BLANCO 2015 VINEYARDS & SOIL: 85% Viura and 15% Tempranillo Blanco. All the grapes come from the same plot, located in a high altitude area of Haro. Stony alluvial soil with a mantle of pebbles at the surface and a deep limestone layer (basic), on a slight slope. Low yield per vine and minimum tillage to avoid deconstructing the soil. Excellent vegetative balance and bunches receive adequate exposure to sunlight. HARVEST: Grapes were handpicked in 200 kg crates and hand sorted at the winery. WINEMAKING: Light pressing, without needing to work in an inert atmosphere, some work in the open, and about 50% of stems in the pressing. The objective being a more Burgundian style that highlights the qualities of the land, over the varietal expression. All alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel at a constant temperature of 16° C. Then, half of the volume spends five months in French oak (not roasted, steam bending) with its lees, and half of the volume is also aged with its lees in a concrete tank. TASTING NOTES: New gold color, very attractive, clean and bright. Intense but delicate nose, white flowers and fresh fruit, especially white fruit. Certain herbaceous character, like freshly cut grass. More pure notes coming from the soil -chalk and wet limestone- can also be appreciated. The onset on the mouth is wide, with a noticeable ageing on lees. Anything but heavy, a citrus acidity appears soon that makes it agile and appealing. ANALITICAL Alcohol: 13.10% PARAMETERS: Ph: 3.35 Residual Sugar: 1.3 g/l. No. OF BOTTLES: 35,000 AVDA. DE VIZCAYA, Nº 6 · 26200, HARO, LA RIOJA (SPAIN) T. HARVEST: Grapes were handpicked in 200 kg crates and then hand sorted at the winery. WINEMAKING: 3 days of prefermentative maceration at low temperature, with daily remontages and delestages during its temperature controlled fermentation. Followed by fermentation in cone shaped temperature controlled stainless steel vats. 12 months in mostly new American oak barriques. SOIL: The three soils we work with represented in the grapes used to elaborate this Crianza. The alluvial, sandstone-clay and ferrous-clay soils. TASTING NOTES: Cherry red with a medium layer. Clean and bright. Expressive nose with aromas of red fruit (cherry) and lactics. Fine and complex. Fresh and agile in the mouth with a superb fruitiness. Balanced. HARVEST: Hand picked and harvested in 200 kg crates. Handsorted at the winery. WINEMAKING: 3 days of cold prefermentative maceration, followed by fermentation in coneshaped temperature controlled stainless steel vats, with daily remontages and delestage. Malolactic fermentation in new French oak barriques, in which it further aged for 5 months. SOIL: Ochre lime stone-clayish soils for the Tempranillo and red colored ferric-clayish soils of the Garnacha vineyards. TASTING NOTES: Deep cherry red colored. Notes of freshly crashed grapes, raspberry, the red strawberry fruit of the Garnacha with lactic and toasted notes that result in a fresh and fruit driven wine. Good body, gentle in the palate, with silky tannins and a good acidity that pushes its freshness. Long, red fruit wrapped, aftertaste. HARVEST: Grapes were handpicked in 200 kg crates and sorted by hand at the winery. WINEMAKING: 3 days of prefermentative maceration at a low temperature, with daily remontages and delestages during temperature controlled fermentation in cone shaped stainless steel vats. Aged for 18 months in new and second year oak barrels of French and American (50% each), followed by 2 years of bottle ageing in our cellar. SOIL: The vineyards are rooted in alluvial and limestone-clayish soils. The former type contributes ripeness and elegance, while the latter instills structure and silkiness. TASTING NOTES: Clean and bright, ruby red color. Intense on the nose with dominant tertiary aromas: spices and cigar box. Other aromas from the grapes include licorice and black fruit. Deep. Round in the mouth, easy to drink and very gastronomic, as Haro’s great Reservas have always been. ANALITICAL Alcohol content: 14.20% PARAMETERS: pH: 3.67 Residual sugar: 1.6 g/l. Badarán: Vineyards grown on slopes of red ferrousclay soil. TASTING NOTES: Exudes a clean and bright ruby-red color. The