X1103 February 14, 2011 HT-3000/3010/3020 REPLACING THE BACKREST OR CHAIR BASE It is imperative that Human Touch® products are repaired in a manner that ensures product safety and regulatory compliance and that is fully consistent with the practices used during the manufacturing process. Therefore, Human Touch requires that all product repairs are performed using only factory-new parts and in accordance with these repair instructions. Failure to adhere to these instructions voids the product warranty and releases Human Touch from all liability for injury or product damage resulting from the repair. SERVICE LEVEL: 3 Tools Required: Flat-head screwdriver, nail clipper or other instrument suitable for cutting zip ties, new zip tie, paper clip. HT-3020 only: Allen wrench (provided) NOTE: SAVE ALL SCREWS FOR USE DURING REASSEMBLY. REMOVING THE BACKREST (Fig.1) 1. Power off the chair, then unplug it. 2 Gently tip the chair forward until it is resting on its footrest (Fig.1). NOTE: If possible, rest the backrest on a chair. 3. Pull up on the bottom edge of the backrest cover to detach it from the chair, then flip the cover up over the top of the backrest (Fig.2). 4. Standing in front of the backrest, insert a flat-head screwdriver between one side of the backrest and the metal bracket to Backrest cover pry open the bracket, then pull that side of the backrest toward you just enough to disengage it from the bracket (Fig.3). 5. Repeat step 4 to disengage the other side of the backrest from the bracket. HT-3020 only: 6. Locate the connector that secures the backrest to the chair base (Fig.5). 7. Using the provided Allen wrench, remove the screw that secure the connectors. 8. Disconnect the connectors. (Fig.2) 9. Remove the backrest from the chair base (Fig.4). Place the new backrest into position on top of the chair base, with the backrest mounting tracks positioned just in front of the chair base brackets (Fig.6). 2. Pull up on the lower edge of the backrest cover to detach it from the backrest, then flip it over the top of the backrest (Fig.6). (Fig.6) 3. Push upward on the top of the backrest to lower the bottom of the backrest until the backrest mounting tracks line up with the chair base brackets (Fig.7). Making sure both backrest mounting tracks are aligned with the chair base brackets, lift the backrest to an upright position and then lower it evenly onto the brackets until the backrest locks in place (Fig.8). IMPORTANT: You must install both brackets at the same time. Do not install one side and then attempt to install the other side. HT-3020 only: 5. Plug the backrest connector into the chair base connector. 6. Replace the screw to secure the connectors together, using the provided Allen wrench. 7. Plug in the chair, power it on, then verify that all massage functions are working properly.
