I NT R O D UCT I O N Scheduled to open in the autumn of 2019, Cromwell Place offers a groundbreaking solution for galleries and art professionals seeking a presence in central London. Five historic Grade II listed buildings provide a variety of well proportioned exhibition spaces, viewing rooms, permanent offices, hot desking, art storage as well as technical, logistical and marketing support. The first of its kind, Cromwell Place offers a unique proposition for galleries and art professionals as well as a timely response to the changing needs of today’s global art market. Cromwell Place is highly flexible in how it can be used and can service many different requirements: a permanent base for an existing gallery wishing to maintain an annual exhibition programme. International galleries can establish a foothold in London, expanding their programme and collector base in one of the world’s most important art markets. For secondary market dealers, it offers a discreet and convenient location to store work, meet clients, and hold exhibitions. Cromwell Place offers everything a gallery or art professional needs to operate, with members paying only for the space and services they require. Membership is open to UK and international galleries, art dealers, advisers and curators. Cromwell Place aims to establish a thriving collaborative atmosphere, enhancing the scope and ambition of exhibitions whilst building a reputation for the quality and professionalism of its members.

LO CATIO N Cromwell Place is situated in the heart of South Kensington’s museum district, opposite the Natural History Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and adjacent to South Kensington tube Station. South Kensington is an area with a rich cultural history; originally known as Prince Albert’s ‘Albertopolis’, it developed into one of Europe’s most successful cultural hubs during the second half of the 19th Century. The spirit of Albertopolis continues with exciting new projects at the Victoria and Albert Museum and a growing number of design businesses clustering nearby. M E MBE R SHIP Cromwell Place welcomes applications from galleries and art professionals who believe in the effectiveness of a collaborative approach to the art market. Membership is open to domestic and international galleries, dealers, advisers and curators, across all specialties, providing the applicants can demonstrate a high standard of curatorial and professional competence. To nurture a balanced year-round programme, applicants will be asked to provide an indication of how they intend to use the facilities, including the frequency and scope of any planned exhibitions. To ensure that Cromwell Place can meet the needs of each applicant the application process is split into two rounds. • First round of applications opens from October 2017 to February 2018. • Second round of applications opens from April 2018 to September 2018. TH E M E M B E R S H IP C OM MIT T EE The Committee will initially be comprised of the management team and trusted advisors. Subsequently it will be comprised of Cromwell Place members. Once Cromwell Place is open, the Committee’s role will be to represent the interest of members and advise the management team.

VAT) per annum and is designed for those members wishing to maintain a permanent office in Cromwell Place and use the full facilities. VAT) per annum and is designed for those members wishing to use the facilities of Cromwell Place on a regular basis, whilst keeping offices elsewhere. INTER NATIO NA L M EM B ER S H IP International Membership is available for £3,000 (excl. VAT) per annum and is designed for international members using the facilities of Cromwell Place. This is catered for international members who wish to exhibit at Cromwell Place once or twice a year. NO N-EX H IB ITING M EM B ER S H IP Non-Exhibiting Membership is available for £2,000 (excl. VAT) per annum and is designed for international and UK based galleries, organisations and art professionals working privately and only requiring the use of art storage and viewing rooms. INCU B ATO R M EM B ER S H IP Free annual Membership of Cromwell Place will be given to up to three new galleries or businesses every year to help establish their business. Sixteen period galleries are located on the ground, first and second floors. Each gallery has been individually designed to maintain the personality and integrity of the original room yet discreetly modified to suit the anticipated needs of most types of exhibition. The original 19th century architectural features including timber floors, full-height balcony windows and visible original fireplaces have been integrated into the designs.
Featuring a private entrance, five viewing rooms in the lower ground floor can be prepared in advance by our technical team. These rooms are suited for showing artworks to collectors in complete privacy. They can be booked in three hour slots, including morning and evening viewings. The rooms can also be used for photography, conservation and cataloguing work.
TH E PAV I L I O N G ALLERY At the heart of Cromwell Place is the Pavilion Gallery, a bespoke museumgrade gallery, offering up to 2,250 sq ft (230 m 2 ) of exhibition space with a dedicated entrance. The Pavilion Gallery is available to all members, with a minimum hire period of three weeks, including set-up time. Individual galleries are priced depending on size, location and date. In order to ensure that members have maximum flexibility, larger exhibition spaces can be created by linking together rooms laterally or vertically, and within each building.
E XH I B I T I O N D ES IG N The galleries have been individually designed to provide a variety of options suitable for numerous exhibiton formats. Members will be able to install shows independently, or alternatively, they can use the Cromwell Place in-house technical team for complete or partial installations. For an additional fee, specialist fabricators and designers will also be available to help plan and install more complex projects, including the use of temporary walls, spreader plates for sculptures, and ceilingmounted displays. A carefully selected palette of white and grey tones will be used throughout Cromwell Place. Members can change wall colour on request. If preferred, fabric-covered walls as well as temporary exhibition carpeting can also be installed in most spaces. Artworks can be directly wall-mounted, or suspended from hanging rails.

