Pronto! 482 & Pronto! 486 • High-Speed & High-Resolution Barcode Label Printing • The Best Barcode Printers with the Best Warranty
Barcode Label Printers
QuickLabel sells everything you need to print your own barcode labels: Pronto! barcode printers, die-cut labels, and thermal transfer ribbons, including black ribbons and ribbons in many different colors
Pronto! printers are used for basic barcode labels, very small-size labels, high-quality display labels, and more
Pronto! 482 and Pronto! 486 - Best Barcode Printers, Best Warranty You may know of our Pronto! Barcode Printer family simply because our printers come with a Lifetime Warranty. But we hope you’ll spend a few moments to discover that they also offer significant functionality. Both printers offer advanced networking and connectivity, high-speed variable data processing, and expandable memory. The Pronto! 482 prints barcode labels at high-speed. The Pronto! 486 prints barcode labels in high-resolution. Our aim is to give you the “best barcode printers with the best printer warranty” on the market. After seeing the Pronto! 482 and Pronto! 486, we hope you’ll agree that we have.
User-Friendly Design Why should you buy a barcode printer that’s hard to load with thermal transfer ribbon and die-cut labels, displays “cryptic” error messages, is noisy, hard to clean, takes up too much space, has a printhead that your operator has to struggle to replace, or that doesn’t come with technical support from the company that made it? Now you don’t have to. Both the Pronto! 482 and Pronto! 486 are easy to use. The design of the Pronto! 482 and Pronto! 486 printers was informed by a deep understanding of users. For example: O We know you may use an Ethernet network and want to be able to add your barcode printer to your network and print to it just as you would any other printer. That’s why Ethernet connectivity is standard in the Pronto! 482 and 486. Even more, they have a built-in web server to allow you to remotely view printer status and adjust settings. O We know you have limited workspace, so our purple cover folds in the center to minimize the opening radius, allowing you to lift the cover to re-load labels and ribbon without touching the wall, computer, or second printer your Pronto! sits beside. O One Allen head screw removes all parts for cleaning and replacement – and we provide you with a built in Allen head screwdriver to remove them.

Large LCD Display & Easy-to-Use Keypad
Ethernet Networking & Advanced Connectivity
High-Speed Processing of Variable Information Labels
The Pronto! 482 and 486 are the most convenient barcode label printers on the market. They can be operated through the front panel keypad and LCD display on the printer itself, or via software on your host computer. The 128x64 pixel LCD display with high-contrast white backlight shows graphical printer status messages, even detecting improper barcode label design and reminding the operator to perform routine cleaning. The screen can display up to four lines of text in over 25 different languages. The multi-function keypad on the front panel of the printer allows you to toggle through the printer menu functions, and guides you with illuminated “arrows” for Enter, Pause, Feed, and Cancel.
Ethernet connectivity is standard in the Pronto! 482 and 486. Built-in Ethernet connectivity allows you to add these printers to your local computer network and print to them from any location in your facility - you don’t need to be directly connected to your Pronto!.
There’s no hesitation when the Pronto! 482 and Pronto! 486 print variable information. Their ColdFire® CPU drives rapid data processing speed. When combined with their 64 Mb SDRAM and 8Mb Flash on-board memory, time-to-print the first label out is very quick, and there will be virtually no “pauses” for buffering of data and no data overload for the vast majority of label print jobs.
Ethernet networking allows you to view the status of any Pronto! on your network – you can see whether it is printing, receiving data, or in need of labels or ribbon! Our Ethernet protocol supports RAW-IP communication, which allows you to write a basic custom program to address the Pronto!. It also supports DHCP, which automatically and dynamically assigns a network IP address to the Pronto!. And, it also supports SMTP protocol, which means that your Pronto! can send you an e-mail if it runs out of ribbons or labels!
Expandable Memory You can reduce label processing time for your host computer by inserting your own USB memory stick into one of the available USB accessory ports or installing a Compact Flash card with up to 2 Gb storage, and save your label file formats, images, databases, and fonts on these memory devices, where they can be rapidly retrieved during printing.
