Specific warnings and cautions will be found throughout this manual where they apply. We recommend that you read this page before preparing your arcade cabinet for game play. Use the following safety guidelines to help protect the system from potential damage and to ensure your personal safety. To help avoid damage to the computer, the power supply automatically detects the voltage to match the AC power available at the location: o 115 volts / 60Hz in most of North and South America and some Far Eastern countries such as Japan, South Korea and Taiwan o 230 volts / 50Hz in most of Europe, the Middle East and the Far East To help prevent electric shock, plug the system into properly grounded power source. These cables are equipped with 3-prong plugs to help ensure proper grounding. Do not use adapter plugs or remove the grounding prong from a cable. If you must use an extension cable, use a 3 wire cable with properly grounded plugs To help protect your system from sudden, transient increases and decreases in electrical power, use a surge suppressor, line conditioner or Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). Be sure nothing rests on the system’s cables and that the cables are not located where they can be stepped on or tripped over. Do not spill food or liquid on the cabinet. Do not push any objects into the openings of the system. Doing so can cause fire or electric shock by shorting out interior components. Keep your machine far away from radiator and heat sources. Always return the cabinets leg levelers to the extreme upright position, before attempting to move the game Do not block cooling vents. Warnings WARNING To avoid electrical shock, unplug the cabinet before performing the installation procedures. UltraCade Technologies assumes no liability for any damages or injuries incurred while setting up the cabinet. As such, only qualified service personnel should perform this installation! A Cable/DSL Router is required to assign a local IP address to the Breeders’ Cup cabinets so they are able to link in a local network. Once the cabinets have an IP address, you can set the cabinet ID number, and you are ready to play individually, or against other live players. Follow the instructions below to link your Breeders’ Cup cabinets correctly. Most Cable/DSL routers should work with the Breeders’ Cup cabinets. UltraCade Technologies recommends using a Linksys BEFSR41 Cable/DSL Router or a D-Link DI604 Cable/DSL Router. These Cable/DSL Routers are the most common routers you will find at your local computer store or Internet Service Provider (ISP). The 4-port or 8-port Cable/DSL Router can support up to 12 cabinets with the addition of a standard ethernet hub linked to the router. 1. Install the Cable/DSL Router close to the Breeders’ Cup cabinets if possible. This will help reduce the Ethernet wire length needed to connect the cabinets and help reduce the cost. 2. Connect one end of the ethernet cable to the ethernet connector at the back of the cabinet next to the power switch. 3. Next connect the other end of the ethernet cable to the LAN or local ports on the Cable/ DSL Router or Ethernet HUB linked to a Cable/DSL Router. 4. Make sure the Cable/DSL Router is powered on. Then power ON each Breeders’ Cup cabinet that is linked. If the Breeders’ Cup cabinet is already powered ON you will need to power the cabinet OFF then ON again. 5. When the Breeders’ Cup cabinet is powered ON and running the attract mode, press the Test button to enter the Operator Menu. Go to DIAGNOSTICS MNEU \ UPDATE STATUS menu and verify the cabinet has an assigned IP address. If there is no IP address verify the Cable/DSL Router is setup correctly. 6. Next go to GAME OPTIONS menu and set the cabinet linking to ON for each cabinet. 7. When you have finished go to the NETWORK STATUS menu and verify the number of cabinets connected in the local network group. Page 8 of 42 040-BC_OPER-UCT Rev .03 11/17/2006 Breeders’ Cup Operator Manual © & ™ 2005 UltraCade Technologies All Rights Reserved Internet Connectivity Setup In order to participate in tournament races and to download software updates you will need to connect the cabinet to a broadband internet connection from a local Internet Service Provider. UltraCade Technologies provides support to help you get your cabinets linked to the Internet, but we can not work directly with the Internet Service Provider to get your internet connection working at the location or with the Cable/DSL Router. The operator must have a working broadband internet connection like a DSL modem or Cable modem at the location with a valid account before attempting any of the setup described below. Internet Connection Tips When working with your broadband internet service provider here are some tips that may help you when choosing service for your location: • You do not need a Static IP Address for your Cable / DSL modem. A Dynamic IP address will work just fine, and a Dynamic IP address is usually cheaper than a Static IP address. • Depending on the area you live in a Cable modem can be more reliable than a DSL modem especially if you are in an area were lightning strikes are more common. • Most internet service providers have a packaged deal where they will sell you a Cable/DSL Router with your Cable or DSL service, and provide tech support to help get your Cable/DSL Router connected to the Internet. • When setting up the Cable/DSL Router you will need a computer or laptop that can program the Cable/DSL Router to connect to the Internet. The Cable/DSL Router should be setup to be constantly connected to the Internet. The Breeders’ Cup cabinet computer can not be used to program the Cable/DSL Router. Setting Up the Internet Connection Before you begin make sure you have followed the steps to linking the Breeders’ Cup cabinet in the previous page. Do not attempt any of the setup steps below if your internet connection is not turned on or not setup. 1. Make sure the Cable/DSL modem is turned ON and connected to the Internet. 2. Next turn ON the Cable/DSL Router. You must have an ethernet cable connected from the Internet / WAN port on the router to the ethernet port on the Cable/DSL modem. ™ At this point these instructions assume you have already setup you Cable/DSL Router to correctly talk with the Cable/DSL Modem to keep the Internet connection constantly ON. Breeders’ Cup Operator Manual 040-1201-01 Rev .03 11/17/2006 © & ™ 2005 UltraCade Technologies All Rights Reserved Page 9 of 42 3. If your Breeders’ Cup cabinets are not already linked to the router follow the steps on page 8 Linking Breeders’ Cup Cabinets. 4. Once the cabinets are connected to the Cable/DSL Router go to the UPDATE STATUS menu in the Operator Test menu and verify each cabinet has an IP Address. 5. In the same menu just under the IP Address is either 2 words • Registered – The cabinet is talking to the Breeders’ Cup Tournament Servers and all is working correctly. • Unregistered – The cabinet is not talking with the Breeders’ Cup Tournament Servers. If you have an IP Address verify the internet connection is working, or that your Cable/DSL Router is setup correctly to allow the Breeders’ Cup cabinets to link with the Internet. 6. If the Update Status page says that the cabinet is registered, then your Breeders’ Cup cabinet is connected to the Internet and ready to play in Tournament Races.