STO R AGE The storage, packing, shipping, and logistical facilities are a unique feature of Cromwell Place, and the only resource of its kind in central London. An experienced in-house team of art handlers will be available to install shows, arrange deliveries, and organise packing. The 2,200 sq ft secure storage area and in-house technical team will make installation and set-up an efficient and smooth process.
EXHI B I T I O N S CHED UL E New exhibitions will open on alternate weeks, with at least eight of the sixteen spaces presenting a new show every week. Each exhibitor will be responsible for staffing their own space during the course of their exhibition. As Cromwell Place is designed as an intimate space, public access may be restricted at busier times with advance booking necessary to avoid overcrowding.

O F F ICES Twenty-five office spaces will be available for members to relocate their businesses or base their London operation in Cromwell Place. Resident Members receive priority booking for exhibition space and benefit from their proximity to the facilities of Cromwell Place and the daily interaction with colleagues and visitors. The offices are available on five-year occupational licenses and offered to tenants in a basic shell scheme. At their cost, members can design their space as required and a selection of offices can be inter-connected within each building to provide additional space. A quarterly service charge will cover additional costs including rates and electricity, as well as a proportional contribution towards building maintenance and insurance. H OT D ES K O F F I C ES A ND MEET ING RO OMS For members who require a desk on a more temporary basis, hot-desking facilities will be available. Members may book individual desk space on a daily or weekly basis, subject to availability. The space includes access to printers and high-speed wi-fi. Private meeting rooms may also be booked by the hour, subject to availability.
CLUB R O O M The social heart of Cromwell Place will be the Club Room. This room, which offers a Grade II-listed mirrored interior, is where members will be able to to meet colleagues and entertain clients and friends. Catering facilities at Cromwell Place will provide tea & coffee facilities and a daily breakfast and lunch menu. Larger dinners are catered by external caterers by prior arrangement. Depending on their membership tier, members will be given an allocation of access cards, with additional ones being purchased for additional directors and senior staff.

S U PP O RT FO R MEMBER S M A R K ET I N G All Members will benefit from access to in-house marketing and advertising provided by Cromwell Place. Each member will be responsible for marketing their own shows to their existing client base. The Cromwell Place marketing team may be available to provide an additional resource, working with press and digital media platforms to provide content-rich information on the exhibitions. The team will also work to widen the networks of visitors to Cromwell Place, focusing particularly on international and local collectors, through direct marketing and strategic partnerships. C RO M W E L L P L ACE A PP Built specifically for the needs of members, the Cromwell Place app will support and streamline all bookings and management of all facilities. The app functions as a communications tool for members and as an information point for visitors. We envisage it allowing members to issue door access passes to clients and digital invitations for openings, as well as providing regular updates and news on exhibitions. C UR ATO R S , M U S EU MS A ND FOU NDAT IONS Creating lasting partnerships with public arts institutions and organisations is an important aspect of Cromwell Place. As part of the scheme’s public benefit commitment, there will be opportunities for museums and noncommercial arts organisations to have access to the Cromwell Place facilities through a complimentary Associate Membership scheme for senior directors, scholars and curators. Additionally, Cromwell Place will provide exhibition space each year for public arts institutions wishing to showcase their collections or exhibitions to a London audience.
