11. MAINTENANCE This Whale® appliance is designed to only require minimal maintenance. WARNING: Before servicing the grill, turn off all power. Note Do not repair or replace any part of the appliance unless specifically recommended in the manual. All other servicing must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Annual Checks • Whale® advises that the boat's electrical system is checked annually for any issues. This must be completed by an electrical engineer. • Before inspecting or replacing the appliances, disconnect the electrical supply. Optimal Performance • Ensure this product is regularly cleaned with non corrosive cleaning agents to ensure consistent performance. Cleaning Recommendations To clean your grill, use a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Stubborn spots caused by spillage and discolouration from heat may be removed using lemon juice, vinegar, or chrome polish. Care must be taken to keep these away from porcelain enamel surfaces. NEVER use coarse cleaners such as steel-wool scouring pads or metal brushes to clean stainless steel, these will make deep scratches on the stainless steel that cannot be removed. CAUTION: Wipe up food spills and splatters using a wet sponge or cloth before they burn onto the surface. However, be careful when using a damp cloth on hot surfaces to avoid steam burns. NOTE: Some cleaners can produce noxious fumes if applied to a hot surface therefore avoid using any cleaners until the appliance has fully cooled. Do not use ammonia or another heavy duty cleaner on this unit The drip tray can be removed for cleaning. To do this, ensure the grill is off and fully cooled down. Lift out the enameled cooking grill and lift the element from the left (unattached) side whilst unclipping the element support. The drip tray can then be removed and washed in warm soapy water for further use.
12. WINTERIZING To prepare for winter, ensure that the unit is thoroughly cleaned and that there is no water in the grill from washing the boat. If water is allowed to enter the unit and freeze it may crack open the grill.
