Assembly and maintenance You will receive your bicycle almost entirely assembled. You only need to mount the handlebars, the front wheel, the pedals and the brakes. This assembly is very easy. You can also visit one of our stores where we can assemble the bike for you for a small fee. Your bike will then be subject to local store warranty as well. If you want to assemble the bike yourself, you also have to pay the costs yourself. You won’t have any warranty either. You can find the instructions for the assembly of the bike on this page. Assembling the bike will take approximately 30 minutes. What do you need? 1. Scissors or sharp knife 2. Wrench 13 and 15 3. Allen key 5 4. Allen key 4 How to assemble the bike in a safe and secure way? 1. Start by carefully unpacking the bike. Take off all packaging materials and throw them away. 2. Place the front wheel in the front fork and tighten the screws. Use Wrench 15. 3. Place the handlebars on the bike with the hand brake on the left side. Use Allen key 5. 4. Adjust the hand brake to your own desire. Use Allen key 4 and 5. 5. Take the pedals and saddle out of the box. There’s a left pedal and a right pedal, indicated by either an L or an R on the black steel attachment piece. 6. Attach the left pedal (marked L) on the left side by twisting it by hand. Use Wrench 15 to tighten it. Make sure that the pedal is placed in the right position, otherwise the screw thread can get damaged and your pedal falls out of the crank. 7. Attach the right pedal (marked R) on the right side in the same way. Make sure that the pedal is placed in the right position, otherwise the screw thread can get damaged and your pedal falls out of the crank. 8. Attach the saddle to the pole. Use wrench 13. 9. Slide the pole into the bike and tighten it on hip height. Use Allen key 5. 10. Inspect the crank. The two pedals are attached on a rail so you can pedal. This rail is called the crank. A bolt connects the pedal to the bottom bracket, make sure this is securely tightened, or you could lose a pedal. Tighten it again after using the bike for a week, so you are sure it is tightened correctly. 11. The bike has very slim tyres and consequently a smaller valve as well. This is called a French valve. Most bicycle pumps can inflate both large and small valves. The VYDZ is equipped with the smaller valve. Twist off the black protective cap and loosen the valve. If air comes out when you press the valve, you can inflate your tyres. Tighten the upper part of the valve again and place back the black cap when you are done. 12. Check the bike again and make sure everything is securely tightened. What should I pay extra attention to? 1. The handlebars. Make sure the handlebars are tightened securely, so they don’t move when you make a turn. 2. Crank/bottom bracket. Tighten the bolt extra securely with the Allen key to avoid the crank breaking down during your bike ride. Do this again after a week. If the bottom bracket still breaks, you haven’t tightened it securely enough. We can not provide you with a new crank. 3. Tension the chain. Loosen the bolt of the far-right and press the wheel to the right. The chain will tighten and you can tighten the bolt again. Do this again every month, to make sure the tension on the chain is big enough. After fulfilling the steps, your VYDZ is available for use. Like any other bike, the VYDZ requires maintenance. We recommend you to bring your bike to the bicycle mechanic to readjust the spokes and the coaster brake every 4 to 6 weeks.
