In doing so you will ensure the safety of yourself and that of others around you, and you can look forward to your purchase giving you long and satisfactory service. GUARANTEE This product is guaranteed against faulty manufacture for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. Please keep your receipt which will be required as proof of purchase. This guarantee is invalid if the product is found to have been abused or tampered with in any way, or not used for the purpose for which it was intended. Faulty goods should be returned to their place of purchase, no product can be returned to us without prior permission. This guarantee does not effect your statutory rights. WARNING: SHOCK HAZARD. DO NOT ALLOW ANY LIQUID TO GET INSIDE CHARGER. ELECTRIC SHOCK MAY RESULT. CAUTION: BURN HAZARD. TO REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY, CHARGE ONLY CLARKE 20V LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES OTHER TYPES OF BATTERIES MAY BURST CAUSING PERSONAL INJURY AND DAMAGE. CAUTION: CHILDREN SHOULD BE SUPERVISED TO ENSURE THAT THEY DO NOT PLAY WITH THE APPLIANCE. NOTE: Under certain conditions, with the charger plugged in to the power supply, the charger can be shorted by foreign material. Foreign materials of a conductive nature should be kept away from charger cavities. Always unplug the charger from the power supply when there is no battery pack attached. Unplug charger before attempting to clean. • These chargers are intended to charge the Clarke 20V Lithium-Ion Battery (part number: 6487050). Any other uses may result in risk of fire, electric shock or electrocution. • Do not expose charger to rain or snow. • Pull by plug rather than cord when disconnecting charger. This will reduce risk of damage to electric plug and cord. • Make sure that cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected to damage or stress. • Do not use an extension cord unless it is absolutely necessary. Place the charger in a position away from any heat source. The charger is ventilated through slots in the top and the bottom of the housing. • Do not operate charger with damaged cord or plug — have them replaced immediately. • Do not disassemble charger; take it to an authorised service centre when service or repair is required. Incorrect reassembly may result in a risk of electric shock, electrocution or fire. • In case of damaged power supply cord the supply cord must be replaced immediately by the manufacturer, its service agent or similar qualified person to prevent any hazard. • Disconnect the charger from the outlet before attempting any cleaning. This will reduce the risk of electric shock. Removing the battery pack will not reduce this risk. • The charger is designed to operate on standard 230V household electrical power. Do not attempt to use it on any other voltage. Read these electrical safety instructions thoroughly before connecting the product to the mains supply. Before switching the product on, make sure that the voltage of your electricity supply is the same as that indicated on the rating plate. This product is designed to operate on 230VAC 50Hz. Connecting it to any other power source may cause damage. This product may be fitted with a non-rewireable plug. If it is necessary to change the fuse in the plug, the fuse cover must be refitted. If the fuse cover becomes lost or damaged, the plug must not be used until a suitable replacement is obtained. If the plug has to be changed because it is not suitable for your socket, or due to damage, it should be cut off and a replacement fitted, following the wiring instructions shown below. The old plug must be disposed of safely, as insertion into a mains socket could cause an electrical hazard. WARNING! The wires in the power cable of this product are coloured in accordance with the following code: Blue = Neutral Brown = Live If the colours of the wires in the power cable of this product do not correspond with the markings on the terminals of your plug, proceed as follows. • The wire which is coloured Blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked N or coloured Black. • The wire which is coloured Brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked L or coloured Red. Plug must be BS1363/A approved. Always fit a 3 Amp fuse. Live Neutral (Brown) (Blue) Ensure that the outer sheath of the cable is firmly held by the clamp We strongly recommend that this machine is connected to the mains supply via a Residual Current Device (RCD) If in any doubt, consult a qualified electrician. DO NOT attempt any repairs yourself. This symbol indicates that this is a Class II product, and does not require an earth connection. 5 Parts & Service: 020 8988 7400 / E-mail: [email protected] or [email protected] HOW TO CHARGE A BATTERY WARNING: THE BATTERY CAN BE HOT TO THE TOUCH WHEN REMOVED FROM THE TOOL. ALWAYS LET THE BATTERY COOL DOWN BEFORE RECHARGING. DO NOT RECHARGE A HOT BATTERY. NOTE: New batteries must be charged before use. 1. Connect the battery charger to the power supply. 2. Slide the battery on to the battery charger until the battery clicks into position. 3. To remove the battery, push the latches on each side of the battery and slide it from the battery charger. 4. After charging, disconnect the charger from the power supply. INDICATOR LIGHTS When the battery pack is secured in the battery charger, the indicator lights on the battery charger will show the charging status: Steady GREEN Battery is fully charged or no battery is fitted. Flashing GREEN Charging and the battery is more than 90% full. Steady RED Charging RED and GREEN lights both flashing the same time The battery pack is too hot or too cold for charging (below 0°C/32°F or above 45°C/113°). You should let the battery pack cool down for approximately 30 minutes before attempting to recharge. 6 Parts & Service: 020 8988 7400 / E-mail: [email protected] or [email protected] RED and GREEN light flashing alternatively The battery is defective and needs to be replaced, remove and reinstall the battery into the charger. If the lights status still shows defective, try charging a different battery. If a different battery charges normally, dispose of the defective battery. If a different battery also indicates "Defective", the charger may be defective. TIPS FOR EXTENDING BATTERY LIFE • Do not store empty (flat) batteries. Charge fully before storing.
