IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
BEFORE USE
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed including the following:
Remove all packaging from the kettle and the power base.
Read all instructions before use and retain for future reference.
Unpack and fit the spot filter, see illustration elsewhere in this booklet; REMEMBER to always fit the in-‐spout
Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs. Do not place on or near heat sources

Do not immerse cord, plug or appliance in water or any other liquid.

home. We recommend the powerbase be located as close to the power socket as possible.
Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has
been damaged in any manner.

situated underneath or close to curtains, window coverings etc.
The kettle switch actuator must be in the OFF position before attaching or disconnecting the plug from wall outlet.
Always ensure the water fill does not exceed the MAX level (1.7-‐litre) as indicated on the kettle body, and is above the MIN level (0.7 -‐litre) as indicated on the water level gauge.
Only use the kettle for boiling water; this appliance is for household use only.
The kettle must be placed on a stable, level surface.
The kettle body can only be used with the complementing power base, and vice versa; these parts cannot be interchanged with other types of kettle available.
The lid must be correctly in place during use, and the spout must be free from obstruction.
Do not remove the lid or open the lid while the kettle is in use and the water is boiling.
Great care must be taken when pouring boiled water, do not over tilt the kettle.
Always ensure the kettle is switched OFF before removing from the power base.
ALWAYS USE THE KETTLE WITH IN-‐SPOUT FILTER IN PLACE. NEVER USE THE KETTLE WITHOUT THIS IN-‐ SPOUT FILTER IN PLACE. Your kettle is fitted with a resetting boil-‐dry protector. If the kettle is accidentally switched on with less than the minimum level of water, the boil-‐dry protector will operate to safely cut off the power. To use the kettle after this safety operation has been activated, switch the kettle and the power supply OFF, remove and then replace the kettle on its base, allowing the kettle to cool down before re-‐use. Only use with water inside, between the MIN and the MAX levels.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.

HOW TO OPERATE 1.
CLEANING THE OUTSIDE OF YOUR KETTLE
Ensure the kettle is unplugged, the in-‐spout filter is fitted and the switch actuator is in the OFF position. We recommend that you remove the lid to fill the kettle rather than spout fill.
2.
You can open the lid by pulling upwards on the lid knob to release the lid. If the kettle has been recently used, steam may escape upwards; it is always good practice to angle the lid away from you.
3.
Fill the kettle, taking care not to splash the rear of the unit, and observing the MIN and MAX levels. The MIN level is 0.7 litres, the MAX capacity is 1.7 litres. If the switch area of the handle is splashed, it should be dried or left to dry before use.
3. 4.
For your safety and for correct operation of the kettle, ensure the lid is pushed firmly closed and you feel/hear the click! and that the lid remains shut during the boiling cycle.
5.
Fit the kettle onto the powerbase and ensure the product is level, stable, and that no powercord is hanging over the edge of the work surface or otherwise causing a hazard.
6.
Plug the kettle into the power supply and depress the switch actuator into the ON position; on some models, the on/off paddle will become illuminated.
7. 8. 9. 10.
When the kettle has finished boiling, the automatic cut-‐off system will switch the kettle OFF. Ensure the power supply is switched off and lift the kettle up and off the powerbase. Take care when pouring. NOTE: you may notice a small amount of moisture on the top face of the powerbase. This is condensation from the vents built into the kettle and is entirely normal.
Take care when cleaning the outside of your kettle, and we suggest the following steps to ensure a high quality finish, time after time. 1. 2. 3. 4.
Please note that the warranty does not cover damage caused by failure to clean or descale on a regular basis. Do not immerse the kettle or the power base in water Ensure the appliance is switched OFF, is disconnected from the power supply, and is totally cold. Wipe the powerbase with a cloth, ensuring no liquid enters the connector point. Wipe the kettle body clean with a soft cloth; occasionally, add a drop of proprietary branded washing-‐up liquid (NOT bleach or bleach spray) and wipe in a circular motion. Buff dry and ensure no water or liquid enters the spout or any of the gaps around the on/off paddle.
DESCALING YOUR KETTLE If you live in a hard water area, you should regularly descale the kettle using a proprietary kettle descaler; if unavailable, we suggest boiling with clean water mixed with the juice of a fresh lemon (50:50 proportions, above the MIN level).
FITTING/REMOVING THE IN-‐SPOUT FILTER (always use with filter in place)
Take care to rinse thoroughly afterwards.
You may clean the inside with a small brush if you prefer – but you MUST ensure the brush has no detergent
Your kettle is fitted with a stainless steel mesh filter in the spout to improve the quality of the poured water –
or washing-‐up liquid within its bristles.
note this will not reduce the incidence of limescale should you live in a hard water area.
Take the filter in hand, the 3 tabs facing away from you. The mesh has a tri-‐bar pattern, its orientation is up to you!
To remove the filter, ensure the kettle is cool and unplugged. Remove the lid, simply push in from outside, through the spout; the filter will fall inside the kettle body. DO NOT USE THE KETTLE WITH FILTER LOOSE IN THE BODY.
Ensuring the kettle is cool and empty, take off the lid and angle the body so the inside spout hole is horizontal. Offer the filter, the 3 tabs engage within that hole, you may need to push or wiggle the filter in place.
Please regularly clean to ensure the good looks and life are maintained.
