Thank you and congratulations on your purchase of an original Veloretti. The following manual will guide you through the last simple steps before you can proudly hit the streets! IN THE BOX Unboxing The box contains your brand new Veloretti. Carefully wrapped and already assembled for 85%. All you need to do is complete a few simple assembly steps before you show off on your new best friend! You can find all your separately ordered accessoires and the tools you need to complete the last 15% of your Veloretti in this box as well. Use this checklist to check if your full order is delivered in the box. *Brooks accessoires are delivered in a separate box. Uh oh! Almost everything. To tighten some parts you will need Wrench no. 10 and 15. Unbox your new Veloretti and remove the packaging material. We try to pack our bikes as efficient as possible, some parts are therefor packed onto the frame of the bike. You can find the smaller parts in the little box that is also in the box. Cut the tie-wraps with a scissor and watch the parts that are tied to the frame, they might fall down! After unboxing and removing the packing material, the assembling can begin! Just a few simple steps - no bike knowledge required - and you are ready to go. Follow this guide and watch the video on our website for a closer look: http://veloretti.com/video/ Assembly Step 1 Kickstand Start with the assembly of the kickstand so you can put your Veloretti endwise while you continue with the assembly of your bike. Use Allen key number 8 to tighten the kickstand. Stap 2 Front fender Install the frond fender onto the front fork of your bike and use the brackets to get the fender in line with the wheel that will be installed next. Assemble the fender with the ‘loop’ behind the fork, as shown on the picture on the right. Tools: Allen Key 5 and wrench 10 Stap 3 Pedals Install the pedals by sorting the pedals, right pedal on the right and left pedal on the left. Turn the pedal clockwise into the crank arm and use wrench no. 15 for final tightening. Stap 4 Saddle Finally the seat post needs to be adjusted. A good starting point is to raise the saddle to about hipheight and try if it is comfortable for you. When you found the perfect position, tighten it securely with allen key no. 6. Stap 2,5 Front wheel Not only the height but also the position of the saddle can be adjusted. Doing so might have an effect on the comfort of your bike! Put the front wheel at the end of the front fork. Make sure that the steel safetypin is in the right position (see photo) before your tighten the bolts. Align the wheel properly and tighten the bolts. You can adjust the position of the saddle by dissassembling the saddle from the frame. Loosen the bolt underneath the saddle using Allen Key 6 and change the position of your saddle both horizontally (1) and vertical (2). Make sure you extra tighten the bolts under the saddle as they could get loose after intensive use. Attention! Turn the front fork in the right position before assembling the front fender and the front wheel! Make sure that the end of the front fork points north. Before you hit the road... Optional Front carrier You can easily mount the front carrier onto the front wheel. Loosen the screws first (step 2,5) to mount the front carrier. Make sure that the steel safetypin stays at its place before you tighten the screw. The top side of the front carrier is mounted to the stem of the bike with the included assemblyset. The front carrier should be mounted as shown on the photo below. Take the screw all the way through the carrier and tighten the screws on the backside to avoid the carrier from rattling. Almost there! Now you’re done assembling there are a few very important things to consider regarding: safety. Your tires could use some air too, by the way... So before you hit the road, make sure you closely read this page and dubblecheck if your Veloretti is city-proof! Pump it up! Cycling is a lot easier - and more fun - when there is air in the tires. Pump up your tires to the amount of pressure that you like best. Use the copper valve that is on one of the tires and make sure that you unscrew the small nut inside the valve a little to permit airflow. After the tire is inflated tighten the small nut again and use the copper valve to pump up the other tire of your bike. We recommend to put enough air in your tires, as this will improve your ride enormously! Final check Double check if all the bolts are tight securely and if all components are undamaged. Pay close attention to the bolts at the front wheel and make sure both the steer and saddle are tightened. Finally, install the included reflector set in order to meet the safety regulations! Maintenance Tip! Cleaning Insurance Your bike is a collection of moving parts. When these parts come into contact with mud, grime and debris, wear and tear is inevitable. This speeds up the deterioration of your bike’s components. Not suprisingly, your first line of defence against breakdowns is proper bike hygiene! It might be wise to insure your Veloretti. When you live in the Netherlands you can easily insure your bike at our friends from the ANWB via our website: http://veloretti.com/anwb-insurance. When you want to insure your bike, an AXA lock on your bike is required. You need to hand over 2 keys, the keynumber and the frame number to the insurance organisation. Securing bolts Bicycles are held together by dozens of nuts, bolts and screws that can wear down or wriggle loose as the result of normal use. Maintaining a tight ship is important because loose - or improperly tightened - bike parts might: 1. cause poor performance 2. lead to serious wear and tear 3. become a safety hazard Keep in mind that there is more to keeping bike bolts properly tensioned than simply cranking down on every nut and bolt in sight as hard as possible. Over tightening can cause as much damage as under tightening, and it can also lead to component failure and/or unsafe riding situations. Lubricating your bike Keeping your bike parts properly lubricated is crucial for good performance. Lubrication protects moving parts from excessive wear cause by friction, keeps them from freezing up and keeps rust and corrosion from attacking exposed metal components. Be careful, though, over-lubricating can lead to poor performance and component damage (excess lubricant will attract dirt and other abrasive particles). When you lubricate your bike, be sure to use lubes that are suited to your weather and riding conditions. Rainy areas require more durable bike oils, while dry areas require lighter oils that won’t pick up as much dirt. Also keep in mind that wet conditions typically require more frequent lubrication. Check your local bike shop/mechanic for recommendations and specific lubes that match your riding conditions. The frame number can be found underneath the Veloretti. We placed the 10 digit frame number underneath the crank axle. You can write down both numbers below so you won’t loose them! Frame number Key number Let’s get social!
