BX1932 Installation Instructions 1995-01 Dodge Ram 1500 4WD These vehicles weigh over 3,500 pounds and require a Class III (5,000 lb) rated tow bar, hitch, and accessories. Utilization of Blue Ox baseplates with any tow bar not approved by Automatic Equipment Mfg. Company invalidates the limited warranty. Installation of this baseplate requires removing the air dam and the black plastic strip under the bumper. The bumper will need to be loosened and the plastic air dam will need to be cut. 1. Read the General Instruction Sheet included with this baseplate. 2. The baseplate mounts to the frame using six (6) existing bolts and two (2) bolts supplied with the baseplate. 3. There is a black plastic strip under the bumper. It will need to be removed to install the baseplate. There are eight (8) screws with a T30 torax head and two (2) plastic rivets. You will need to drill out the plastic rivets as they are not removable. 4. Remove the license plate and its bracket. There are six (6) screws that mount this to the bumper. The bracket will be put back on in a later step. 5. The bumper will need to be loosened and moved to get the baseplate into position on the truck. Before starting to loosen the bumper take three (3) or four (4) measurements of the position of the bumper in relation to the vehicle body so the bumper can be put back in its original position when you tighten the bolts up. 6. There are three (3) bolts in the end of each frame rail that bolt the bumper to the frame. Remove all six (6) of these bolts. On the ends of the bumper there is a brace from the frame to the bumper. Remove the bolt that holds the brace to the frame. 7. Pull the bumper ahead about 1/2". Slip the baseplate end plates up around the outside of the frame and align the holes in the plates with the bumper mount holes. Push the bumper back and insert the bolts from inside out (It is easier to tighten the nuts outside of the frame), apply Loctite Red, and start the nuts. 8. The rear bolt on each side will thread into the nut plate supplied. Fish the nut into the frame through the opening where the bumper brace bolts to the frame. The nut plate will need to be vertical inside the frame. Apply Loctite Red to the 1/2-13 x 1 1/2 bolt, lock washer, and at washer and start into the nut plate. 9. Start the bolts back into the braces on both sides. Snug up one (1) bolt on each side to hold the bumper in position so you can take measurements. Adjust bumper until it is back in its original position. Tighten all ten (10) bolts completely. 10. Hold the black plastic air dam as close as possible to its mounted position. Mark squares to cut to allow the attachment tabs to protrude through the air dam. The squares will be approximately 1 1/2". Start small and enlarge as needed to allow the air dam to t back on the bumper. 11. Mount the air dam to the pickup. Two (2) 1/4 x 1 bolts have been supplied to replace the plastic rivets. If you prefer the rivets, your Dodge dealer will have them. 12. Replace the license plate bracket.

13. The dimensional variations between otherwise identical cars can be considerable. While the location and size of the holes in the baseplate were designed to allow for easy installation, it may be necessary to le a hole slightly to allow a bolt to clear. 14. Install the tow bar and safety cables according to the instructions included in their packages. 15. Do not substitute other devices if the tow bar pin and clip are lost. 16. DEALER OR INSTALLER: BE CERTAIN THE USER RECEIVES THE INSTRUCTION SHEET.