All Major Barcodes The Pronto! 482 and Pronto! 486 can generate virtually any linear barcode symbology and 2D barcode symbology in existence. Here’s a partial list: Linear Barcodes: Code 39, Code 39 Full ASCII Indent and lead (extended Code 3 of 9), Code 93, Code 128 A, B, C, Interleaved 2 of 5, Codabar, EAN 8, 13 JAN 8, 13 EAN, EAN/UPC Appendix 2, EAN/UPC Appendix 5, FIM, HIBC, Identcode (German Post Code), MSI, Plessey, Postnet, RSS 14, UCC 128, UPC A, E, E0 2D Barcodes: Aztec, Codablock F, EAN-Datamatrix, Data Matrix, PDF 417, Micro PDF 417, QR-Code, RSS 14 truncated, limited, stacked and stacked omnidirectional, UPS Maxicode.
High-Speed Barcode Printer The Pronto! 482 offers fast, reliable barcode label printing and is suitable for the majority of barcode label printing applications. The Pronto! 482 delivers consistent, high-speed label printing at up to 10 ips, whether printing thousands of labels or printing one label at a time in demand mode. Like the Pronto! 486, the Pronto! 482 can be integrated with major ERP systems and custom host software systems via its native programming language and modern connectivity options. The Pronto! 482 is a quiet addition to an office, where periodic label printing may be required. With a die-cast aluminum housing and printing mechanism, it is also rugged enough to be placed in an industrial setting, where work-in-process labels or packing labels are printed at workbenches as part of the production process, or in a hectic shipping department, where shipping labels are printed on-demand throughout the day from a warehouse management system. The Pronto! 482 is also used to make low-cost custom labels for primary display labeling when it over-prints a pre-printed flexographic label. Many companies buy a roll of a partially-printed labels – a label printed with logo, colorful product artwork, or a simple “floodcoat” of a background color. They then load this label roll into the Pronto! 482 barcode printer, add a roll of thermal transfer ribbon in the color of your choice, and use the Pronto! to print variable information in the open space on the preprinted label such as product description, flavor, weight, size, nutrition facts, ingredients, and barcode.
The Pronto! 482 can be used to customize flexographically-printed labels. Customers buy flexographic labels (usually printed with their logo and a background color), load the roll into the Pronto! 482, and print variable information like flavor, date code, weight, and price.
High-Resolution Barcode Printer The desktop Pronto! 486 barcode printer is ideal for high-resolution barcode label printing. This 600 dpi barcode printer makes barcode labels with very small text, at sizes as small as 4 pt. type, and makes barcode label graphics in near-lithographic print quality with consistent, solid fills and clean lines and curves. Some use the Pronto! 486 to make small-size identification labels, rating plate labels, and PC board labels. The Pronto! 486 can print variable information labels with logos, graphics, barcodes, nutrition facts panels, date codes, weight, size, price, part number, and other serializing or databased variable information. Others print single-color primary display labels for their products, making labels with logos and illustrations that help promote their brands on the retail shelf. They will print graphic product labels for their gourmet foods, beverages, chemicals, electronics, plumbing parts, toys, medical devices, and more. As you can see in the pages of this brochure, a great deal of brand marketing can be accomplished when you print your labels in a single color with a Pronto! 486. And, with a print speed of up to 4 inches per second, the Pronto! 486 prints labels fast enough to satisfy most label printing applications.
The Pronto! 486 prints in 600 dpi. It can be used to make small-size identification labels such as rating plates and PC board labels with very small text. It can also be used to print single-color primary display labels for gourmet foods, beverages, chemicals, and more.
Barcode Labels and Ribbons Barcode Labels: We manufacture all die-cut labels to your order and can offer you an excellent price on barcode labels in virtually any size and shape, from a wide range of label and tag materials developed for virtually every end-use and environment. When you buy finished label rolls from us, your labels are created exactly to your specifications and are delivered on your timeframe. In addition to offering a wide selection of label materials, we also offer label compatibility testing services through our Media Lab. Let us give you a price quote on labels for your Pronto! barcode printer and for any other brand of barcode printer you may own – we believe you can save money with our manufacturer-direct prices.
