Features ● Send both A/V signals and Ethernet data to remote site through powerline ● Four RJ-45 ports at both TX and RX ● Three sets of AV inputs at TX; two sets of AV output at RX ● MPEG-2 video compression ● MPEG1 layer 2 audio compression ● Best BOM cost – majority of key chips are from AverLogic ● No TCP/IP overhead for efficient packet utilization ● Simple F/W implementation ● Guaranteed video streaming quality by DBM technology (dynamic bandwidth management) ● Stereo R/L audio inputs ● One TX to Multiple RX networking option ● Typically 250ms latency time ● IR Blaster support ● OSD menu for TX and RX Introduction The TX system, combined by transmitter main board AL9M802B-EVB-V-250M with a PLC daughter board, and the RX system, combined by receiver main board AL9M802B-EVB-V-251M and a PLC sub-board, form a pair of ‘AV signals plus Ethernet data networking’ via PLC. There are four options of PLC sub-boards, as described in EVB Kit Ordering Information section. Topology of one TX multicasting to multiple RXs is also available by software configuration. Two pairs of “TX plus RX” form a “double-TX to double-RX” video or data network, where an RX can select which TX to communicate with. The TX has input of two sets of composite video plus stereo audio and one set of S-video plus audio. User at RX site can configure/control the characteristics of the communicating TX using OSD on TV. For instance, since only one video stream can be transmitted at a time, users at a RX site can choose which AV stream among three AV inputs on a communicating TX to be transmitted to the RX. Both TX and RX have 4 Ethernet ports for pure data-networking, so that computers or ADSL modem connected to these ports of TX and RX can communicate with one another for file sharing or internet surfing. IR blaster function enables users to control the video sourcing devices connecting with TX. It co-works well with major brands of PLC controllers, and has four reference designs of PLC sub-modules, each for a different PLC standard. The application diagram illustrates co-existing of data and AV stream on same PLC environment. It shows AV stream is only from TX to RX, while control commands (including IR) and Ethernet data is dual way. The firmware accompanying this module has AverLogic proprietary DBM (dynamic bandwidth management) technology to ensure smooth video quality, even under noisy power line environment. Customer can also decide what (OSD) configuration items are to be included for their system products’ set up menu, by modifying the upper layer of the supporting FW. Application Scenario Block Diagram * There are 4 types of PLC sub-boards as option: MP-110M-HomePlug turbo; MP-120M-HomePlug AV; MP-130M-UPA; MP-140M-HD-PLC.
