip with exclusive built-in false-triggering elimination technology. 8. Auto power outage reset function to avoid the light to stay on by power interruptions. 9. Light will shut off only after motion ceases, never blinking as long as motion continues. 10. 5 sec. to 3 min. stepless adjustment, you may set proper shut-off delay time as desired. 1. Read entire instructions cautiously before installing and operating. 2. If you are not familiar with the installation in accordance with the state and local electric regulations, it is recommended that you obtain the services from a qualified electrician. 3. Before installing, shut off power at the circuit breaker or remove the fuse from the fuse box. Be aware that simply isolating the power from the wall switch is not sufficient to prevent an electrical shock. 4. Supply the lantern with 120 Vac 60 Hz power source. Use 100 watts max. light bulb. 5. Do not attempt to take the lantern apart; there is no user's serviciable part inside. Patriot Lighting TM Where to install your lantern important: Be sure of your lighting is mounted straightly on the wall, the shorter detection distance may be caused by any inclination of installation Fig.1 Fig.2 260' 100' 6.5' 8.0' 5' 40' Function and Operating IMPORTANT: 1. When power is first applied, the light will turn on immediately. Wait for 30sec to allow the sensor into the predetermined Test mode you set. (See fig.3) 2. The sensitivity will be raised as the environmental temperature getting cool. You may wish to make adjustments properly when night or season changing. You may need to clean the lens with soft cloth gently every 1 or 2 months to dust the sensor from less sensitivity. 3. The adjustment trimmers of the sensitivity and time may not in perfectly liner variation against the knob turning angle. Modes Test Switch PC' Switch Position Position Test Sensitivity Auto or PC' + - PC' Test Time + Auto Mode Auto-PC' Auto - PC' SWITCH - ' PC Auto PC' + Sensi Tset Switch Test Mode: Allows you to adjust the sensitivity of motion detector to a desired level at dusk or dawn. When motion stops, the light will turn off in about 5 seconds. Auto Mode: This is the normal operating mode of the fixture. The lantern will detect the ambient light level and allow the fixture to operate only at night. The light will turn on when motion is detected and will remain on as long as the motion continues. When motion stops, the light will remain on for the predetermined time you set (5~180 seconds) and then turn off automatically. Time + Auto-PC' Function Description Test Auto-Pc' Test PC' Mode ---Sensitivity (See fig.3) The sensitivity was set at the maximum of 40 feet. By turning the knob counter clock wise, the detection distance can be decreased to a minimum of 5 feet. ---Shut-off delay time (See fig.3) The time setting shall be performed in Test Mode or Auto Mode. However you may set the desired time approximately at the point by dividing the turning angle equally from the minimum of 5 sec. To 3 min. as the maximum. The light will stay on as long as the motion is detected continuously and will only turn off from no more detection after the delay time has elapsed. Operating Illustration Fig.3 Test Mode 1. Ideally this lantern shall be installed at least 6.5 feet above the ground. At such a height, the lantern will provide a detection up to 40' at 20oC.(See fig.1) 2. The sensor rotates across a detection range of 260 degrees with a fixed angle of 100 degrees. (See fig.2) 3. The sensor will be more sensitive to motions across its detection path than motions toward it directly, adjusting the sensor in the proper direction will serve your need. 4. To reduce possible nuisances, do not mount the lantern near heat source like air conditioners, vent or furnace exhaust, nor in a direction facing any reflecting object or other light. PC' Manual Override Mode By switching off the wall switch for 2 seconds and then switching it on again, the light will stay on for 6 hours. To return to Auto Mode, simply switch the power off and switch on again in the same manner. (See fig.4) Trouble Shooting ---If the light doesn't work in Test Mode: 1. Make sure the light is not in PC' mode. Reset the Pushbutton into PC' off and reenter Test Mode by switching the power off for 5-30 seconds and on again. 2. Adjust the sensitivity knob in clockwise toward maximum. ---If the light does not come at all: 1. Make sure the wall switch and circuit breaker are on. 2. Make sure the wiring is correct. 3. Cover the sensor with your palm to verify the ambient light level is not too high. PC' Mode (Dusk to Dawn Function): To enable the light to turn on at dusk and off at dawn automatically, push the PC' switch button upward, then release immediately. Vice reverse to disable the function and back to Auto Mode. Fig-4 Manual override operate Diagram Turn wall switch OFF-ON in 2 Seconds Auto Mode Turn wall switch OFF-ON in 2 Seconds Manual Override Mode or Reset automatically after 6 hours ---If the light stays on continuously: 1. Make sure the light is not in Manual Override Mode. 2. Make sure there is no movement to be detected by the sensor. 3. Adjust the time knob in counterclockwise to reduce the delay shut-off time. ---If the light blinks: 1. Make sure the light is not mounted near a barbecue, air conditioner or other heat source. 2. Adjust the sensitivity knob in counterclockwise to avoid the unnecessary triggering like passing car or reflecting objects.
