Laptop-Ready TEC Brooks Multi-purpose Room General Directions: 1. Contact the House administrators for access to the Closet Rack, if you wish to playback Video; or iPod or CD audio, in the Multi-purpose Room. Activate the room sound 1. Press the Power button on the white touch screen panel on right wall as you enter the room (labeled “Brooks Multi-purpose Room”). This activates the room sound. 2. Select the sound source. iPod CD Volume (status bar) PC VID MICS DV CR Rack iPod - Audio from iPod attached to iPod dock in Closet Rack CD - Audio from CD played on CD Player in Closet Rack MICS - Audio from Microphone(s) plugged into Mic jacks in Multi-Purpose Room DV CR - Audio from DVD or VHS played in Closet Rack PC - Audio from Laptop plugged into Audio jack of “Computer In” wall plate VID - Audio from external video player/source plugged into Audio jacks of “Video” wall plate Rack - Audio from MP3 player or iPod plugged into Closet Rack Audio cable 3. Press Vol+ or Vol- or Mute to control the source Volume. 4. To change your selection, press the Home button to return to the start screen with all the selections. Turn on the Projector 1. Find the black touch screen panel labeled Projector Control on the right wall near the front of the room. 2. Press and hold the ON button to turn the projector on. 3. Select the source you want to project. PC DVD/VCR Video PC - Video from a laptop plugged into the Computer In wall plate. DVD/VCR - Video from a DVD or VHS played in Closet Rack Video - Video from external video player/source plugged into Video wall plate 4. Find the white plate labeled Screen on the right wall (in same location). Press the Down arrow to lower the screen. To Display a Laptop 1. Press the PC source on the Projector Control plate. 2. Attach the laptop to the Computer In jack on the wall with a VGA cable. Attach an audio cable to the audio jack if you wish to hear computer sound. 3. Select PC on room sound panel to distribute computer sound to the room. Select DVD/VCR on the Projector Control panel. 2. Select DV CR on room sound control to send Video sound to the room. 3. Insert DVD or VHS tape into Closet Rack DVD/VCR. 4. Control playback using the controls on the Closet Rack player. To Playback a Video Source (from an external player/source) 1. Attach a video source, such as a camcorder or DVD player, to the Video and Audio Jacks on the wall with RCA cables (Yellow, Red, White). 2. Select VIDEO on the Projector Control panel. 3. Select VID on room sound control to send external player sound to the room. 4. Insert your media. Control playback using the controls on the video source. To Use a Microphone 1. Press Mics on the room sound control. 2. Plug a microphone into a room microphone jack, found on the left and right front wall. 3. Control the volume via the room sound control panel. (N.B. - The Shure ULXS4 in Closet Rack must be ON to operate the wireless mic) To Play an iPod (from Closet Rack) 1. Attach an iPod to the Closet Rack iPod dock. 2. Select iPod on the Multi-purpose Room sound panel to hear iPod sound. 3. Control playback via the iPod sub-menu on the room sound panel. To Play an MP3 player (from Closet Rack) 1. Attach an MP3 player (or iPod) to Closet Rack audio cable (labeled “Rack”) 2. Select Rack on the Multi-purpose Room sound panel to hear MP3 sound. 3. Control playback via the MP3 player in the Closet Rack. To Play a Compact Disc (from Closet Rack) 1. Insert a CD into the CD player in the Closet Rack. 2. Select CD on the Multi-purpose Room sound panel to hear CD sound. 3. Control playback via the CD player in the Closet Rack. Shut Down 1. Press and hold the OFF button on the Projector Control panel until the projector light goes off and the projector fan starts. The OFF button will flash until the projector has cooled off. 2. Raise the screen by pressing the UP arrow on the Screen control panel. 3. Press the Power button on the room sound panel to turn off room sound. 4. Eject any DVDs, VHS tapes, CDs, or iPods/MP3s playing in the Closet Rack.
