BERKSHIRE™ CAST IRON & STONE GAS STOVE COLLECTION
CAST IRON STEEL STONE PORCELIAN ENAMEL FIRE
LOPI has combined the appealing lines and materials of Early American architecture with the heating needs of the twenty-first century to create a collection of cast iron and stone stoves that are bold, beautiful, and efficient beyond compare. The decorative cast iron body conceals a state-of-the-art steel firebox that features a gas fire that is enchanting to watch and will become a treasure to own. Available in several appealing porcelain enamel finishes and stone options, LOPI cast iron gas stoves add just as much to the look of your home as they do to your comfort level year-around. When the temperature drops and blowing snow drifts against your door and the streets are dark because the power fails, nothing gives you peace of mind like the heat from a LOPI cast iron gas stove. Rapid heat transfer and outstanding durability are built into in the steel firebox, perfected over the past twenty years. Because it's independent of electricity, the Berkshire will continue heating up to 1,500 square feet no matter how severe the elements. Better still, gas is one of the least expensive ways to heat your home. Available with either wall thermostat or optional remote control thermostat, LOPI cast iron gas stoves are a perfect match of generations-old distinction with modern convenience. Friends and family will gather and relax in the warmth of the Berkshire stove.
Is It A Wood or Gas Fired Stove? Direct Vent Technology
Ember-Fyre™ Burner
The gas fires in the Berkshire™ Cast Iron and Stone Stoves are so beautiful that it is hard to believe that you are not staring into a real wood fire. What appears to be a beautiful antique wood stove is actually the most technologically advanced gas burning stove ever designed. The cast iron body (#1) conceals a sophisticated steel firebox (#2). A convection heat exchanger (#3) circulates room air (#4). There is an optional convection blower (#5). The breakthrough Ember-Fyre™ Gas Burner (#6) has glowing embers, hand carved logs and dancing yellow flames.
The most outstanding feature of this stove is the realism and efficiency (86.5%!) of the Ember-Fyre™ burner. When natural gas (or propane) reaches the stove (#10), it is piped into a high quality European SIT gas valve (#11). This valve has a variable turn down rate from 31,000 to 16,000 BTU’s. The lower pressure gas flows from the valve into the burner orifice (#15), a small opening specifically designed and machined to allow a precise gas flow into the mixing tube (#16). Outside air (#8) is drawn into the mixing tube as well. The fuel/air mixture is adjusted and set using the air shutter control (#17). This control allows the stove installer to compensate for variations in altitude, fuel type and line pressure.
The Berkshire Stove features direct vent technology; the entire combustion process is completely isolated from the interior home environment, guaranteeing optimum air quality. Combustion air (#8) is drawn into the sealed combustion zone via a chamber in the double-wall vent system. Exhaust gases (#9) exit in the center of that same vent.
Unique to the Ember-Fyre™ burner, the combustion air (#8) is drawn from outside the house via the direct vent flue. This air is preheated and drawn into the lower portion of the sealed firebox (#18). This gas/air mixture flows toward the lower burn chamber (#19). The burn chambers are a hollow area formed between a metal pan and the EmberFyre (#20) (patent pending) burner. From the sealed chamber the mixture flows through a unique array of precise burner ports (#21). As this mixture ignites and burns the Ember-Fyre™ burner heats to a deep red 1200˚ F degrees, realistically mimicking the of established wood embers. Dancing yellow flames (#22) further enhances this look and feel of a wood fire. A unique option for the Berkshire is the state-of-the-art Modulating Remote Control. By replacing the manual regulator with a compact servo motor (#12) and adding the 110 volt receiver (#13) (which plugs into a quick connect harness). You use the Modulating Remote Control (#14) to vary heat output and flame height in 20% increments (5 settings), and to adjust the output of the whisper quiet 130 CFM blower (3 settings). The Modulating Remote Control incorporates a programmable thermostat that automatically turns the appliance off and on, as the desired temperature settings are achieved.
Self Balancing Flue System The Berkshire Stove installer is able to further dial in the appearance of the fire by setting the Restrictor Link (#23) (patent pending). A single adjustment arm allows the installer to finely tune both the intake (#24) and exhaust (#25) restrictors at the same time, creating that “Showroom Fire” in your home. The Exhaust Siphon (#26) (patent pending) allows some of the outside air to be drawn directly into the exhaust vent, allowing dilution air to regulate the exhaust draft pressure during gusty winds, extreme cold and varying atmospheric conditions. The burning gases are drawn through an elaborate heat exchange system (#27). As the Exchanger heats up, air in the chamber gains buoyancy and naturally expands and rises out of the front to the stove into the home. The heated air is continually replaced by cooler room air being pulled into the base of the stove, creating a natural convection current.
The BERKSHIRE™ CAST IRON & STONE COLLECTION The traditional Early American look of the Berkshire™ gas stove is a collaboration of efforts between the famous Red House Design and the renown Lopi designers. This stove embodies a sense of balance and symmetry that one experiences in the finest furniture. For all its design quality and styling, the most extraordinary feature of this stove is the engineering and performance. The Berkshire gas stoves feature the latest and most revolutionary gas technology ever seen, the new Ember Fyre™ burner (patent pending). The unmatched combination of glowing embers, charred, glowing logs and dancing orange and yellow flames create intrigue and realism never before seen in a gas burning appliance.
The New Iron™ stove understates the durability and beauty of cast iron construction. This solf paint finish highligths the delicate moldings and design details of the Berkshire stove collection.
