E’ dotata di motore, batteria, display e controllo remoto; non è un motorino, non necessita di assicurazione, né di patente, né di casco (ma è sempre consigliato). È a tutti gli effetti un velocipede. L’ebike assiste la pedalata del ciclista, non sostituisce la stessa e per l’articolo 50 del codice della strada tale assistenza è a norma di legge sino ai 25 km/h, con una potenza nominale continua del motore non superiore a 250 W. Opzione di ricarica 1 Charge option 1 Come si ricarica la batteria? Sempice: collegando il rispettivo caricabatteria ad una comune presa di corrente elettrica o rimuovendo la batteria con l’apposita chiave servendosi poi del caricabatteria. Quanto dura la batteria? La durata media di una batteria è di circa 500 cicli completi, ovvero può scaricarsi e ricaricarsi totalmente per 500 volte e non avendo effetto memoria, possono essere effettuate anche ricariche parziali. CONSIGLI PER USO E MANUTENZIONE Si consiglia la conservazione della batteria in un luogo fresco ed asciutto ad una temperatura di circa 20°C, seguendo le indicazioni del produttore sia se si prevede un lungo periodo di inutilizzo, sia in caso di temperature eccessivamente alte o basse, per ottimizzare la durata ed il funzionamento delle celle. Opzione di ricarica 2 Charge option 2 WHAT DOES EBIKE MEAN?HOW IT WORKS? First of all, an ebike (or pedelec) is a bicycle. It has an engine, a battery, a display and a remote control. It is not a motorbike, insurance, driving licence and helmet (even though suggested) are not needed. The ebike assists the pedaling of the rider, it does not replace it; this assistance is restricted to 25 km/h, respecting the Article 50 of the Rule of the Road, with a max power output of 250 Watt. How do you charge the battery? It is very simple: by connecting the respective charger to a common electric plug or by removing the battery with its key and then using the charger. How long does it last? The average life of a battery is approximately 500 full cycles which means that a battery can be discharged and recharged totally for 500 times and having no memory effect, the recharge can be made partially. Suggestions for a proper use and maintenance To maximize the life of the cells, we recommend storing the battery in a cool and dry place at a temperature of about 20°C, following the manufacturer’s instructions, especially if you plan to have a long period of inactivity or if the temperature is too high or low. 5 E BIKES Quanta strada posso percorrere con una ricarica? How far can I go with a FULLY CHARGED BATTERY? L’autonomia varia a seconda di molteplici fattori: tipologia di terreno e sua pendenza, manutenzione della bici (gomme alla pressione prescritta etc), livello di assistenza, stato di salute della batteria, tipo di prodotto. I valori indicati a catalogo sono i massimi raggiungibili per ogni bici su un percorso pianeggiante, senza ripartenze, con un ciclista dal peso di 75 kg. Quanto veloce posso andare? L’ebike assiste il ciclista sino a 25 km/h, ma la pedalata e lo sforzo possono essere modulati grazie ai livelli di assistenza indicati nel display. Sopra tale velocità il motore si disattiva automaticamente ed è il ciclista a compiere tutto lo sforzo necessario. The values specified in our catalog are the best using every ebike in an ideal ideally situation (flat course, no restart, rider weight of 75 kg etc…). How fast can I go? The ebike assists the rider up to 25 km/h, but pedaling and effort can be modulated thanks to the support levels indicated on the display. In half an hour you cover 2,5 km by foot, 4 by bus, 5 by train, 7 by car and 12 km with your ebike. La ruota posteriore segue la forma del terreno anche durante una frenata decisa aumentando la sicurezza anche nelle discese più impegnative. BOOST E-THRU AXLE FRONT/ REAR L’introduzione dei mozzi Boost da 110 mm anteriore e 148 mm posteriore è stata guidata dalla necessità, soprattutto nell’Enduro, di ridurre la lunghezza del carro lasciando invariate le dimensioni delle coperture. Spostando all’esterno la catena per evitare che le corone toccassero il fodero basso, si è reso necessario incrementare la battuta del mozzo posteriore a 148 mm. Ciò ha permesso di allargare di 6 mm le flange del mozzo incrementando la rigidità delle ruote. Il nuovo tubo diagonale è realizzato a culla per alloggiare la batteria al suo interno. La sede