Bluetooth® Capability With a Bluetooth®-capable cell phone, the ability to operate calls handsfree using the touch-screen or steering wheel telephone controls is available for the 2008/2009 model year on all Toyota vehicles except FJ Cruiser, Tacoma and Yaris. The Bluetooth® feature is a wireless communication system for consumer mobile devices. Wireless communication between devices is done on a 2.4 GHz frequency band that is prescribed by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. Communication speed is 12Mbps (Megabytes per second). Transmission range is approximately 33 feet. The components for the Bluetooth® feature are: • Navigation display screen (In the case of Bluetooth® equipped vehicles without a navigation system, the audio system display and controls are used to facilitate phone calls. (Refer to the Owner’s Manual for details.) • A Bluetooth®-capable cell phone. • Vehicle microphone and speaker. • Steering wheel switches. You should consult both the cell phone owner’s manual and the vehicle (or navigation system) owner’s manual for complete instructions to set up the vehicle and phone to establish a wireless connection. Up to six cell phones can be registered, or “paired,” with the vehicle. Only one of the registered phones can communicate with the vehicle at any given time. Benefits of the Bluetooth® connection are: • Hands-free mobile phone operation with a built-in microphone and use of audio speakers. • You can answer incoming calls with one touch of the steering wheel or navigation screen. • Automatic audio mute when receiving or making a call. • One-touch dialing on the navigation screen for up to 17 speed-dial numbers, with access available while the vehicle is being driven. The following features require the vehicle to be stopped: • Touch-pad dialing using the navigation screen. • Accessing the phone book, which can contain up to 1,000 numbers. • Making a return call from the outgoing call log or the incoming call log (5 most recent calls). The Bluetooth® technology phones listed on toyota.com have been tested for compatibility with Toyota vehicles. Performance will vary based on phone software version, coverage, and your wireless carrier. Phones are warranted by their manufacturer, not Toyota.
