HOW TO EXPORT VIDEO DATA TO CD on SMARTBASE Burning exported video data to CD is a two step process on the client PC. 1. Export video footage to file. 2. Burn file to CD. To do this, we use the popular CD Burning software Ahead Nero to facilitate this process. Make sure a blank, unscratched CD in inserted in the CD drive ready to go. Pacific Communication East Brisbane Unit 55-57 Casw ell Street East Brisbane QLD, 4169 Telephone: 07 3249 6100 Facsimile: 07 3249 6101 Website: w w w .pacom.com.au Firstly, we need to check that Nero is correctly linked to Smartsearch. 1. Open the Smartbase program. 2. Click on the Search icon. 3. Click on the Setup icon. You should see the view below: In the CD Burner field, click on the button with the three dots (...). Then select the file 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Nero.exe'. Click OK. Now you will need to locate the video footage you require. Connect to the DVR that has this footage by clicking on the 'Remote' Button to connect. Once connected and footage found, take note of the camera number, the start time, and the end time of the footage you want to export. Now click on Save, and select 'Save as Minibank'. Note: Minibank exports the video and a standalone player program in its native format, as a single executable file. This is much smaller than an equivalent AVI file, will be quicker to export, is playable in any Windows PC and performs encryption checking to prove the authenticity of the video. Click OK. Now Enter in the details you noted down, such as the camera number, and the start time (on the left) and the end time (on the right). You can probably fit a couple of hours or so of video onto one CD. Click OK and enter in a filename and a location to save your video. Click Save. After the footage has been exported, you will arrive back at the Minibank save dialog. You can either export another file or click Close to exit. Now we are ready to burn the information to disc. Click on Save again, and this time select 'Run CD Burner' option. Click OK and Nero opens up (if it does not, you will need to start at the beginning and properly path the Nero program in setup). When the following screen appears, select Data, and Data Disc. Click on the ADD button, and browse to your exported file/s. Click to highlight them, and click the Add button to add them to the CD image. Continue to add other files you wish to burn. Once completed, click Finished. You should now see your files as above. Click Next. In the above screen, select the number of copies you wish to burn. You can also type a name for the disc, and set the burn speed if necessary (reduce if you have burning problems). Generally though, you can leave them as default. Click Burn to begin the writing process. You should receive the following message when burning is complete. Click OK to dismiss. Now the disc will eject and you can choose to Burn the same project again, create a new project, or Exit. Click Exit if you have finished. Your disc is now created with your video information.
