Game Rules Game Type: “Standard Backgammon,” play-to-win, rules will apply as in accordance to the rules listed on this web-site: http://www.bkgm.com/rules.html, except as written differently herein. No doubling cube, betting or point system, no extra benefit in a “gammon” or “backgammon.” e match is “best-of-3,” with a ½ hour to complete. e Head Referee has the right to call a match that exceeds the ½ hour limit at their discretion. Start Time: e 30-min match begins when the Head Referee starts the round. Players are responsible to be on-time for their match and will be disqualified if not seated at the start. It is recommended to arrive at least 15 min before your start time to await your game assignment. Start times may vary due to circumstances beyond control – be aware of your start. No exceptions. Begin Play: Each game begins as the players roll 1 die each. e highest number goes first and plays the rolled dice as the 1st move. Dice Rolling: A player must roll both dice at one time by hand or with a rolling cup. e dice must lie flat on the main play area of the board or on a stone (chip), but not on any other peripheral surface of the board such as the storage areas, bar or boarder. e player re-rolls BOTH dice if; either die rolls off the main board or, lands crooked or is obstructed or interfered with by the opposing player or anything else. e dice must remain on the board until the player completes their movements. Picking up the dice completes the play and permits the next roll by the opposing player. Picking up the dice before completing your moves forfeits any movement that has not been performed. A premature roll of the dice by the opposing player before the 1st player completes their turn (picks up their dice), is void and re-rolled after the 1st player completes their turn. Move Priority: If you can move 1 number but not both, the higher number must be played. If both numbers can be played, they must be played. You cannot play one number to avoid playing the other. Illegal Move: In the case of an illegal move, the player may correct himself even after they have picked up the dice providing the opposing player has not yet rolled. Once the 2nd player rolls their dice the move cannot be adjusted or appealed. Fair Play: e players must play fair and by these rules and are responsible for knowing other “Standard Backgammon” rules listed on the website above. e players are to monitor correct play. Disputes must be settled by the players. Any unresolvable dispute will result in forfeiture by BOTH players. Disputes can be appealed to a referee or the Head Referee. Double Entry: One Bracket-Slot only per person. No double entry allowed by the same person. Age: If under 18 years, a parent or legal guardian must be present in the tournament hall, to play. Cheating: Actual, or suspicion of, cheating and unfair play, will result in immediate disqualification and match forfeit. A disqualified player will be removed from the play area immediately. Game & Match End: In Standard Backgammon, the first player to bear-off all 15 stones (chips) wins the game. e next game begins in the same manner as the first. When the match is complete both players must remain at their game-board until a referee verifies the result and dismisses the players. Ticket: All players must present their game entry ticket before ALL matches and no player will be allowed to play or continue play, without it. No duplicates or replica’s allowed. Identification may be required. Your Bracket will be assigned based on your ticket number. A losing player must surrender their ticket to the game referee at the time of match dismissal. Progression: A winning player progresses in the tournament according to the Bracket Board, or, in the case of any inconsistency, at the direction of the referee or Head Referee. Expulsion: At the discretion of the Head Referee, any player that becomes disorderly, quarrelsome or in any other way disruptive to the spirit of the tournament will be removed from the tournament and expelled from the Festival grounds.
