Buddy USB 6G is our 6th generation USB adapter that has an inbuilt high-quality sound card, which replaces a desktop or laptop computer’s sound card for high performance speech sound input and output. It offers full duplex operation for connection with microphone and speakers that is especially well suited to speech recognition applications, and includes a mute switch and indicator lights for power and mute status. Speech Recognition applications on the PC rely on good quality sound input to maintain good performance. Most PCs today have a built in sound card (or chipset), that is often placed close to high electrical noise circuitry like the power supply or other chips working at very high frequencies. This is particularly a problem with most laptop computers. Buddy USB 6G has the unique advantage of being largely immune to those noises as it is external to the computer chassis.
Features Applications Even though Buddy USB 6G is designed for high performance demanded by speech recognition application, it can be used in any application that requires clear speech input such as VOIP. In general you can use it as a replacement sound card for practically any headset or for devices with headset like characteristics.
Additional Features • Connectors on Buddy USB 6G conform to PC-99 standards and accept 3.5 mm (1/8”) stereo audio connectors.
• A green LED towards the cable lights to indicate power and operational readiness.
• It also includes a convenient mute push button, which toggles the microphone signal on and off.
USB Interface The USB interface is 2.0 compliant with 12 mega bit transfer rate, and can be used in any USB 2 or USB 1.1 slot in your Windows or Macintosh computers. USB.org, the official governing body of all Universal Serial Bus applications and products, has officially certified the Buddy USB 6G to meet USB standards. The USB cable is 4 inches in length. Quality
• The amber light towards the connectors indicates the mute status. Flashing amber light indicates that microphone signal is muted.
Compatibility Buddy USB 6G is a Plug & Play device, which uses standard Windows®, Macintosh® and Linux drivers. It has been tested to work with Windows® XP, Windows® 2003, Windows® Vista. It has been tested to work well with Dragon NaturallySpeaking®, Microsoft Speech in Windows, and IBM ViaVoice®.
The electronics is based on USB/DSP chip from a major German multimedia company and the chip is made in Germany. Each completed assembly is tested with a sophisticated diagnostic program developed for this purpose.
Technical Information Supports 8/16 bit mono recording at 6.4 Khz to 48 Khz, sensitivity -54 ± 4 dB impedance <650 Ohms.
