Use a 2-Port Hub to double a single lobe’s capacity, and you can add or remove workstations from the network without any downtime. This means you can operate your LAN without the extra MAU—or extra expense—of a backup ring. Just use a patch cable to connect the 2-Port Hub's ring port to your existing Token Ring outlet. Then connect two workstations to Ports 1 and 2 of the hub. You don't even need to plug it into a power outlet because it's a passive, nonpowered device. The 2-Port Hub supports Type 3 Token Ring and has unshielded RJ-45 connections for Type 3 unshielded twisted-pair cable, or shielded RJ-45 connections for Type 3 shielded twisted-pair cable.
