BEAM Trouble Shooting Guide Note: The Beam is a GRAVITY dispense system. Incoming water enters at the top of cold tank, fills and dispenses out the bottom of cold tank. (At cold tank being half full, it overflows down thru the intake port and feeds the hot tank. Weight from above forces the hot water out). No power 1) Check wall outlet circuit is operating and circuit breaker or GFI is not tripped. 2) Check power cord is solidly plugged into both wall and BEAM. 3) Check fuse compartment located at top of power inlet socket. Pop out on the fuse cover, which will expose the fuse clip assembly. Secondly, check second fuse located on integrated circuit board (ICB). Located behind touch pad, accessible from inside and located under splash guard. No Hot water dispensing 1) Depress “Key” unlock button on touch pad before pressing hot button. This is a two-step child protection sequence. 2) Check main water supply line is on at source and water is flowing into rear of system. 3) Water comes from Cold Tank overflow. Thus, cold tank water level is not full enough to overflow and fill the hot tank. Wait for cold tank to fill high enough. (This is especially true on RO systems – due to slower RO discharge rate). 4) Check hot solenoid is plugged in at ICB and operating. Located inside – in front of cold tank. 5) Check touch pad that HOT button is functioning Water NOT hot 1) Check HOT power switch is turned on to “I” position at top rear of system. 2) Depress “reset button” on top bi-metal, located on hot tank. Access: Facing the system, remove upper side panel. (remove two screws on back and then pull panel outwards at rear and then slide panel upwards and forwards.) 3) Bi-metals have failed and both need replaced. No Cold Water dispensing 1) Drip Tray compartment drawer maybe full and has turned off water. Dump the drawer to reset. 2) Check main water supply line is on at source and water is flowing into rear of system. 3) Cold tank water may have been exhausted and drained by too much use and not had enough time to recover. Mostly true on RO systems. Check incoming flow at top of tank lid. 4) Check float valve under tank lid moves freely and is not stuck in closed (up) position. 5) Check cold solenoid is plugged in at ICB and operating. Located inside – in front of cold tank. 6) Check touch pad that COLD button is operating. 7) Filter clog. Check water lines “in and out” of each filter until water is no longer flowing. This reveals which filter has clogged. Water is NOT cold 1) Check COLD power switch is turned on to “I” position at top rear of system. 2) Water level may have been drained and exhausted by over use and not had enough to chill new incoming water. 3) Cold control may need to be turned colder (clockwise) or may have failed. Located under tank (left side) and attached to rear grill. 4) Compressor relay may have failed. Replace with spare relay from parts dept. to confirm. 5) Check compressor if it is running continuously and feels extremely hot to touch. If so, system is low on coolant and needs to be recharged with R-134A refrigerant. System Beeping 1) Drip tray compartment drawer (at front bottom) has reach capacity and needs to be removed and dumped. 2) Leak Detector has detected water standing Sensors are inside at bottom of system. Remove drawer and dry the visible post contacts (located at bottom right side). Remove surrounding standing water in area. You may have to remove cover box at base and thoroughly dry underneath. Tilt system to allow water to run to one location for easier removal. Water Leak 1) Follow the leak to its source. Could be that tubing has a loose connection and not completely seated. Check by pushing tube inwards till it stops. 2) Check for disconnected tubing or water line or filter connection throughout unit. 3) Check for broken, cracked or weak fitting connection. 4) Check that the cold tank is not overflowing. Float valve may be detached and not shutting off water. 5) Check drip drawer sensor is clean and clear of excess water. Water Dribbles at spout 1) If water dribbles longer than a few seconds after dispense. Then key bounce is occurring. Change the touch pad. It peels off by prying off at edge with a blade. 2) Solenoid may not be completely closing and needs to be replaced. Check for either the hot or the cold solenoid for the source.
