Courtesy of:DiscountCarStereo.com Auxiliary Jack Installation Guide for 1994-98 Mercedes with CD Changer not for digital Changer applications (i.e. A10, 30, COMAND,) Revised: September 1, 2015 Introduction: Many Mercedes Benz owners with a trunk mounted remote Changer option are pleased to know that they no longer have to disconnect the CD Changer in order to connect an AUX device. Vehicles. Installation: Fig. 2 Mercedes Radio Warning! Although not critical, we recommend disconnecting the car battery. Radios that are coded will not operate upon reconnection. 2. With radio removed disconnect the 10-way CD Changer plug (See Fig. 4) from Radio connector (C) (See Fig. 3 ) Radio must be removed from the dashboard to gain access to the connectors. Removal tools (See Fig. 1) are required to remove these radios from the dash. 1. To remove radio, slide both tools into Radio slots to detent position, (Straight edge facing out) and withdraw the radio by pulling outwards. (See Fig. 2) 2 Fig. 3 5. Carefully route the 3.5mm jack (See Fig. 7) towards the front of dash or mounting location (within 3.5 ft.) Fig. 4 Factory CD Changer Plug 3. Connect factory CD Changer plug removed in step 2 to the Fig. 7 10-way (black) connector on adapter harness (See Fig. 5). 6. Secure the jack to dash location by drilling a 1/4” hole (See Fig.8 Fig.8) Fig. 5 10-pin connector/plug Fig. 8 4. Connect the Red 10-way plug from Adapter harness (See Fig. 6) to the (C) slot on Radio vacated in Step 2 Warning! Should you decide to mount the jack, make sure the panel is no thicker than 1/8” otherwise the jack threads won’t protrude enough to engage the nut. (If necessary use a dremel or sander to thin the panel). Mounting the jack is not necessary but doing so makes for a stock appearance and easier to connect and disconnect your audio device. Use the included 3.5mm audio cable (See Fig. 9) to connect audio device to the jack The AUX-MB works on the 1994-98 Mercedes Benz factory radios adios with analog CD CHANGERS CHANGER S (will not work in digital applications i.e. COMAND, Audio 10, 30 etc.) Fig. 9 3.5mm male to male cable 2. Press the CD Button on Radio to enter CD Changer Mode. Radio will display Track or Disc number but no sound is heard. Note: At least one CD must remain in magazine 3. On the audio device, select a song using its built-in controls. Warning! You must use the Audio device built-in controls to access music files. 4. The Audio device should now be heard on the car speakers 5. Use the radio volume knob to adjust playback level Note: Not e: if audio playback is distorted, please lower the volume on audio device. 6. To listen to the CD Changer, simply disconnect the 3.5mm ** External or remote CD Changer refers to the optional Changer installed on the lower dash, center armrest, hatch, trunk etc. (external CD Changer is not the Changer built-into the head unit) Call 804-717-5717 or email [email protected] plug from the jack and operate the Changer as customary. 7.
