If any defects are found, do not proceed with assembly. Use of defective components or improper assembly may result in damage or injury. Before placing a load on the shelves, make sure all of the tabs are locked into place securely. Fig. 1 A A B 2 B 1 1. Remove all of the components from the box and lay them out in an orderly fashion on the floor where you intend to assemble. 2. Take one of the cross beams (Part B, Fig. 1) and bring it over to one of the upright frames (Part A, Fig. 1). The upright frame should be stood up (it is best to work with an assistant who can hold the upright frame in place). Then attach the cross beam to the upright frame by inserting the clips into the two key holes (1). This first cross beam should be inserted into the lowest two key holes. Tap down on the cross beam with the rubber mallet to seat the cross beam (2). NOTE - Make sure the cross beam is positioned properly. The ¾" flange that the wire decking fits into needs to be facing upward. Do not hit the beams too hard as this may damage them. Fig. 2a A A 2 B B 1 3. The properly positioned cross beam should slip into place with moderate tapping with rubber mallet. If it doesn't, recheck the alignment as too much force may damage the interlock. 4. Bring the other upright frame (Part A, Fig. 2a) over to the opposite end of the first cross beam you assembled. Make sure you assemble this end into key holes at the same level as the other side. Use the same process you used to lock in the first set of clips to the key holes. 5. Now move over to the other side, opposite the first cross member you assembled. Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 to lock this cross beam in place. Make sure this cross beam is at the same level as the first one. 4 Fig. 2b 6. To continue assembly, repeat steps 2 through 5 on the second and third sets of cross beams (Part B, Fig. 2b). Make sure each set of cross beams is at the same level (as on the opposite side). A B A 2 B 1 Fig. 3 NOTE - The cross beams are adjustable and can be set at your desired height. The adjustments are in 3" intervals. A B A 2 B 7. The assembly is completed by attaching the last set of cross beams (Part B, Fig. 3) to the top two key holes on the upright frames (Part A, Fig. 3). This is done in the same manner as all of the other cross beams. 1 Fig. 4 D Fig. 5 D E F 8. Locate the 16 channels (Part D, Fig. 4) provided with this rack. Starting with the lowest shelf, place one channel perpendicular to the cross beams and insert it into the slots on each side of the cross beam. Do the same with the remaining three channels on that shelf level. Repeat this process on the remaining three levels of shelves. 9. The shelf strap (Part E, Fig. 5) is to be attached to the pre-drilled holes provided on the bottom of each side of the cross beams. Use the included hardware (Part F, Fig. 5) to fasten the shelf strap to the cross beams. 5 Fig. 6 10. Place the first wire deck (Part C, Fig. 6) into the lower flange of both cross beams (Part B, Fig. 6). Make sure that the wire deck is seated properly on the flanges of the cross beams. Repeat this step for the remaining three wire decks. C B Fig. 7 G G 11. Insert the locking pins (Part G, Fig. 7) into the hole on the cross beam flange. G G G 6 Care and Maintenance • Use a soft, clean cloth that will not scratch the surface when dusting. • Using solvents of any kind on your product may damage the finish. • Do not use any harsh abrasives or chemicals to clean any metal surfaces as it may damage the protective coating. • Metal will rust if the finish is scratched or if your product is exposed to excessive humidity, particularly in salt water locations. WARNING: Serious or fatal crushing injuries can occur from furniture tip-over. To help prevent tip-over: • Place heaviest items on lowest rack • Do not place heavy objects on top of this product • Never allow children to climb or hang on hanger poles Use of tip-over restraints may only reduce but not eliminate the risk of tip-over. Contact your local hardware store for tip-over restraints that will best meet the area where unit will be used. Adult assembly required due to the presence of small parts, sharp points, and sharp edges. IN EARTHQUAKE PRONE AREAS, SECURE RACK TO WALL OR OTHER SOLID PART OF THE STRUCTURE. Failure to follow these guidelines can result in property damage or personal injuries. Heavy duty Storage Rack is not recommended for outdoor use. 1. Weight should be evenly distributed on the shelf surface. Weight that is concentrated in the center of the shelf will reduce the shelf capacity. 2. Load small stable items on the top shelves, heavier and bulkier items should be stored on the lower shelves. Load unit placing objects from the bottom to top. This will ensure stability of overall unit. 3. Never climb or stand on the unit and do not use as a ladder. 4. Not intended to be used by children. 5. Do not alter the product in any way as it could compromise the performance of the unit as intended and will void all warranties. Revised 3-25-13 Printed in CHINA 7