della batteria è protetta da un involucro in alluminio, lasciando lo spazio necessario per la ricarica a bordo, mentre il lucchetto è stato coperto da una parete a filo con la plastica dell’involucro. In questo modo la batteria diventa parte della forma del telaio, introducendo un nuovo concept: la batteria non è più un componente montato esternamente alla bici per garantire l’energia necessaria al funzionamento del motore, ma è un componente perfettamente integrato nella bicicletta. Atala ha disegnato e realizzato una design cover che assolve non solo la fondamentale funzione di protezione da colpi e corrosione, ma, grazie all’innovativo materiale plastico utilizzato, riduce la rumorosità del motore in marcia e resiste ai raggi UV, mantenendo la colorazione originale anche se esposta al sole. INTEGRAZIONE La progettazione della design cover ha avuto come linea guida il concetto di integrazione, riprendendo tramite nervature alcune linee del telaio, mentre la sola parte destra integra la forma necessaria per il passaggio della catena. Inoltre, è stata sviluppata un’aletta che permette di offrire una maggiore continuità nella linea del tubo diagonale del telaio che diventa tutt’uno con il motore. SICUREZZA I punti di fissaggio sono stati modificati rispetto alle cover originali Bosch: è stata spostata sia la posizione che la direzione degli stessi per migliorare la stabilità e lasciare maggior spazio alla deformazione che subisce il telaio sotto la spinta del motore. In tal modo si vanno a ridurre le possibilità di rottura e si eliminano i rumori di sfregamento. L’aletta di aggancio al telaio è, invece, saldamente fissata sia alla cover che al tubo diagonale. PROCESSO PRODUTTIVO Ma che procedimento si segue per giungere alla produzione delle cover? Si realizza il disegno 3D della cover tenendo conto del disegno del motore, delle specifiche tecniche del produttore (che indicano ingombri e punti fissi) e dei disegni dei telai, seguendo il concept prefissato. Il procedimento è ricorsivo con analisi di resistenza alle sollecitazioni seguendo diverse configurazioni di carico per simulare gli sforzi a cui è sottoposto il prodotto da realizzare fino ad arrivare ad una forma definitiva. Infine viene realizzato uno stampo partendo da un blocco di acciaio del peso di circa 1000 kg, tenendo conto di una serie di parametri: materiale, finitura della superficie, dimensioni e peso delle cover e delle alette. Si può cosi procedere alla produzione di massa tramite stampaggio a iniezione e verniciatura opzionale. Atala projected a desing cover to protect the drive unit from corrosion and shocks and to reduce the noises, thanks to the innovative plastic material used. This is also resistant to UV rays, keeping the original color of the cover also when it is exposed to the sun. INTEGRAtion Atala realized the cover design project following the concept of integration, recalling the frame shape using ribs, while just in the right side a step is built to allow movement of the chain. Furthermore, a winglet has been designed to offer a greater continuity with the down tube of the frame that becomes one thing with the drive unit. SAFETY The fixing points have been changed in their position and direction from the original cover made by Bosch, improving the stability and leaving more space to the deformation of the frame under the power of the motor. A little winglet is fixed both to the cover and to the down tube. MASS PRODUCTION How the design process leads to mass production? The 3D cover has been designed keeping in mind the drive unit drawing, the technical specifications from the manufacturer (dimensions and mandatory features) and the frame drawings, following the prefixed concept. The process has been repeated many times with stress analysis following different loading configurations in order to simulate the stress of the cover to get to a final design. Then a mold is realized from a steel cube which weights around 1000 kg, following some parameters: material, surface finishing, sizes and weights of the covers and winglets. The mass production can start using injection technology and optionally painting. Sabbia e neve non saranno più limiti invalicabili. Nonostante la dimensione delle ruote, è agile e leggera. Qual’è il successo? La dimensione delle coperture è sicuramente il fattore che principalmente cade all’occhio, ma