Manual Gildestraße 55 D-49477 Ibbenbüren • Germany Tel.: +49 (0) 54 51 / 59 00 40 Fax: +49 (0) 54 51 / 59 00 740 E-Mail: [email protected] Internet: www.lmp.de Thank you for purchasing this LITECRAFT product. For your own safety, please read the instruction manual carefully before turn on the product for the first time. 1. SAFETY NOTES • • • • • • • • • • • The fog outlet emits extremely hot steam. Risk of burn hazard! During operation hot fluid droplets may occasionally leak from the fog outlet. Please maintain a safe distance of at least 3 m. Never tamper with the fog outlet during operation. Risk of burn hazard! The floor space of the location needs to be sufficiently spacious, flameproof, non-combustible and non heatsensitive. Please hold a minimum distance of 60 cm from inflammable and heat-sensitive subjects. Glycols are alcohols that burn with a slightly blue, almost invisible flame. Therefore, never emit fog into strong flames or pyro-effects. Please never leave a to a power source connected subject unattended. Please never ingest fog fluid. Keep the fluid away from children. In case of an accidental ingestion please consult a doctor. Fog can trigger smoke detectors. Please make sure that visibility does not fall below 2 m. You are responsible for persons that are present in the fog filled room. Spilled fluid and squirted droplets create slip hazard. Please absorb the fluid and dispose of it in accordance with regulations. Artificial fog can be produced in different ways. In this case, the applied method of producing fog with a vaporizing fog machine is hereby the safest. We don’t know of any case where an ordinary healthy human being was damaged in any way using the artificial fog. A professional application of fog generators with correct evaporating temperature and synotised fog fluids is an indispensable requirement. Still, we recommend: Ill persons or persons with existing respiratory diseases or inclination to allergies are recommended to avoid contact with artificial fog! 2. 3. View and Parts Fluid 3.1 Only use from the manufacturer approved fluid. 3.2. Canister change: • Push back the locking sleeve (2) to release the plug-in grommet (1). • Take the empty canister out of the mounting cradle. • Change the lid (3) from the empty canister to the full canister. • Put the full canister into the tank mount. • Firmly insert the pug-in grommet into the connecting hose. 4. Working with SHOCK FOG 4.1. Selecting the Location • The location at which the device will be operated needs: • to be dry • to be vibration and motion free • a flameproof space of location • to be provided with fresh, fog free air • an ambient temperature between 5°C and 45°C • a relative humidity under 80% 4.2. Commissioning • Insert the power plug into a protective contact socket (230V/50Hz). Following, the pump value will appear, for example P99. • After a heating time of 4 – 5 minutes the device is operational. As soon as the operating time has been reached the green ready-LED will blink. After reaching the final temperature (after ca. 9 minutes) the LED will blink continuously. (Up) and (Down). • You can set the desired quantity of fog emission by using the keys • By pressing the key (Enter) once the fogging process will start or stop. 4.3. Switching Off • • • • • • • • Press the key (Mode) as often as required until the display shows OFF. The machine will turn off after 15 seconds. In the bottom right-hand corner of the display a red dot will appear. Within the 15 seconds the device can also be turned off by pressing the enter key . If SHOCK FOG is controlled by DMX, it will turn off automatically after the DMX signal had been stopped. If the DMX signal is available again, SHOCK FOG will switch on automatically. Control via DMX-512. If 5 pin-XLR connectors are used to supply SHOCK FOG with a DMX signal, a yellow DMX LED will blink as soon as a correct DMX signal is available. Press the mode key as often as required until three digits, e.g. 001 , appear. Pressing the up/ down keys you can set the desired start address.. Pressing the key enter to save the start address. Pin allocation: Pin1 = ground, Pin 2 = DMXminus, Pin3 = DMXplus, Pin 4 and 5 = looped through 4.4. Analog Control 0-10V(+)DC • The 3 pin XLR connector serves as an analogue control. With an auxiliary voltage of 0-10V DC the fogging process can be started and the emitted fog quantity can be regulated. • Pin allocation: Pin1: ground, Pin2: auxiliary voltage 0-10V DC input, Pin3: 11V(+)DC output max. 30 mA. 4.5. Internal Timer • To open the timer menu press the key mode for more than two seconds. Once the device has changed to the timer mode the red LED will lighten up. The LED starts to blink after activating the timer. • Pushing the mode key the variables appear consecutively: For example, P99 ((pump value), P.0.1 (break periods in minutes from 0.1 till 99), F.01 (fog emission time in seconds from 1 till 99) and ESC to leave the timer menu. Select the desired value by operating the Up/ Down key. • Press the enter key to start the timer. The timer starts with currently activated menu (e.g. P.01 = start with 1 minute break, F.05 = start with a 5 seconds lasting fog emission). • Autostart: In case of an interrupted operating voltage, e.g. by pulling the plug, SHOCK FOG will automatically start in timer mode with the previously set values during the next start-up. 5. Tips and Maintenance • • Please ensure that the ventilation slits are free from dust deposits and clean them if necessary. Comply with the ambient operating temperature instructions to avoid overheating of the device. For example, do not expose SHOCK FOG to direct spotlights. Do not allow operating without fluid. Otherwise, the pump will run dry and may suffer damage. Using SHOCK FOG as a permanent installation, ensure constant fog free air supply. Cooling air containing excessive fog concentration leads to condensation of the fluid that harms the electronics of the device. For permanent or case installations the tank mount can be unscrewed. A maximum height difference of 1.5 metres between the extern fluid container and the fog generator should be maintained. Only use from manufacturer recommended fog fluid (LITECRAFT B III SF Fluid). Use of unqualified fluids invalidates the warranty on parts that came in direct contact with the inappropriate fluid. • • • • • 6. Troubleshooting Fog generator does not emit fog • Check external control • Check power supply • Check amount of fluid • Examine if the fluid hose is tight • Examine if the connector of the fluid container is tight • Investigate if the sintered filter in the container is contaminated Uncontrolled fog emission • Check external control • Inspect for moisture (e.g. fluid condensate in the device may trigger fogging). Fog generator suddenly turns off • Temperature controller switched off due to overheating. Remove the external heating source and provide sufficient air supply. After approximately 15-30 minutes the device turns itself back on automatically. Loud humming during fogging • The pump is running dry and starts to take in air. Please avoid this under all circumstances! • Refill fluid • Once again, examine the hose coupling and lock it again. Error reports • E-4 shown in display = temperature of the circuit board is too high, the devices turns off automatically. • Correction: Pull plug and plug in again after a short cooling period. • E-1 shown in display = sensor break in the thermocouple – send device to service station. 7.