Barcode Ribbons: Millions of rolls of black barcode ribbon are sold every year – and most are priced 10-20% above QuickLabel’s ribbons. QuickLabel offers lower prices, better quality, and faster delivery because we manufacture thermal transfer ribbon and sell it directly to end-users, totally cutting out the “distribution channel” of barcode dealers who must mark-up the prices of barcode ribbons in order to make a profit. If you buy black ribbon for your barcode printer, we’d like to give you a price quote on buying black ribbon directly from us – we know you’ll be pleased with our consistent, high quality ribbon coating, and we think we can save you money. We’re also known for offering the largest selection of color thermal transfer ribbons in the world, including metallic gold ribbon and metallic silver ribbons.
Pronto! MRC Program: QuickLabel offers a great deal if you agree to buy labels and ribbons for your Pronto! under our annual Media Requirements Contract (MRC). In appreciation for your business, we give you: 1) Free or reduced-price replacement printheads and drive rollers. These wear parts need to be replaced periodically, depending on use. This can be a significant unplanned expense of up to $1375 USD ($1718.75 CDN, £1095 GBP) unless you have the Pronto! MRC. 2) We lock-in your prices. We will “freeze” the price you pay against any potential increase in ribbon and label pricing over the year, so you can control and accurately forecast your budget for barcode labels and ribbons.
Options & Integration
NiceLabel Barcode Labeling Software:
The Pronto! printers are compatible with most barcode labeling software, but QuickLabel recommends the use of NiceLabel® barcode labeling software for label design and printing. Choose NiceLabel Express for wizard-based basic label design and printing; NiceLabel Pro for label design with more advanced database-printing functionality, and NiceLabel Suite for design with advanced database support, security features, custom data-entry forms, and more. Print-Only and Multi-User versions available.
Label & Tag Cutter:
This attachment integrates the cutting of pressuresensitive labels and non-adhesive tags with the Pronto! 486 and Pronto! 482 printers so that users can print and accurately cut tags in a single process. Available with optional, attachable tray to collect cut labels and tags. Minimum cut length: 0.47” (12mm). Maximum label/tag thickness: 12 Mil (0.012”, 0.30mm) on paper card stock.
Peel-Off Printer Versions:
You can print “on-demand” with a standard Pronto! 486 or Pronto! 482. If you plan to apply your labels shortly after printing, you will find the Pronto! Peel-Off printer versions make the process faster and more accurate. Whether you print just one label at a time or send a batch of labels to print, a Pronto! “Peel-Off” version printer will wind away the label liner from the printed label, exposing the adhesive backing. The Pronto! then sits with the partially peeled label in its exit, awaiting an operator who will “pick off” the label and apply it to a nearby product.
Label Rewinder:
Compact device automatically winds labels onto a roll as they exit the printer. Finished rolls are ready to be loaded into an automatic label applicator, label dispenser, or stored for later use.
Integrated Label Rewinder:
Compact device attaches to the front panel of the Pronto! printers via USB and communicates directly with them, detecting label print speed and automatically adjusting rewind speed to wind labels onto a roll without tugging.
Large Roll Unwinder:
External device for support of extra-large roll of blank labels. This unit sits behind the Pronto! 486 or Pronto! 482 and modulates the rate at which the printer takes labels from the large label supply. Max accepted roll diameter is 11.7.”
QuickDispense™ Label Dispenser:
Automatically dispenses one label at a time, reducing time and effort in hand-applying labels. Typically used after labels have been printed and wound onto a core by a label rewinder. Accepts label sizes between 0.5” – 6.55” wide and between 0.25” – 8” long (13mm – 156mm wide x 6mm – 203mm long).
WLAN Card:
802.11 g/b wireless LAN network card allows you to connect wirelessly to your Pronto! 482 or Pronto! 486, and allows you to print labels from your computer to your Pronto! anywhere in range of your local network.
System Integration Ready: Both Pronto! printers are ready for
system integration by virtue of a built-in Basic compiler program that can be installed in the Pronto!’s on-board memory or CompactFlash card to interpret incoming data and print labels written in another language. If you plan to add your Pronto! to a packaging line via communication with a mainframe computer and ERP system, QuickLabel Systems will assist you by writing an interpreter for each label format. Or, you can use NiceLabel software to capture and print your data. Note: this Basic compiler is intended to translate a small number of label templates, and is not a true language emulator.
