BX2158 Installation Instructions 2001-04 Ford Escape 4cly/ 2.0L 2001-02 Mazda Tribute Serial No. The front bumper fascia is removed for baseplate installation. Some holes need to be drilled. The attachment tabs are centered at 18 inches and 15 inches of height. Factory Tow Brackets are removed and not reinstalled. There is no trimming to grill or fascia. 1. Remove T-25 Torx head screw on the top side of the grill just inside head light fixture one each side. 2. Just forward of front tires, there are three Phillips head push pins to remove. Pull fender liner to the side and remove push pin from the back side. This push pin holds the corner of the fascia to the fender(Refer to photo). 3. There are two push pins located on the top of the lower fascia opening to be removed. 4. Use the 10MM Socket to remove the eight metric bolts from the bottom side of fascia. Use the 13MM Socket to remove seven metric bolts on the tow bracket from both sides. Factory tow brackets remain off vehicle after installation. 6. Hold Base Plate up to tow bracket location. Using the existing bolts, fasten the baseplate into position and tighten all bolts according to manufacter specifications. NOTE: Be sure and use loctite on each bolt to keep them from loosening while towing vehicle. IMPORTANT: Use only genuine factory replacement parts on your Base Plate. Do not substitute homemade or nontypical parts. If a bolt is lost or in need of replacement, for your safety and the preservation of your Base Plate, be sure to use a replacement bolt of the same grade (Usually Grade 5, refer to parts list). 7. Drill the two remaining holes, with the 13/32 drill bit, on the lower bracket of the Base Plate. Bolt the lower bracket into place, using items 2, 3, and 4. NOTE: Be sure and use loctite on each bolt to keep them from loosening while towing vehicle. 8. Repair parts may be ordered through your nearest Automatic Blue Ox dealer or distributor. Replace bumper fascia in reverse order of steps 1 - 4. 9. Install tow bar and saftey cables according to the instructions included in their packages. Do not substitute other devices if the tow bar pin and clip are lost. 10.
