Course Aim This course is designed to equip you with the basic skills to become a confident machinist. During the course we will cover all aspects of the sewing machine and how to use it. We will practice things like: making buttonholes, pockets, sewing zips, darts, and hems. We will also cover some little tricks to help you do things that bit quicker! Please bring a camera so that you can document your learning as well as your fellow course mates'. The course will cover: Knowledge of how a machine works How to maintain and service your machine Sew straight seams, curves and corners What all the different stitches do and why What different feet do Threading the machine and winding a bobbin What needles to use with your fabric What thread to use How to use an iron to make sewing easer and lots more. Please bring with you Sharp scissors, needles and thread, tape measure, tailors chalk, pins. Any fabric you may have to make a cushion cover or bag I will bring zips, thread and fabric with me. I would like a £5.00 contribution to equipment used that I will supply. USB stick to download a basic sewing machine manual. A camera and log book to document your project and other people’s projects too. Parking There is plenty of payed parking near by. If you are bringing your own sewing machine, then please let me.
