B 12/2014 f POLICIES High School Students The Studio, the library’s space reserved for high school students, is located on the second floor. Browse our book collection, use the computers, study, play games, meet up with friends, or just hang out. Indian Trails Public Library Cardholders ONLY LOAN PERIODS Adults MEMBER SERVICES Come for our books, DVDs, CDs, and magazines and stay to ask us questions about what to read next, how to find information or how to use your eReader. Many resources such as ebooks, sources for business or personal research, and free music and ebook downloads are available at the library or from home. Library Computers All computers and printers in the library are connected to the Internet and have software applications installed for normal office tasks, such as word processing. Computers on the second floor are reserved for high school-aged and older. First floor computers are designated for families and children through 8th grade. The library has Mac and Windows computers available. Computers may be used for one hour. This can be extended if no one is waiting. Please bring a flash drive to save your work, as nothing can be saved to the computers. Wireless Access The library offers a free Wi-Fi connection that you can access from your laptop, tablet, or other personal device. To log on, simply access the “public” network on your device. No password is needed. Technology The library offers a variety of services from computer classes to one-on-one training sessions to help you navigate and use today’s technology. We can help beginners who want to learn how to open a word document and experienced users who are interested in organizing and editing family photos. The library also offers various eReaders and other devices that can be checked out. Programs Storytimes, book discussions, musical performances, and lectures are just a few of the programs you’ll find at the library. All events are announced on the library’s website and in the newsletter mailed to residents. If you do not live in the district, but wish to receive the newsletter, please visit us at itpld.org. You can also sign up for the eNewsletter by giving us your email address. BRANCH Copying, Faxing, Printing, and Scanning Copy, fax, and print services are available for a nominal fee. Scanning services are free. The KidZone, for birth through grade 5, is a family-friendly area with books, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, magazines, computers, and a collection of parenting resources. Our early learning area includes puppets, games, and educational toys and computers. Renewal of Interlibrary Loan material is at the discretion of the lending library. Interlibrary Loan As an Indian Trails Library cardholder you may borrow items not available in the library’s collection from another library. These items may have a different checkout period, depending on the lending library. All Indian Trails late fees apply. Article reprints are $1. Residents who are unable to visit the library for medical reasons may request free delivery and pick up of library materials to their homes by calling 847.459.4100. • Pick up items from a locker using a special code at your convenience. • Renew your materials through the website or by phone. • Do your research from home or work using the library’s website to access online resources. Palatine Rd., Prospect Heights The branch offers popular English- and Spanish-language DVDs, magazines, and books; Polish-language books; and movies in Hindi. Several desktop computers and laptops are available with Internet access. Items requested from the main library or through Interlibrary Loan may be picked up and returned here. All library material, with the exception of Hot Picks and Prospect Heights Branch items, can be reserved using your library account number. You will be notified by phone or email when your reserved items are ready for pick-up. Because some titles may have a long list of reservations, the library makes non-reservable copies of popular items available for check out on a first-come, first-served basis. Lost or Damaged Materials Borrowers may pay for lost or damaged items by cash, check or credit card. Patrons who have accrued late fees or overdue items may have limited access to some services.