tertiary aromas dominate, including orange peel, candied fruit and cigar box. Flavorful in the mouth with tension and acidity that keep this wine alive and well for many years. Spicy and fruity notes with an elegant and long-lasting finish. This wine is only made during those years that produce grapes of exceptional quality. HARVEST: Grapes were handpicked in 15 kg crates and then hand sorted at the winery. WINEMAKING: 4 days of prefermentative maceration at low temperature, with daily remontages and delestages during its temperature controlled fermentation. AGEING: Malolactic fermentation in new oak barrique with weekly “batonage”, followed by 18 months in French thin grained oak barriques TASTING NOTES: Cherry red with a high layer, clean and bright. Intense and fruity nose. Complex. Aromas characteristic of its terroir. Wide and fresh mouth. Elegant fruity and spiced hints. Faithful expression of Rioja Alta and Alavesa’s best vineyards. This wine is only made in those years when the grapes are of the utmost quality. ANALITICAL Alcohol: 14.5% PARAMETERS: Ph: 3.75 Residual Sugar.: 1.7 g/l. No. OF BOTTLES: 14,000 AVDA. Fermented in stainless steel gently plunging the cap to extract the noble compounds from the skins. Malolactic fermentation 65% in new French oak and 35% in egg-shaped concrete tanks. SOIL: Red colored ferrous-clay soils in the rolling hills of Badarán. TASTING NOTES: Cherry red, clear and bright, middle layer. High intensity on the nose, with elegance and finesse at the forefront. Lots of red fruit, strawberry, creamy and delicate but very fragrant. Strong aroma, with mineral and saline notes. On the palate it is balanced with good vertical acidity but persistent, fruity. Faithful representation of the Garnacha vineyards grown in cold areas in an unusual soil for Rioja. ANALITICAL Alcohol content: 13.8% PARAMETERS: pH: 3.56 Residual sugar: 1.8 g/l. No. OF BOTTLES: 4,750 AVDA. DE VIZCAYA, Nº 6 · 26200, HARO, LA RIOJA (SPAIN) T. The landscape consists of south-facing slopes and gentle plateaus, where vineyards intermingle with old oak trees. This spontaneous vegetation is indicative of the area’s marked Atlantic influence, which clearly contributes to this wine’s freshness and balance. HARVEST: Grapes were handpicked in 15 kg crates and then hand sorted at the winery. WINEMAKING: Traditional elaboration with fermentation in an open stainless steel vat, autochthonous yeast. Gentle plunging the cap to carefully extract noble tannins from the skin. Malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, with a specially selected toast so as not to interfere with the pure original expression of this wine. SOIL: Poor soils with a high limestone content helps create structured wines with an exceptional tannin concentration. TASTING NOTES: Cherry red color with a high layer. Very intense, fruity, black fruit: blueberry, blackberry, etc…As well as licorice and other notes of the soil (chalk). Wide, ample and full-bodied in the mouth but with excellent acidity which instills it with structure and longevity. Potent and complex with finesse. ANALITICAL Alcohol content: 14.9% PARAMETERS: pH: 3.73 Residual sugar: 2.29 g/l No. OF BOTTLES: 3,912 (75 cl.) / 60 (Magnum) AVDA. DE VIZCAYA, Nº 6 · 26200, HARO, LA RIOJA (SPAIN) T. HARVEST: Grapes were handpicked in 200 kg crates and sorted by hand at the winery. WINEMAKING: Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature; then 60% is aged on fine lees in a new French oak barrel, and 40% in an ovoid concrete tank for 12 months. Aged in bottle for 14 months. SOIL: Vineyards grow in calcareous-clay soil with a thin layer of small loose stones on the surface. TASTING NOTES: Color is clean and bright aged gold. Very attractive to the eye. On the nose, it boasts high intensity, and is complex and elegant from the beginning. White and stone fruits, along with mineral notes. A spectacular experience for the palate with great initial volume and citric acidity, which structures this wine and makes it savory and fresh. The aftertaste brings back the clear notes of fruit felt before in the nose. ANALITICAL Alcohol content: 13.6% PARAMETERS: pH: 3.33 Residual sugar: 1.8 g/l. No. OF BOTTLES: 2,950 AVDA.
