FAQS ON BRETFORD MOBILE CARTS How do I open the lock? Your cart has two locks, one on the front and one on the back. Each lock should have the same combination. Your combination should be pre-set to your 4-digit school code. To open, dial the 4-digit combination and depress the shackle. If it does not open, please try combination 7-5-3-1. If neither of these work, please contact the ETS help desk. How can I change the 4-digit combination? If your school needs to change the combination at some point in the future, please follow the followig 5 steps: 1. Dial the 4-digit combination, depress the shackle and open the lock. 2. INSERT the “reset key” (provided with lock) in hole on side of lock. 3. PUSH key in and TURN 90 degrees in either direction(key automatically stays in this position). NOTE: Failure to push the key all the way into the hole with force before turning may result in a failed attempt to change combination. 4. SET wheels to desired combination. NOTE: Be sure to set wheels precisely on numbers. 5. TURN and remove the reset key. The lock is now set to new combination. Where do I plug in the laptops? Open up the front of the cart and look in the back of each compartment. You will find one electrical outlet available for each laptop. Please note that there are two 16-outlet electrical panels inside each cart. One provides outlets to the top shelf of laptops and the other provides outlets to the bottom shelf of laptops. An on/off switch can be found on the bottom edge of each electrical unit. Please be sure to keep this switch in the on position in order to support the function of the charging timer. What does the power switch on the back of the cart do? This power switch turns on the charging timer. In the ON position, the charging timer switches the electrical current from the top electrical panel to the bottom electrical panel. This allows you the convenience of plugging in one cord (from the charging timer) into a standard wall outlet and charge all of the laptops in the cart overnight. Indicator lights next to the switch will show you if the top or bottom half is charging. NOTE: The 16-outlet electrical panels inside the cart should be plugged directly into the charging timer (one of the left side of timer, one on the right). The timer cord should exit the cart and be plugged directly into a wall outlet in order to power all of the laptops overnight.
Where do I plug in the printer and the wireless base station? Open up the back of the cart and locate the 4-outlet power strip. The power cord for the 4-outlet power strip should exit the cart and be plugged directly into a wall outlet in order to provide power to these peripherals. Are there any safety precautions I should take when plugging in the cart? Yes, be sure to have the power switch on the back of the cart is set on OFF before you plug it in. NOTE: Failure to set power switch to OFF position may create sparks when trying to plug into the wall. There is a lot of equipment in the cart and each item draws a lot of power.