anche la pressione di gonfiaggio è fondamentale. Le coperture larghe e la pressione relativamente bassa permettono di aumentare la superficie di appoggio e di distribuire quindi il peso della bici e del ciclista su una superficie più ampia, riducendo la pressione sul terreno. Che caratteristiche deve avere il telaio? Il telaio è stato studiato specificatamente per ospitare le coperture di dimensioni generose, allargando la battuta dei mozzi e la struttura dei foderi e della forcella. Questo accorgimento sposta il deragliatore posteriore verso l’esterno e quindi aumenta il valore della linea catena, il cui allineamento è necessario per il buon funzionamento del sistema di trasmissione. A tal proposito è stata introdotta la tecnologia Asymmetric Motor Interface, che sposta la scatola di alloggiamento del motore in modo da garantire un perfetto allineamento tra guarnitura e pacco pignoni. La rigidità torsionale è garantita dall’innovativa tecnologia Airforming che usa aria ad alta temperatura per plasmare le tubazioni, con un migliore controllo sugli spessori e la distribuzione degli sforzi. PROGETTAZIONE DEL TELAIO La forma dei tubi, le giunzioni e le saldature vengono ottimizzate per la resistenza alle sollecitazioni. Il disegno del telaio è sviluppato utilizzando la tecnica FEM (Finite Element Method), che permette di risolvere le deformazioni del telaio sottoposto ad un sistema di forze. Applicando al modello le forze date dalle condizioni di utilizzo è possibile ottimizzare la forma e gli spessori per la massima rigidità con il minimo peso. Despite the big size of the tyres, agility and lightness, proportion and texture are other main features of the bike. What’s the success? The size of the tyres is definitely the aspect that capt the attention most, but also the inflation pressure is very important. The wide tyres and the relatively low pressure allow the increasing of the supporting surface and the distribution of the bicycle and the biker’s weight on a larger surface area, reducing the pressure on the ground. What are the frame features? The frame has been designed to host the tyres, enlarging the joke of the hubs and the structure of the seat stays and fork. This arrangement moves the rear derailleur towards the outside and thus increases the value of the chain line. For this reason, the Asymmetric Motor Interface, which moves the cover of the motor in order to ensure the perfect alignment between the crankset and the cassette. A torsional stiffness is ensured by the Airforming technique that use high temperature air to shape the pipes, with a better control on the blocks and on the stress distribution. FRAME DESIGN The shape of tubes, the place of joints and the weldings are optimized in order to allow the frame to resist to stress and strain of the bike. The frame technical drawing is developed through a 3D CAD and discretized using FEM (Finite Element Method) technique, that allows to solve the complex equations that describe the frame movement and the deformation under a load configuration. Applying the worst load configuration to the discretized model, the stress of the frame is highlighted, allowing the optimization of shape and thickness of the tubes to guarantee the maximum stiffness and the minimum weight. DRIVE UNIT PW-X ALL IN ONE WITH THE MACHINE Yamaha realized a new drive unit using the concept “all in one with the machine” for design and working. The PW-X Electrical System improves the already high driving performances. Higher torque, lighter drive unit, smarter display, quicker reaction: these are only few of the improvements available on the PW-X electrical System. The drive unit has been completely renovated by reducing the size of 13% and the weight of 11%.It means the best weight on the market: 3,1 Kg. Lower weight, but better acceleration, handling and braking performances ensuring the best fun and safety. It’s improved also the interaction between man and drive unit: the axle is ISIS and the Q factor has been reduced of 23 mm to ensure greater efficiency in power transfer, avoiding waste of energy. L’unità motrice trova alloggiamento in un triangolo ideale sviluppato attorno al movimento centrale così da garantire il più efficiente trasferimento di potenza dal rider alla pedivella. Il suo design compatto incorpora alette di raffreddamento per la massima dissipazione del calore.
