Manually editing tag information 8 | Audials Tunebite | Capture: Recording what you see and hear Capture: Recording what you see and hear The Capture view in Audials Tunebite offers several ways to record what you see on your screen and/or hear from your speakers. This is how the Capture view works: • When selecting Internet media recording, website audio and video content is recorded while you are surfing the web with your browser software. • Sound recording with tagging basically records anything that you hear on your speakers. • Screen recording records a part of what you see on your screen and what you hear on your speakers. What to use and when to use it Use Internet media recording to surf the internet and record music and video files along the way. Use Sound recording to produce an audio file, or Screen recording to produce a video file: • to record "encrypted" web content • when Internet media recording failed or gave inconvenient output results. Tip: • Switch to the Capture view and click What to capture how? to show a short sequence of guidance dialogs, helping you to choose the right Capture feature for your situation. • Our support website offers step-by-step instructions for recording from certain websites. Internet media recording The Internet media recording functionality provides the most convenient way to get music and videos: Simply browse popular websites like Last.fm and YouTube as usual. Audials Tunebite keeps track of all media played back in your browser, and saves them to your computer. To record Internet media content while browsing 1. Switch to the Capture view. 2. Click Internet media recording. 3. Start your browser. Audials Tunebite | Capture: Recording what you see and hear | 9 4. Browse any of the supported streaming websites (e.g. www.lastfm.de or www.YouTube.com). Listen to a stream or watch a clip. The Capture view lists all visited streams. 5. Select any of the displayed items and click Save. Instead of manually deciding which items to record, you can Save recordings automatically. Find your recorded audio files in the player. Tip: • Select a video and click Finalize selected, if you want quit recording and get only the part of the media file that has been recorded so far. • If a visited video stream cannot be recorded, a warning appears when clicking Save. This may e.g. happen for files encrypted with RTMPE. Follow the given instructions. Sound recording Put simply, Sound recording basically records everything that you hear on your speakers. This is e.g. helpful to record a playlist with encrypted audio content which cannot be captured with the Internet media recording functionality. To run sound recording 1. Switch to the Capture view. Click Sound recording with tagging. 2. Mind the instructions that are displayed. Then click OK. The sound recording functionality is now switched on and Audials Tunebite captures your sound card's output. 3. Listen to the audio file you want to record. When you listen to several audio files with a detectable gap of silence between them, the files are automatically split and displayed as separate items. All played back audio content is displayed in the list. Find your finished recorded audio files in the player. Click Stop to switch off the sound recording functionality. You can now resume using your sound card without recording its output. Continuous sound recording You can also choose to run sound recording in continuous mode: this will record only a single output file, instead of splitting files, automatically. To record in continuous mode 1. Switch to the Capture view. Open the Sound recording drop-down menu and select Sound recording continuously. 2. Follow steps 2 on page 9 to 3 on page 9 as described above. 10 | Audials Tunebite | Capture: Recording what you see and hear Recording videos from screen output Record the contents on your screen directly as a video. This is helpful, e.g. when capturing of the stream file fails. The contents of the selected area are recorded on the flow, so it makes sense to pause the video on an appropriate starting cue. You should not perform other tasks during recording. When you stop recording, the file is processed and then appears in the Player. Tip: • Set the volume of the video window to maximum before recording. • When you set the starting point for video playback, the sound is muted. This is default behavior. Your audio will be captured once recording starts. • When you stop recording, and the recorded file appears in the Player: right-click it, select "Edit ID3 tags" and provide a label under Title. To record the contents on your screen 1. Switch to the Capture view. 2. Click Screen recording. 3. Start the application playing the video. 4. Follow the instructions given by Audials Tunebite. Save recordings automatically The Capture view features a setting which makes recording items even faster and easier: automatic saving for recorded files. Click Save automatically. Several choices are offered for configuration: Options Description Social radios Select to record and save media files from social radios, automatically. Links to MP3 files Select to record and save all MP3 files that are linked from the visited websites. Sound recordings / Screen recordings Select to record and save all output of Sound recording / Recording videos from screen output recording. Other content Select to record and save all media files that do not fit into one of the above categories. Audials Tunebite | Capture: Recording what you see and hear | 11 When all options are deselected, items will only be preloaded and shown in the list, ready to be recorded and saved, individually. 12 | Audials Tunebite | Converting Converting This article covers the Converter view and its functionalities.
