Move “J” gate selector to position “D” Introduction: 2. Using a panel removal tool, unclip and remove “J” gate Many Jaguar Owners are looking for a simple but effective way of finisher (See Fig. 2) connecting portable audio devices to their cars without changing the look and feel of dashboard components; namely the radio. The AUXJAG does not control or charge the audio device but allows the user to play their audio devices in 1998-03 x308 and 1997-06 x100 with CD Changer. Changer The AUXAUX-JAG takes the place place of the Changer**, Changer* but with the storage capacity of most portable devices, sacrificing the CD Changer should be an easy decision. For those wishing to retain use Fig. 2 of the Changer we offer the JAGJAG-CD and JAGJAG-CDR. CDR See Frequently Asked question at the end of this guide for more details. Installation: (To Radio in dash) dash) 3. Using a T30 torx head, remove “J” gate finisher plate (See Fig. 3) Warning! Warning 19981998-99 Standard or Premium Systems and 20002000-Up Standard Audio system connect the adapter to the back of the Radio or to the Changer (trunk/boot). 2000000- Up Premium Audio can only connect to the Changer (trunk (trunk/boot trunk/boot) /boot ). This step may not be necessary but we recommend Fig. 3 disconnecting the Negative Battery Terminal (See Fig. 1) 1 4. Connect the male plug from step 8 into the Female connector on the adapter box. (See Fig. 9) 9 Fig. 9 Fig. 6 7. Lift radio over gear selector hub and remove from dash (See Fig. 7). Adapter box female/male connections 10. Connect the male plug from adapter to Radio 11. Connect one end of the included 3.5mm audio cable (See Fig. 10) to the 3.5mm audio jack on adapter (See Fig. 11) 11 and route the other end of the audio cable to a location on or near the dash (within 3.5 ft.) Location will vary based on vehicle and customer’s preference. Installation :( To CD Changer in trunk) trunk) Warning! Simply gasp the top edges and pull down and away. With the trim piece removed you are now able to see the audio rack which holds the CD Changer, Navigation DVD Unit, Amplifier etc. (See Fig. 13 13) Premium systems will have an amplifier otherwise the system is Standard. Begin by removing the (4) 8mm nuts securing rack to the vehicle and lean rack forward to reveal wiring and connections on the back 2. Locate Data cable (thick black) connecting CD Changer to Amplifier. See Fig. 14 6. Connect the Male plug from adapter to the CD Changer connector (See Fig. 16 1 6) Fig. 16 16 Fig. 14 7. Plug in one end of the included 3.5mm audio cable (See Fig. 16a) 6a to the 3.5mm audio jack on adapter (See Fig. 16b 16b) 6b and 3. Remove cable from holding tab and separate by gasping the route the other end of the audio cable to a location on or ends and gently pulling apart. (do not wiggle or twist) 4. The female connector is to the Changer (right) and the male plug is to the Amplifier or Radio (left) See Fig. 15 near the dash , armrest etc. (within 16 ft.) Use your imagination/ method to achieve the same result. The audio cable for trunk installs is 16 ft. long and extends from the trunk to the drivers area at the front of the vehicle. 1. Start from the rear window on the driver’s side. Use a pry tool or similar to open a gap (1/2 inch) to allow the 3.5mm plug on the audio cable through and into the trunk as seen in Fig. 17 and 17a Fig. 18 18 Fig. 17 Fig. 19 19 Fig. 20 Fig. 17 17a 4. Continue to use pry tool or fingers to push cable under 2. To remove storage bin: bin Open the center armrest and remove 2 Philips head screws from the latch cover and two more from the hinge at the rear then remove the single screw on the retainer bracket. 6. Lift to remove storage bin and set aside. 7. Look inside the area vacated by bin and locate cable fed through in step 4 and pull gently until audio cable reaches the bottom edge of the console (See See Fig. 21 2 1) 8. Use the pry tool or fingers to create enough space to feed the audio cable through. Do not force. Fig. 22 22 10. Place the audio cable end on the front seat and replace storage bin. 11. Route the audio cable up and under the latch cover and secure latch cover with the 2 Phillips screws removed in step 5 (See See Fig. 23 2 3) Fig. 21 21 9. If the center armrest is the final destination, wire tie any extra cable and store it at the front end of the center armrest as seen in Fig. 22 22 (allows storage bin to fit back in place) Fig. 22 12. Secure the hinge on to the storage bin using the 2 Phillip screws and the retainer bracket screw removed in step 5. This concludes the cable installation. As an alternate customers may purchase our 3.5F-DM adapter cable to create and audio jack. 5. Use the radio volume control button to set the playback level and the audio device volume setting to match the level in CD or Radio modes. Warning! Playlist and Track selection is *NOT* possible from the radio. You must use the audio devices built-in controls to access audio files. 3.5F3.5F- DM 7. If correct operation is confirmed go ahead and reinstall the Final destination of the audio cable is left to your imagination. Test Operation 1. Turn ignition to accessory position and radio ON. 2. Press “CD” button on radio. Track or Disc number will be displayed only if there is a DISC in the Changer otherwise “DISC NO MAGAZINE” is displayed (See Fig. 23) Fig. 23 3.
