Set aside for later reuse. Removal and Storage of Cartridges (1) Remove each cartridge by lifting the front end, slide straight out the front of the printer while grasping the green handle (see Step 8 for each cartridge removed). Lift Front End of Cartridge and Pull Straight Out (2) Ensure that the PC drum cover is securely snapped onto bottom of cartridge. Place cartridges in “holding box”, or on a flat surface. Note: Holding box or flat surface must be free of debris and contamination. PC Drum Cover Holding Box 3 Removal of ITU Blanket Remove ITM blanket assembly by grasping its handle and lifting straight upward. Once handle clears ITM assembly, gently remove blanket assembly from printer’s interior. Set aside for later re-use. Note: Be careful not to touch surface of ITM belt. ITM Blanket Asm Handle Re-Installation of Toner Cartridges (1) Starting with the Yellow cartridge (rightmost cartridge position) and proceeding with the Cyan, Magenta and Black Cartridges, sequentially remove each cartridge from the holding box. Remove PC drum cover. Note: DO NOT touch PC drum surface when removing cover. Holding Box 4 (2) Position each cartridge onto the corresponding cartridge guides (hold cartridge by green handle), and slide cartridge fully into the printer until it drops vertically into place. Rest Cartridge on Guides Cartridge Guides Fully Insert by Pushing Cartridge End Fully Installed Cartridge Push (3) Close printer front door The printer is now ready for testing. 5 Repackaging of Printer after Testing Installation of the “Paper Jam” Sheet and Separation of the Fuser Rolls An important step that should be done before the repackaging the printer is the separation of the fuser rollls. This will prevent flattening of the rolls, which can happen if the printer is stored for a long period of time with them in contact with one another. In the factory, this is automatically at the end of the configuration process. In the field, this can be done by inducing a paper jam, which will cause the rollers to separate. (1) Lower the jam access door, depress the reference edge, green release lever and insert a folded sheet of paper into the paper path and under the reference edge rollers. Close jam access door. Insert Paper Sheet Installed Position of Sheet Depress Release Lever Jam Access Door (2) Power the printer on. (3) Once the 200 Paper Jam message is posted on the printer’s display, turn the printer off. Leave the “Paper Jam” sheet in place and proceed with the repackaging. 6 Installation of ITM Blanket Asm and Packaging of Cartridges (1) Remove each cartridge by lifting the front end, slide straight out the front of the printer while grasping the green handle (see Step 8 for each cartridge removed). Lift Front End of Cartridge and Pull Straight Out (2) Rotate the developer housing of the cartridge to open a small gap between the developer roll and PC drum. Position the end of the PC drum cover into the cleaner housing as shown below. Carefully work the tab on cover into space between the developer roll and PC drum. Rotate the cover into position. Once the cover is snapped on, the tab should be between the developer housing and white wear strip on the PC Drum Developer Roll PC Drum Developer Housing Wear Strip Cleaner Housing PC Drum Tab (3) 7 (4) Place cartridges in “holding box”, or on a flat surface. Note: Holding box or flat surface must be free of debris and contamination. Holding Box (5) Position ITM blanket assembly over ITM with the blanket’s “handle” positioned between the front and rear plates at the ITM’s right hand end. Press firmly “downward” on handle until it seats securely. Make sure that the blanket lies flat on the surface of the ITM and that the end of the Blanket is tucked underneat the TPS sensor. Note: DO NOT touch ITM belt with hand, fingers, etc. during installation of blanket.
